Part 1: • DL Hughley on 5 "Promi...
Part 3: • Vlad Tells DL Hughley ...
--------
In this VladTV clip, D.L. Hughley spoke about the wildest things he saw while at ‘Freaknik.’ The comedian noted that he saw a lot of sex just openly happening and even mentioned a moment where he saw a girl he liked with two men. Hughley then talked about how he wouldn’t want any of the women in his life to attend Freaknik because of how dangerous it was for women.

This whole FreakNik situation is a PERFECT example of how folks been living a lie, tryna make folks believed you were a saint from day 1…and judging young people…when you were out here WILDING! And it’s a perfect example of your past catching up to you. Bad decisions ALWAYS have a way of catching up to you.

@@AlexiusS Uh, that’s really not all that common. For people to hold things together, and then during a particular day, weekend or holiday letting loose. That’s how most people tend to work. As most have self restraint. Personally I don’t really have much. But I know more people that do, than don’t.

Vlad and DL missed the mark entirely on this one. The reason black professionals are likely suing and complaining is because this documentary is being co-produced by Jermaine Dupree and Uncle Luke from 2 Live Crew when the origins of freaknik were positive and rooted in the black college/greek community. Freaknic used to be a chill, tame, and positive spring break event started in the 1980s for black college students only. In 1993, Uncle Luke and other rappers were invited down by non- HBCU-people to put on concerts, but they corrupted and hijacked freaknic from college students. Luke and other rappers brought strippers, prostitutes, and porn stars from all over the country to Atlanta and soon non-college hood folks, criminals, minors and older people followed. They even changed the name to from freaknic to freaknik. Many black college students complained about the events turning ratchet, lewd and violent and about non-college people attending what were supposed to be college student only events. Most students stopped attending after 1993/1994 because it was out of control and dangerous. HBCU school officials actually started sending out letters and warning black college students not to attend freaknik anymore in 1993. The people having sex, orgies, and naked in public are strippers, porn stars, prostitutes, the hood folks, criminals and likely minors (which opens up a hosts of issues like child sex abuse and child porn for Hulu). Most college students unless they were raped, sexually assaulted, bribed, threatened, heavily intoxicated or drugged are not stupid enough to do that. Most black college students do not want anything to do with hood people, criminals, or sex workers. What educated black professionals are likely concerned about is Luke trying to use footage from his freaknik raunchy events and the sex workers, criminals and hood folks who were engaging in public sex acts. And then combining that with freaknic footage from the 80s and early 90s where it was just a college student event. This would confuse the audience and falsely imply that black college students were also involved in criminal acts and degeneracy. I could tell that is where Luke was going when he was talking about the documentary and grinning like the Cheshire Cat. It was sneaky like he is trying to make a buck off black college students and professionals. "Crabs in Barrel" mentality right there. No educated professional wants to be associated with that or "Luke's version of freaknik" because it can harm their reputation and careers. Hence, all the lawsuits and probably more to follow. Not surprised frankly.
