Edit: Seems Technical Balaclava is on interloper, but only as a reward from the Tales. It could previously also be found in caches, but that was a bug. So yes, there is ONE on loper :)

Came here to say that. Yeah. It's a pretty nice reward. Pretty much a sidegrade but 0.05kg lighter.

Fire hardened arrows look like a cheap way to raise bow skill fast, if you're willing to dance with a bear that is. 😂

Deer and rabbit was how I was going to try, I imagine the hit raises the same as a regular arrow, and deer takes more hits and rabbit it food. I don’t want to be the guy who tests how many it takes to kill a bear, cause i tried a wolf and died immediately

@@sleepyproduction7166 you can't kill anything but rabbits with them, but it raises skill, so bear comes to mind due to the fact it chases you, but is also slower.

While beachcombing gives you renewable matches the guaranteed spawns seems to have all changed/been removed. Just started a loper in FM, no matches in Spences/hunting stand. No matches in Camp Office in ML, none in Fire Tower, none in the trailers or Trappers, none anywhere until a friggen luck drawer draw in the dam (which is very dark now). Three days on the one FM derail flare. All things considered I think it balances out.

Already, but rarely. Matches can be found in some corpses on beach after a blizzard. that was on stalker difficulty

For some reason, the Long Dark is one of the few games that make me feel genuinely comfy (similar feel to reading a favorite book).

Fair, i feel that too. And you SHOULDN'T. Your life is always in pretty major danger. One wolf or bear could give you a hell of a bad time. Food can spoil fast, and food doesn't really respawn. You, don't respawn. Maybe, that's what makes it feel so calming. You know you won't make it forever, one day mother nature will take you. But today, you can hug the fire for dear life, and warm up a nice meal. Maybe tomorrow your food stocks will run out. Maybe in a week you will fall on a scavenging mission. But for now, all you need to worry about is the fire. And the food.

I believe that wolves AI changed. Earlier only one wolf would follow you (pretty sure others would ran away, if I remember corretly), now many can stalk you at the same time.

One problem with the rifle holster is that it takes up one of your clothing slots, so unfortunately you need to remove either the moose satchel or the crampons to use it. I wish they made it like the technical backpack or increased the amount of extra clothing slots.

I had a glitch where I killed a moose with the flare gun and was able to recover my shell.

I did find one error: The Field 31 note says there is a radio tower to fix in Mystery Lake, but that is incorrect. It’s actually in Pleasant Valley at the radio tower there. The quest description is correct.

Thank you! I searched ML for awhile and couldn't find a transmitter, went to my objectives and saw it was PV and thought to myself "why on earth did I think it was in ML?" and thought I lost my mind lol

Hey Zak, congrats on your new addition to your family. Hopefully your little one is a fan of sleep. Quick question. I'm on an interloper run (140ish days in) and noticed that with the cars in the world, you can open their gas hatch. Never noticed this before, just wondering if it was something I've always missed, or for some reason they added that (possibly to add a siphon function in the future?)

Oh ok. Thank you both! I've never noticed until last night when I was outside of Quanset garage. A siphon feature would be interesting though, having a feature where gasoline is an item for crafting that can be beneficial but dangerous

Beside the radio feature, I think one of the best changes is the beachcombing rework, it makes ultra worth to just go around at the shoreline every blizzard and then, and just get a lot of free stuff, long term is crazy good.

Speaking of cougar I’m pretty sure the most likely zones a solitary mountain lion poser it is most likely in the upper parts of ash canyon Timberwolf mountain probably pleasant valley mountain town hrv black rock mainly mountainous areas

I’m glad to learn that the hockey jersey and aviator cap is a legit find in interloper. I have both but have been wondering if they were bugs. The Jersey adds plus 3 to wind bonus. Very useful in areas like FA and Bleak inlet

Windproof bonus is only meaningful on the outer most layer that is worn, otherwise it doesn’t stack to the total windproof stat. If the hockey Jersey happens to be the most outer layer you have….you should get out of FA asap

I have the wool sweater also. And 2 bear coats. The wool sweater doesn’t give much wind bonus. But with all that I still get hammered by cold in FA and BI pretty quickly.

