Tanya Tucker is a legendary country music singer & songwriter. Her first hit was "Delta Dawn" in 1972 when she was only 13. She had a lot of hits as an adult especially in the 70's-80's such as "What's Your Mama's Name?", "Blood Red & Goin' Down", "Lizzie & The Rainman", "Strong Enough To Bend", "San Antonio Stroll", "Here's Some Love", "It's A Cowboy Lovin' Night" etc. She also recorded a few singles with Glen Campbell, with whom she was romantically linked for awhile.

Paul Davis co-wrote this. Now there’s another whole (entire) world for you to explore. His written and performed material is top, top notch. As far as Tanya Tucker, she got started under Billy Sherrill with that whole ‘70s countrypolitan thing on Columbia, the she moved to MCA and had some huge successes with Lizzie And The Rainman, Here’s Some Love and The San Antonio Stroll… and then she went to Capitol and moved into her Glen Campbell faze. He didn’t treat her so well, but their song, can I See You Tonight consistently appears on my iPod mixes. I can’t get tired of it and I’ve tried. With her singing and Glen picking, it’s off the chain. In the late ‘80s she had a resurgence that opened a whole new audience to her and that continues today. If you can think of it, this lady has been there for it. She embodies country music.

If my memory serves me correctly, Tanya was an Elvis fan and even wore a leather suit like he did at one time, and she was once married to Country legend Glen Campbell. Speaking of Glen Campbell. He does a song that I love called “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry”. If you react to it, do the one where he’s on stage wearing a white shirt and a harmonica player is there too. Great version!!! Also, another great song he does is called “Mull of Kintyre” (written by Paul McCarney, who does a great version of the song as well). Glen plays bagpipes in the song and does a great job of it too.

Wow. Music has a way of triggering memories, but this one just put me back in the mid 1990s, hard. I guess it's partly because I haven't heard it in so long, and partly because I associate her voice always just did something for me. I hear this, and I'm right back there. Not even sure why, as that's years after the song came out. I can only assume it's because I used to with a gal who sounded like her and would start singing "Delta Dawn." FWIW, try that one next. I think she was barely 14 (13 maybe, to see some of these other comments) when she recorded it. The depth in her voice, even at such a young age, will amaze you.

She's another rabbit trail you need to go down. Rich vibrato. Quick little story. After watching the cartoon "Hoodwinked", I would sometimes break out into Japeth the Goat's song, "Be Prepared". Didn't know why I liked it so much but it apparently got on my wife's nerves and one day she told me, "You only like that song because it reminds you of Tanya Tucker!" Then it dawned on me, it is very Tanya Tucker-esque!

Good song from her! She’s never been one of my favorites, but she does have some really good songs, this one included.
