DJI Mini 3 Pro Do you need a UV Filter?

UV filter, are they any good for us drone flyers? Added some old drone footage of my DJI Phantom 3 Advanced, fitted with a lens cover, had a fly away, crashed into a cliff and the lens cover saved the day :)

Good comparison Shaun. Didn't notice any difference in color, brightness, or shadows but I sensed a slightly less sharp image with the UV. I'm with you though. When I'm not using an ND filter I'm always using a UV for protection against dust, debris hitting the camera, or crashes.

Hi Shaun. If i was buying the all day 6 pack and intend to always have one of the 6 on the drone, depending on the time of day, that in itself would be protection and therefore would never need the UV one?

With my real camera’s, I always use an UV filter. To protect the lens from getting scratched as much as anything. And you can use ND filters to take pictures, just adjust your shutter manually to avoid the images from being too dark. Great video, and thanks for sharing.

I just bought the Polar pro set that has ND plus PL. but it only comes with 8-16-32ND. I will probably get the 64ND from freewill. I don't have a UV yet

Great video, and love the intro! It would be nice, if future dji drone cameras came With built-in nd filter effects. Inwhich density levels could be controlled, from an app.

Thank you Gil, glad you enjoyed the video and good point about built in ND filters for effect. I can remember the Phantoms had something similar for colour effects but didn't bring it to the Mavic series. Many thanks for your comment and watching :)

@@shaunthedrone It would be similar to the way, expensive windows can tinted remotely from within a home. Just on a smaller scale. Applying today's nd filters, just seems a little primitive.

Yes camera needs some protection. guess UV filter is good for water shots. But always good to have extra protection for camera.. Difficult sourcing one from Japan.
