Damn 😱 That is really impressive! If the Action 3 had these features at launch i would have probably gotten it instead of the GoPro 11 🙈 Now i hope GoPro adds HDR in the next firmware upgrade but i guess that's not gonna happen 😅

Not sooo impressive, as it has 10Bit only in D-CineLike!!! So you have to colourgrade the footage to look like it in the video!!!!!

Did you shoot the old FW camera in D-Cinelike (flat) colors, and the new FW camera with DJI normal colors or color grade it? The greens and blue sky look overly saturated for a flat color mode. It would be good to show both cameras in the same color mode without any grading.

Thanks for the video - this is a big update. I also found the internal microphone is much more sensitive. Using the DJI wireless mic system, I needed to bring the camera mic gain down from +4 to -2 before the mic meter didn't show red. I also think the voice commands are more responsive and boot up time is quicker. Along with the 10-bit HDR video, this is a rich improvement to the action 3.

You have to wonder about DJI releasing the first version of the firmware. This is what was required initially and they have lost a lot of sales after many critical reviews. Hopefully they will continue to develop and improve. Im particularly interested to see if they bring out a more substantial version of the pocket 2. A larger sensor and battery in a more robust form factor, even if larger than the pocket 2.

Was researching this model yesterday for the first time. Watched a bunch of comparisons to Hero 11. Stumbled upon the fact that a 10-bit update might come in the future. What are the chances it came out just one day after? Just ordered my DJI Action 3 Adventure Combo for the same price as Hero 11 with no attachments available at my location. Can't wait to get it.

What I really appreciate with this firmware update is that DJI changed the camera's gain setting to go all the way down to -12db. I think there was a small group of users (mainly motovloggers) who's lavs signals we're too hot in camera. DJI didn't even acknowledge this change in the firmware update notes, but I like to think despite all the focus noise, they heard a smaller issue that was an easy fix and took care of it on the DL. Once again though, video features overshadow audio stuff lol!

@@roninr8199 It's good for situations where your mic may be close to your sound source but you need a way to attenuate the signal. The best example is a motovlogger who puts a lav mic inside their helmet to record their voice. Because the mic is in a small enclosed area close to their mouth, inherently that sends a louder signal to the camera (which was too loud for the Action 3 at the 0db setting). Now being able to lower the camera setting to -12db fixes that (though you would still need to be mindful to not clip the audio at the mic capsule).

@@WayneRECs thanks got it.. But what I read was the adaptor to connect action 3 is also become expensive like go pro adaptor.. Initially I read was for action 2 we could directly connect type c microphone and talk.. Not sure why they changed it with action 3.. Since in my country there is no official dgi service as of today I cannot risk by purchasing action 3 from some other country.. Might be wait for sometime and get new manufacturing Date product.

I haven’t tested this yet, but I hope you are right. I complained to DJI how bad the gain was in camera. Glad they listened to us motovloggers ❤. I think the mic was at least 16dB too hot when it was on lowest setting. Can’t wait to try it!

Hello , I'm in the same situation as you... between this camera (I had it for 3 days but returned for these quality concerns) and gopro11... I loved the battery box and mounting system (even if accessories such as ulanzi do it) But it seems that since yesterday there has been a lot of negative feedback on overheating and autonomy which has collapsed.. I am waiting for other feedback because the gopro11 seems to be very good

It would help if you provided the settings for both cameras. One clearly looks like it hasn't been graded and the other is graded.

Just seeing the colors pop like that is extra enticing!!! Also, there was no jello shaking in the canopy as you ran through it. That’s pretty impressive!!! I’m extremely tempted to sell my GoPro 9s and Action 2 to get just one Action 3. LOL!!! Maybe a GoPro 11, because I need that hindsight feature for fishing. 😅

NO... read that cameras manufacturerd 10/22 got it fixed but that's just theory.. No acknowledge from DJI and I think it would be safe to buy go pro hero 11 this year

Hello , I have the same feeling as you.. software saturation.. All plans are with excellent brightness. In other videos, as soon as the light goes down, we have the feeling that the contrasts are "pushed"

Of course but nobody tells you!!! 10Bit is ONLY in D-CLike!!! That means the image is FLAT and MUST be graded in post!

Do you recommend using HDR 10bit while snowboarding in sunny conditions? Because the framerate will only be 30.

hdr 10 bit is very resource intensive - the camera can overheat and stop recording if stationary at room temperature within 15 minutes ( even at 2.7k using h265). It's not just how many frames but also the quality of the frames. Try both and see for yourself.

The difference should still exist vs GoPro 11 because GoPro 11 has a bigger sensor but DJI is also smaller, it has better stabilization and it also doesn't overheat and it has a better battery life. If we are going to pick on the little things side by side we can always find perks, but right now I think DJI looks more promising than the GoPro because of the overheating and battery life, the image quality is there on both and you would have to have a side by side comparison to see a difference.

The otg file transfer doesn't work, I have updated to the new firmware and connected it to my android phone.. after connecting the phone said unsupported flash drive and to format it, after formatting it works on the phone but the SD card is then not supported by the camera and now the camera asks to format the SD card and it goes on and on and on

My first 2 OA3 were 9/22 and both out of focus. Last 1 is manufactured 11/22 and there is no focus issue.

something is wrong with this comparison, switching to 10bit shouldn't change the overall color tone of the image.

Exactly. 8 or 10 bit wouldn’t show a difference until color grading. Even then with this camera or GoPro 10bit. It adds nothing. These compressed 4:2:0 codecs don’t make any use of 10bit.

Unfortunately most of the viewers are to ****** excited to have a deep thought about that! 10BIT is ON only in D-CLike so in the flat profile. That means, that you have to grade your videos to get a better image....

Hello , Your experience doesn't seem to be the only one...lots of people are complaining about it on the forums. But that, the "testers" do not talk about it.... People also complain about the autonomy that has become catastrophic... In addition, this test remains involved because everything is filmed with excellent light... I am skeptical because I hesitate between this one and the gopro 11 which seems to have reached the age of maturity

@@xaviertuilliere503 Actually, I was happy before the update. I did not understand all the complains about the focus. It was ok for me. I am not that picky. Now I really like the new features but this overheating already at 4K 30 FPS is a bummer! It happens with AND without image enhancement. I first thought it was because of this new feature but it doesn't matter if it's turned on or off. Then I thought maybe because of the stabilisation... turned off as well and nothing has changed again. Then I tryed HDR on, same as before... overheating. I didn't take a record of the time since the cam was runnig while working but it just kept shutting off. And yes, the battery dies a lot faster now. @@TheBestShowman Thanks for your feedback. Too bad for the practical aspects of this action3: being a user of this action camera for travel, I can't afford to have this kind of problem... @@xaviertuilliere503 I understand your point of view. I am pet groomer and it takes a long while before a pet is done. It's really annoying when recording stops after just a few minutes, with another 90 Minutes to record! Well... good luck to all of us who are dealing with this dilemma now!
