Fly safe! My advice is to find a field or at least fly higher than any surrounding trees or buildings etc to practice. And fly slow till you get the hang of it

Robert Jenkins Congrats! The P4 is awesome and a lot of fun. My advice is to get out in the open with nothing around to practice. Go slowly until you get the feel of the controls. Also remember if the P4 is flying towards you, your stick controls will be backwards. Have fun and safe flying!

Sorry, I missed that step in the video. As you land, continue to hold down on the stick for 3 seconds and the P4 will power down the propellers.

do you recomend using back to home everytime you fly it? because i assume its alot easier to just have it come back or no? i havent took it out for a flight i just got it and i dont know if having to manually land it is recommended or not

I always manually flew it back, just follow the path on the map to return home. If you do use return to home, I would recommend setting a minimum height in the settings so you don’t run into a tree or power line on the way back

If I remember correctly it was around 23 minutes of flight time. I haven’t owned it in years and am not sure what it currently sells for on the used market.

Just got a P4 myself yesterday... haven't flown it yet.. newbie here...the top down view over your house... roughly how high was that ? did you set a attitude limit ?

Congrats on the purchase! The P4 is my first experience into drones and I love it. Actually flew it last night at a youth rally. My advice, take your time, fly slow, practice either high above trees, telephone wires etc or in an open area. I mentioned in the video I ascended to 200' so that should have been the altitude I was at when I pointed the camera downwards over my house and began my descent. I set the altitude limit as high as it will go in the DJI app. When I first began flying, it was fun to fly around at 400' which is the FAA limit here in the U.S. but I've found everything looks better when you are flying lower to the ground.

Cure Yourself make sure you have removed the plastic gamble guard. Then hold down and to the center on both sticks. If that does not work try opening the DJI app and you can launch it from there

I’m not sure the max height it will ascend. 400’ is the max altitude you are supposed to fly to in order to avoid air traffic.

There is a wheel on the back side of the remote that moves the camera up and down. To pN (move left and right) you use the joystick to rotate the entire drone

Just take it slow, fly above the tallest obstacle or an open field to practice and you will be fine. GPS keeps it stable even when you let go of the sticks

@@Youthman oh ok it pretty much hovers itself you just controll the movement, Ive had some other brands but they werent the hover kind, you constantly had to fly them. but im thinking about investing in a dji. Have you ever had it stop mid flight and crash on you? hows the durablity?

Mine has never failed me. Yes you launch it into the air and if you let go of the controller, it will stop and hover where it’s at. You can walk up to it and grab the landing feet and push it away from you and it will fight to come back to where it was. It’s pretty awesome. The only thing I don’t care for is the size. Check out the DJI Mavic Air.

GoPro Youthman also it says disconnected on the iPad screen where it shows all the flight controls and camera view if I plug the iPad into the phantom it will say connected and then a button pops up that's says ready to fly when I click it it says to connect the iPad to the controller then the phantom and iPad (phantom app) become disconnected

Try turning off the Phantom and the Controller. Connect the iPad to the controller with your USB cable. Turn on the controller. Then turn on the Phantom. Then open the DJI GO4 app.

I can understand that and thought the same thing when I first got it. That was until I realized that the P4 doesn't realize it's over water. It flies the same whether it's over land or water. Let's face it, if it drops from the sky at 100 feet over land, good luck being able to fly it again. Take a look at some of my past videos of me flying it over water.

Oh I'm sure it works, I just would not recommend this as a best practice. With practice, there would never be a need to turn off the remote to land it. That's like teaching a teenage driver, if you turn off the engine, it will eventually come to a stop. LOL

Magnum Thanks. I was very nervous my first few flights and there are still certain flying situations that I still get nervous. I would find a large, open area to practice in first. If you don't have that, after you take off, slowly rise to a height above anything it might hit and learn to fly up high. I would also recommend slow movements on your stick until you get used to the controls. Check out my other Phantom 4 Videos as they might help as well.

I made a video of it. It's my most recent one as of now. It wasn't nearly as bad as I feared. Thanks for asking! Can't wait to do it again so I can get a little more familiar with the controls.

Gregory Keet Unless the guidelines have changed, you do not need a permit or consent to fly in a residential area. I took off from my back yard and was not flying over people. Safe flying and thanks for watching.

Ah okay, we just bought the phantom 4 here in South Africa.. It turns out that we need the RPL (Remote Pilots Licence) which costs 23000 rand (more than what i paid for the drone) and that's step 1 and only for non-commercial. Then we need to get the ROC (Remote Operator Certification) for R130000 rand just so that we can add footage to paid videos - how ridiculous is that? So yea, the rules over there are way better than in South Africa.

Wow, that's pretty crazy. I know in the US, they are still trying to figure out how to regulate drones. Our main rules are stay below 400ft, do not fly directly over people and you cannot fly within 5 miles of an airport without contacting air traffic control to advise them of your flight path coordinates to make sure there are not any conflicting flight paths with other aircraft.

For sure! i guess you guys have it far easier. i know that in Australia things are as tough as here. We have to make a plan for international rulings that apply to the droning community.

Look at the newer DJI Magic and Magic Pro. The Phantom 4 is too big and bulky

Thanks for watching. The reason for the music is with the Phantom out of mic range, the video would have been awkwardly silent. This was also 5 years ago when my channel was small and I had to rely on free copyright free music (which isn’t very good). Thanks for watching

@@Youthman would you happen to know if aftermarket batteries work just as well that are not branded by DJI? I just saw Walmart has it for $78 dollars a battery. And do they sell replacement parts for these of it breaks?
