DJI Android App Won't Open - How to Fix

Күн бұрынHow to install DJI Apps in Android or how to resolve DJI app not opening in Android . Illustrates as of April 2022 how some DJI apps are missing from Google Playstore while others fail to run after the Android phone updates.
This video may assist with issues for the following DJI applications:
DJI Store, DJI Fly, DJI Mimo, DJI Ronin, DJI Pilot,
DJI Pilot PE, DJI Go 4, DJI Go, DJI Ronin Assistant,
RoboMaster, Tello App, & Tello EDU App.

UPDATES
9/6/2022:. If DJI Go4 current app version 4.3.50 does not open on your phone try version 4.3.48 being given out by DJI support one person at a time when they are contacted by customers who have not been able to use their product for over a month due to conflicts with Android after Android updates in July and August of 2022. - 8/31/21: DJI Go4 still has not been updated by DJI yet so many with Android 12 and 13 still have issues running app. Need to wait for new DJI Go4 version, or use a different phone/tablet the app works on, or consider using third party app like Litchi.
- 8/24/2022: DJI has released DJI Ronin 1.5.2 (3777) which may resolve crash issue with app for you.
- 8/24/2022: When DJI updates their apps they often fail to change the version indicated on their website for days, weeks or months. So even though website says 1.5.0 when you click the link the fil you download may be a newer version such as 1.5.2
- 8/18/2022: DJI has released DJI Mimo 1.7.26 which may resolve issue with that app: • DJI Mimo Release 1.7.2...
- 8/17/2022: DJI officially has released DJI Fly 1.6.12 which many say fixes issue: • DJI Fly App 1.6.12 - W...
- 8/11/2022: If apps continue to close when you open them even after remove them, download new from DJI, and install them again, here are some options to consider:
A. Purchase an older Android phone or tablet with earlier version of Android which may still be compatible with the DJI app you are using.
B. Switch to using a Apple Phone or Apple iPad as DJI supports getting app through Apple Store and there seems to be less issues with Apple version of DJI Apps
C. Wait for DJI to update app you are using to function. This may take days, weeks, months, or for some phones/devices/android versions may never happen.
D. Sell your DJI products and purchase other ones.
E. If using DJI drones consider using an alternate app such as Litchi if it is possible to use without having the DJI app installed on phone flylitchi.com/

Seems like a lazy issue. I have been dealing with this since at least October of last year. I would have thought DJI would have wanted their products to work for everyone hassle free.

Thank you so much! Went to fly my mavic mini and was bummed that I could not open the app after my phone updated. The instructions to get the app working again was easy to follow and was clearly detailed.

DJI didn't drop the ball, it's just that Google is the only one of the app providers, which did not want to freely make available the spyware that makes every single click, every single picture, all of your contacts, your text, conversations, and all of your files available to mainland to China.

@@samtroyer1457 Updates came out last week for Fly and Mimo to fix conflicts after recent Android updates which allowed many people to use those apps successfully again. Hopefully they will release updates for Go4 and other apps soon. Ability to install and use apps successfully so can be impacted on specific model of phone, other apps, past phone updates, and so forth. What app, phone and android version do you have? Maybe contact DJI to see if they might have beta firmware or if they support your phone and android version?

Absolutely amazing. Fired up my DJI 2 hours ago and couldn't open the app. Messed around doing Google searches, downloading the file from dji yet couldn't open it. Thought I'd got an unusable drone until I found this, followed your instructions and bingo, it works. Thank you so much, dji.....please link this video for your users, its brilliant.

Marcus I have spent three days online and on the phone with DJI trying to resolve this problem and have got nowhere. Your video has worked and I can't thank you enough. I have sent your video to DJI suggesteing they share this with every Andriod user with the same problem and maybe they should employ you as a you are way better then thier technical team!

There's a reason DJI isn't providing the app via the app store anymore. Installing APKs from sources outside of the Play Store is a security risk and the fact DJI asks you to do so tells you all you need to know about this company.

