Totally agree regards to keeping the AIR 3 Drone on Auto settings as the results are fantastic. Gone are the days of keeping your eye on the manuel settings especailly when flying your drone!! Thank you for a great video!!

Thank you. Technology has moved on so fast. I was stuck in manual for years. I only use it now for stills.

I'm 2 years in with my mini 2. Didn't believe in filters. Bought em but never used them. Shot in auto only. Did a couple videos with filters on wihile shooting in pro and the difference is amazing. I won't be shooting in auto or without filters again. Thanks alot tho

Thanks. If my videos inspire people to try something different then I have succeeded.

Thanks for those side by side comparisons! I just ordered both kits and can't wait to get hold of them :) If you are filming or taking pictures of water from above, which filter do you recommend the most. I'm a fisherman and would like to capture in the clearer water some of the depth complexities of a pond or lake or even timelapse and see the fish swimming!

It all depends on the angle of the sun and the state of the water really. A low value nd filter may work best but sometimes a UV can work well, especially early morning or late afternoon. Getting the drone right overhead looking straight down would be the best method unless the sun was directly overhead. I'm hopefully doing a video about water glare this week. Enjoy your filters.

Great information, especially as I'm learning, and nearly purchased the DJI set. Thanks👌 have you done a PL comparison

I’ve found setting the ISO manually to 100 and leaving shutter and white balance in auto works fantastic
@ColRose9 ай бұрын
Is that with or without filters?
@Jhorne849 ай бұрын
@@ColRose With, I’ll try and find the best filter and just let the camera do its magic.. I run my drone at 4k 30fps, if the filter maintains between 50-80fps on auto everything looks good
@regbanks78889 ай бұрын
@Jhorne84 yeah I used to shoot without filters. And with a high shutter. I recommend always keeping the shutter at what it's supposed to be. Makes your footage look alot better. I learned the hard way. I will never shoot without filters again
@Jhorne849 ай бұрын
@@regbanks7888 Another trick I’ve found useful is choosing the filter that will keep me around the 180 rule when I’m flying low under 80ft or so. When I’m at higher altitudes of 200ft or more, motion blur becomes useless so the higher shutter speeds from more light matters not.

So in manual mode you need to bump up the ISO from 100 to 200 or 250 when using the tele lens (if you're using an ND filter that is not split)
@ColRose11 сағат бұрын
@@lmhkt That would help if you don't have split filters. You could deniose in your editing program so the footage looked cleaner.

Thanks for the video. So to clarify, you are NOT using the split filters from Freewell with the different ND lenses? You are just using a full lens with the same ND for both the wide and zoom lens, on Auto correct? I have been struggling to decide which ND's to go with. First I thought the DJI ones and then i thought the Freewell split ones. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
@ColRose9 ай бұрын
In the video I only had the DJI ND filters, so I had to keep landing and changing over. The whole experiment led me to the conclusion that the Freewell dual filters, or the Polar pro dual filters are by far the best option for constant footage. Mine are on the way to me.
@marshallbreite46479 ай бұрын
@@ColRose Thanks for your response. That's what I initially thought and most people "suggest" that but I had not seen an actual test before. Somehow, I thought after watching your video that by leaving it on Auto, there was not a need for the split ones. Thanks for clarifying.
@ColRose9 ай бұрын
@@marshallbreite4647 I will have to clarify my point more in the next video. I'm still experimenting and learning myself. The danger of using the same ND on both lenses, even in auto, is that the adjustments that the camera make may become obvious in post production leading to a grainier footage with the 70mm. I was far happier with the results with different values on each lens. My Freewell filters will be here in 2 days, so hopefully another video next week. Thanks for your interest.

Thanks for the helpful info. how do you know which ND filter to choose?
@ColRose9 ай бұрын
No problem. I set everything up in manual, for example 4K 25fps which means a shutter speed of 1/50. Then hold the filters in front of the lens and see which looks best. Once I've done that I put it in auto.
@donovanw.29435 ай бұрын
@@ColRose Good idea. Thanks again.

So, what is the conclusion? Is hybrid filtets better than this split filters?
@ronnyrandertjes9 ай бұрын
good question
@ColRose9 ай бұрын
In my opinion it is essential to have different values on each lens, otherwise the adjustments needed are far too great and will show on production. I'm still testing under different conditions and will do another video soon.
@radionursu98249 ай бұрын
@@ColRose maybe, but split iflters are not polarised
@ColRose9 ай бұрын
@@radionursu9824 Good point but I hardly ever use polarise filters unless I'm trying to get a particular shot over water.

@@ColRose ok, got it, I need all packet then because indend to shoot over water too 😅
