Great video. When connecting high end DJ gear together like the Nexus/Prime kit, you should be using the SPDIF for a few reasons: 1. It avoids a step of DA/AD as the signals exit the players and go into the mixer (which can introduce noise and artefacts). 2. It bypasses the line inputs which can be clipped. While analog distortion has a rather pleasing “crunch” (Xone 96), digital distortion sounds horrible 3. It’s less cables to mess up 4. It keeps the line inputs clear for other DJ’s sharing the mixer that need them 5.It's one more improvement I can make to the overall sound quality of my setup

So many professional sound crews don't do this. It enrages me

Nice I bet lots of ppl had questions regarding things you mentioned in this video. I would have been cool, just for case inpoint, if you connected booth the cdj digital and rca output into the mixer and payed someting then switch thet imput selector on the mixer. like i said. just to demostrate your point. thanks again, I was here because i was being sold on "special" digital audio rca. and I was researching if I could use the cables I have. thanks again

you shouldn't use non coaxial cables...

If use digital ins, do the “analog” work, all of them?

Can you use the mixer’s digital output with a portable recorder in the same way you would use the RCA record out where the level is decoupled from the analog master our level? Could be a dumb question but also do any of the zoom-style recorders accept that digital signal as an input?

hi folks,one of my cdj2000 nexus players when i plug in the 2 rca outputs and plug into my djm900 nexus mixer i get no input to the mixer and of course no output,i have the channel selector on cd/line.but if i plug into the digital output on the cdj and into the digital input on the djm900 and select the knob to digital i get both signal in and output perfectly.any one have a clue why this is.strange problem.cheers john

i think the biggest advantage of digital is that clipping can't happen.
