FreddieMercuryFanFTW that's dedication. He's definitely fun to watch. Hope to see them live, one day. Had my tix to see them in SF with L.O.G. & Dethklok, back in 2012. However, Czech Republic authorities... had different ideas. I bitch & moan about the tour being cancelled, but my woes were nothing compared to what was going on in Mr. Blythe's world at the time. Not to mention, the family of the young man who perished. But, I digress. Gojira... you're still near the top of my bucket list!

AnthonY TenkkU uhhhhh no it is not lol. You're playing the same rhythms as the intro once the guitars come in and accent the begging of every note group. Trust me, it's fucking hard. It might appear to be straight eighth notes, but the accents make things incredibly difficult. Now I'll have to say, yes, the guitars and bass have it WAYYYY easier than the drummer. I won't deny that.
@ktakashismith2 жыл бұрын
How these guys play something this rhythmically complex and emotionally intense without their brains melting out of their noses is absolutely beyond me.

I know! Holy Shit what did I just hear? I never listen to metal, don't hate, but kind of dismiss it like they do country music or bluegrass "Well, it all sounds kinda the same." Which is dumb (in both instances). But holy hell, I gotta hear this again. Wow. I found this because I looked at some drum videos, then Mario, then Gojira...and wow. The "rhymical complexity" is one thing but those guitars are freaking weapons of mass destruction.

As a drummer watching this video of Mario's absolute dominance for the hundredth time, the only word that comes to mind is: thunderous. The tone, the method, the emotion he gets out of this performance, it truly is awe inspiring. There's times where it looks like he's shaking the cameras he's playing so hard yet he never gets sloppy for even a second. This is what metal is supposed to be.

Everyone's talking about Mario's drumming, but Joe's vocals in this live are out of this world, absolutely incredible. This is his heaviest voice at 2:48, or at 3:36. No shitty deathcore growl technique can match this. Pure evil and hatred, something sinistrous, end of the world, collapse of the mountains, heavy as oceans and my depression
@TheZburljProduction4 жыл бұрын
yet there is a "cold " way of singing.. It just gives you " chill " , like u said, sinistrous, mountain crushing touch on it.
@MrLgustavo984 жыл бұрын
well smart ass, every guttural vocal needs technique, otherwise it will fuck your throat and vocal cords up. It is not "pure evil hatred anger". I agree with you, it was absolutely incredible, but needs to be pointed that the vocal around 5:00 were shitty. If you don't like deathcore, it is absolutely your business, but you don't have to call it shitty comparing to other vocalists that is specifically your personal taste, specially Joe in this one, being out of tune in the same 5:00. You don't need to love it, but recognize other bands talents and efforts to make the music they want/need to express themselves. Check Phil Bozeman out and come here and repeat that 'deathcore shitty growl technique' again, I dare you! xD

The way it hit's my brain, I can't describe it.. - I'll attempt to: Listen to the song 20 times, so you anticipate the melodies, memorize the lyrics, then don't listen to the song for about a month (if you can last that long). Come back listen to it again, then sing it with every passion in your body and let the volume be a comfortable degree of 'loud'. The passion you feel singing it and jamming it.. ugh.. If you're beginning with Gojira, you're starting off with some of the best modern metal there is. You won't find many bands out there that put their heart and soul into music like these guys.

+kingadalou Wut? Are you honestly putting Gojira together with Slipknot? You have to be fucking delusional. They're not even in the same fucking planet. I mean, Spliknot is ok if you're a 14 year old emo kid with identity issues, but Gojira is real fucking metal.

Lyrics for your reading pleasure: Breathing slowly, mechanical heartbeat Losing contact with the living Almighty TV plugged, hybrid empty brain Don't see anything real in the game The tension is building constantly No reason just a reflex I have, driven by clockwork I try to keep an eye open And I realize I haven't closed my eyes in a long time Neglected emotions leading to catastrophic voyage on the other side I have been given so much stress and lack of confidence I've been given the gift of so small hope deep inside I haven't close my eyes in a long time, I am trying I cannot stomach these forms and colors anymore But I'm here to continue, after all I have been through I try to keep my eyes open, I am realizing This life and death more precious than anything I won't bring no material in the after life Take no possessions, I would rather travel light I'm of this kind that kills all day But I don't know yet how to die Art of dying is the way to let all go Within I practice, in the secret of my soul My shape in the reflector has Now for ever, a life on it's own

Every once in a great while, regardless of genre, you come across a band/artist that just completely floors you and reminds you of all that you loved about a genre to begin with. Gojira did that for me. My hat's off. Fucking immaculate.

Thank you Gojira for your music! You also are helping to motivate me since I started the law school, sometimes specially when you're through a quarantine you need the energy to comeback to your body and spirit.