We hope you’ll read the entire post, but it you are short on time, here is an overview of what we found: DJI’s Mimo app uses libraries that request personal data about users’ religious and political affiliation, as well as security settings from connected social network APIs. The DJI Mimo app sends data through insecure means to servers behind the Great Firewall of China, where it is accessible to the Chinese Government. The DJI Mimo app requests from users (via the OS) access to fine and coarse location data, the ability to manipulate WiFi state, read SMS messages, and read logs. The DJI Mimo app fails to meet basic security practices for users’ data, leading to potential disclosure or modification in transit. DJI’s Terms of Use Agreement allows user data to be shared with the Chinese Government. Glad to have saved your life in a figurative sense. Maybe literally if without this video you might have thrown your DJI product at a wall via anger and frustration causing it to bound back and hit you in the nose pushing bone into you brain and killing you.

You are a Life saver. I now have the DJI fly app on my android. I don't understand why DJI removed themselves from allowing it to be done on the Google Play Store. I just hate this thing with Apple and Android, where you can access or connect to different things on one, but not the other. Everyone is tired of it...

Yes it would be nice if every product had the identical app available directly from Google and Apple with same features. It is frustrating when you find difference of product features or application function when using Apple versus Android. In my experience it seems most always favor Apple and often have features not available in Android.

I dropped my Samsung s21 ultra in the canal. Luckily had an old s10 emergency phone... in case I dropped phone in water... never to be found again. Which is where the s21 is now. I could not open dji fly app which rendered my new mini pro 3 useless... it is now working, cheered me up a lot. Thank you for the very clear information on how to get app to work.

Sorry about your phone in the Canal but it is good that S21 Ultra is working for you. Some people say apps still not working on S21 after following instructions . So maybe sometimes it depends on which carrier phone it is and what android version or security version is being used. Have a great time flying.

Brilliant I have the first DJI MIMO that came out not used it for a while devastated when I found the app crashed. Found this post did followed instructions I have a Samsung phone. Easy to follow perfect (I’m not IT savvy)

I was apple phone person initially. Been on Android forever. But I have so many DJI and GoPRo products where it always seems they are better supported in apple versus Android. So maybe next phone upgrade will be back to apple. I dipped my toes back in the apple pond by getting a iPad tablet when it came time to upgrade my android tablet. So I will use iPad for drone flying sometimes.

THANK YOU! I had watched other videos on trying to get the app installed and none worked. I had tried your steps, all which had failed, until the CX File Explorer method, which is what finally allowed the app to install on my S22 Ultra device. You've just gained a new sub out of me for this alone!

Thank you. I only wished it worked for everyone as there is still a percentage of people who say it did not work for them, including a person with S22 Ultra in my other video specific to DJI Go4. .

@@MarcusGlass It's interesting because up until the very last part, with the CX File Explorer, I was kinda resolving myself to the fact that it wouldn't work either. Every other video I watched on how to install it described everything BUT that, so again major thank you. I had to download the app for the DJI Ronin btw.

LOL. Maybe. Seems like everytime there is application or Bluetooth issue it always occurs in Andeoid phone but is not an issue for my Apple iPad. So Apple phone would prevent issues in the future. But as you say then I will not be able to know about issues to solve them and help others. Hard decision to make perhaps.

Thanks to your excellent tutorial we too have had success in reconnecting the app. Hadn't used the drone for a while and were stumped why the app kept closing. Did a google search and came across your video. Well done, thanks heaps. 👍😁

Fantastic Marcus, genius. Why do we have to be stressed by all this? It should be easy, intuitive and fun to get and fly a drone but, boy do they make us jump through hoops. All looking good thank you matey, mini 3 pro on order 👍

Thanks for the fix! Went to fly my Spark today and the app did the same thing! Reloaded it the way you mentioned and it worked perfectly! Can't really blame it on DJI: They didn't update or change Android. They have to redo the software every time Android makes changes and they are going to concentrate on their flagship models first. Oh well...happy flying!

Totally. I now before leaving house that morning or night before power up DJI product and app to ensure it functions still. If it does not then I have to troubleshoot or instead switch to use my iPad or older Android phone or Tablet and then troubleshoot more when I get back.