I have found three of the bunkers, and I love Signal Void so far. The game is so much more interesting with a quest. I am looking forward to the next two updates, which I expect will be a new area and a new quest.

You can see all the future changes of this DLC posted by the devs, in community I think, or check the fandom wiki which is easier. They are yet to be explained further, but basically two more areas are gonna be added by the dlc, near the airport region, alongside with a new animal, the cougar and more new features

Ok hear me out. I’d love to see an old flint lock or percussion hunting rifle that can be used in either interloper or not but essentially a way to melt lead over a fire into moods which is what they did and use gunpowder to load without a cartridge case. Hard hitting-ish slow reload a very frontiersman style gun and item which adds to the mountain man style of the game. Can be used in interloper as a gun but very heavy and slow reload as a way to use gunpowder and lead but also not great as it could be inaccurate, heavy and slow. Just an idea but would be very cool nonetheless

I think be cool if everything did not all decrease in condition and that is not saying nothing should get ruin, just that a month in game a coat etc is ruin if you are not quick enough. If it was a couple years in game be way more understandable

I ALWAYS get bored around day 100 on my runs, so I love having signal void thus far. It gives you a constant goal to work towards other than the old *hit all the big loot* mentality like summit + mine etc. My current loper profile i started fresh for signal void is ~ day 45, repaired the desolation point tower so far and I'm almost ready to head to airfield and pick up the shortwave

Update : day 64, repaired the PV, FM, DP, & FA transmitters. Found the FM bunker & 3 caches in CHW while looping back to base to drop off loot and resupply / repair. Died to an aurora wolf who came up to me as I approached a cliff on the back end of misanthropes island in chw :( Let the lesson be learned. Carry a hammer or prybar for struggles lol. I was so close to winning with my tiny knife

I agree - I only play Deadman or Birchman (very hard Interloper) and really like the new beachcombing ability and I enjoyed the TALES addition in Interloper - was really fun. I somehow got a revolver also in my current run and really enjoy decimating the local wildlife - even packs of 5 timberwolves chasing me down....and then go to nearest ammo work centre and make some more ammo for my gun. Finding enough batteries though for lead is very hard to find....since I needed almost all of them for TALES.

Was able to find the tech balaclava twice on interloper, once in the bugged location, and then it was in the final bunker. With the Aviator Cap and flight jacket spawning in the Camp Office on this run, all the clothing is there. Nice. Still wearing double bear coat, but the hockey jersey is a good under-layer. Only found 3 flare shells. 3. Loot is clearly more variable, which gives each run its own flavor. Also nice.

I got to far territory, remembered I had a lot curing back at mystery lake and just restarted. Got my clothes, and arrows crafted, about to head back to the far territory again.

Another glitch I have noticed since signal void came out. If you find multiple iterations of the same book, you can read them over and over to get a level up.

Great video Zak. I'm still relatively new to TLD ~130 days on Voyager (I stared Pilgrim but found wolves and bears too hard to hunt because they ran away). My only issue is the glitchy bears where they zoom around making them impossible to predict and all of a sudden they're attacking you. Hopefully it gets patched soon :D

I’ve also stepped out of trappers cabin, and watched a wolf charge over a hill, run past deer, and come straight for me. It was like a homing missile, the game said ‘f you specifically’ it was weird, I’m newer too and thought it couldn’t be right.

The Tac-B is, and isn't, available in loper. Instead of the holster, you can get it as the reward for completing the tale in the final bunker, in interloper. But it's not meant to be part of the normal loot pool.

wolf AI change: in my experience only 1 wolf charged in the past at a given moment, now i've had a few of them running at me when i've drawn my bow. makes the fights more interesting.

Regarding wolfs, I was attacked by one wolf that i've just hit him with an arrow. Never happened to me before, but not sure if it is a new "behaviour" !!!

If the wolf has detected you, it will attack you even if you hit it, provided you didnt kill it. This isnt new :) With fire-hardened arrows they always attack regardless if they have detected you

@@Zaknafein Yes. That's right, but what happened was a bit different. The wolf attacked me while he is in "runaway mode" and because of the terrain he has to pass by me again. This is new to me. My experience is that they attack you again, but only after they resume their "normal" mode, where they start by stalking the player. But again, it could be just a coicidence and this behavior was already in previous versions of the game !!!

