Hi! Thanks for the video. I would be grateful if you could tell me: maybe you remember having a "GPS error" in the DJI application since the front leg was broken? Because mine Mavic has severe damage and I'm wondering whether I also need to order new GPS module or broken leg could be the reason for the GPS error as well.

Any recommendation for temp setting on the soldering iron? This video is still relevant 3 years after you posted it! Just don't want to overheat the soldering points. Thanks in advance

I’d start at medium setting and work my way up and ”tap testing” to see what gets the solder fluid enough. The circut board and soldering points seemed pretty hardy, but i would recomment a relativly small fine soldering tip to avoid unnecessary heating outside the designated area. Start low and slow and you’ll do fine.

I sourced the part from a local supplier. I’m afraid I can’t recommend any international retailers as I’ve not used any. I would suggest using only original parts. Good luck on your repairs!

Hi! It's possible to use the mavic to rec something with a broken arm like this? or the dji go app refuse to record?

Hey, thanks for commenting. I don’t really know, never tried it. Obviously it gave a load of error messages as it could not complete self-diagnostics on boot up. But I imagine recording would be possible as it is not directly tied to flight controls.

Sorry I have no info on the compass, I would guess it goes by GPS and traveldirection rather than an actual compass.

Yep, if anything it’s a promo video for DJIs insurance 😂 But it’s not really that bad with normal skills and common sense, I bought the part and figured it out as I went along. Hope it helps. Have a good one!

does it matter where each yellow and white wire goes?

Hey there! Thanks for commenting and your question. The yellow and white are pretty much and extra outer insulation jacket, and the ”real” coloured insulated cable are inside those. I hope you understand what I mean. Anyways, each soldering point has tiny marking for what respective colour goes where, just keep tabs on where the thinner cables go and where the thicker ones go. Take everything slow and methodical and you’ll be fine. Best of luck!

This is a TERRIBLE video but, thanks for posting it. Why so negative? There are a couple critical points in the video where you show little to no detail. I was cautious but made my way through it. These were, the removal of the cover. I was very cautious about breaking tabs and did it successfully. Working from the front as shown was helpful, but tough to see where the tabs contacted. This was critical, it would be so easy to break the top cover during removal. The other tough spot was the removal of the metal tension pin that holds the arm to the frame. This was tough to figure out. Where do you push or pull? You didn't help me here. I had to figure this out too. It's tough to pull up and using a set of needle nose plyers helped. But, it doesn't just lift up. It has side tension against it. Watch the reinstall video first, before you attempt the removal. This will give you an idea of how it comes out. A little dialog and less music and hands covering critical points would help. But, overall, thank for posting. This was pretty easy to do but if you've never been inside, it's a bit daunting on a $1500 drone that has less than 2 minutes of flight time. Yes, I should have been more aware of the settings before flying it indoors. I thought I had done my research. Thanks!

Hey reedrobb, thanks for the comment. It’s not meant to be a technical instruction video, it’s the first video I’ve done, first drone I’ve ever owned, crasched and repaired. One camera, one drone and one brand new soldering iron is all I had. I was thinking of re-doing the video and adding text to the steps, but then again, I’m no expert and it’s not a technical instruction video. Hope it’s helps someone. Again, thanks for the comment.