I want to have another difficulty mode harder than stalker, but easier than interloper. Like interloper temperatures with more loot and this indian sweater snd rifle. Another thing is better system of health - staying in cold can make you sick, antibiotics weaken your body etc. Being hungry drains your energy faster and makes temperature lower. Being freenzing drains your hunger. (Hunger should be easier to sustain to balance it) Last thing is temperature dropping slightly every 50-100 days

hi zak in my case day320 interloper i haven't found any of the new clothing items (found all of them in stalker) but the technical balaclava in the last bunker of the Tale.

I’ve been playing the game for 6 Months and I still can’t survive interloper for more than a couple days. If I spawn somewhere like ash canyon I can’t even survive the night 😅

Yeah, interloper can be pretty rough. When I started playing (back in Feb) I decided to play _only_ interloper at first. My first 25 starts were pretty short as my only game/map knowledge was from youtube videos. However, my 26th run is still going and is almost to day 350. Once you get over the initial hurdle of getting the bow, the game opens up substantially. Don't be ashamed to start a pilgrim run for the purposes of exploring a region. Just a few days ago, I started a pilgrim run to practice billy goating down the waterfall at the AC gold mine. Spoiler: there is a 100% safe way down from the gold mine back to the cave with the waterfall. If I ever make TLD videos for youtube you can be sure I'll demonstrate it. It makes for a delightfully efficient loot loop to grab the backpack, loot miner's folly, then close out the day with a fishy feast at angler's den

@@jamesmcdonald3054 I play on voyager. My main save is well over 200 days i just can’t remember the maps well enough to get around on interloper. I’ve found the hammer once and thought for sure that would be the run I survived for awhile on. And then I got eaten by a wolf

On Voyager, I have never run into Aurora wolves when I had the transponder out. I am wondering if the route from the tower to the bunker is intentionally kept clear.

Thanks for the video an explanations. What about existing runs? Let's say I checked all the houses around Mystery Lake. Do I have to check them again? And if it is said that a drawer is empty, is this then true or do I nevertheless have to check it again for the case that with the second update they have placed a new item in this drawer?

Most new items will be added to world spawns, like fuses laying around. If you opened a drawer and it said empty, then it should still say that after the update. If not, then you should be able to search again. I would just play normally and just keep an eye out when you revisit old places.

I have seen good things and some very bad things posted in the comments such as the DLC not working or appearing after purchase. I wanted to know if this is out yet for the Xbox version of the game before I buy it in full to keep my hype up for the game. Thank you, very much I love your content!

Thanks for your content. I wanted to ask you something. I am trying to unlock the achievement "Living off the land" (You have survived 25 days consuming only calories from plants and wild animals in a game), I was playing a game on Traveler difficulty in survival mode, I already spent 25 days without eating anything else that animals and plants and it doesn't give me the achievement, do you have any idea what's going on? I'm playing the new DLC.

Are you sure you have not eaten some found food at all? No snacks, coffee etc? And is it 25 days in the calendar or days survived in stats?

@@Zaknafein Yes I am, sure, unless some update has been installed in the middle of the days played, 25 days survived, and no achievement, I'm going for the "Silent Hunt" achievement, maybe if I continue to eat only meat I can get the other one achievement. It is VERY unclear if survival mode has new regions if you buy the DLC... I'm tired today but from this video it seams DLC is only more stupid story-mode? (I love the survival, only played chapter 1 and 2 so far... there are much better rpgs if one likes more in-depth storylines) It's just very confusing. Initially of course I thought "dlc, great! - new regions..." But then I watched this video haha

Hi, sorry if it isnt clear - new regions are for survival only. The entire DLC is ONLY survival, no story mode at all. Its just that they added some story elements into the survival mode. I highly recommend the DLC - you get a bunch of stuff, including the new regions.

In brief; it is paid busywork with a crudely written crappypasta that is reddit tier attached to it. Thankfully I pirated it before buying it. Totally not worth buying.
