For more than 20 years, the 5-axis cnc machines of the portal series from Pfronten have set standards in the field of precision mechanical engineering. A world without them is no longer imaginable, even outside of metal cutting production! The semiconductor industry profits from lithography machines whose components are manufactured on high-precision portal machines. Automobile manufacturers can develop ever more sophisticated car body molds because they can rely on 5-axis portal machines as the backbone of automotive tool and die making. The aerospace industry achieves unprecedented part quality thanks to full technology integration of milling, turning and grinding, ensuring maximum passenger safety. Thanks to 5-axis technology in large format, portal machines ensure that hydroelectric power can be converted into energy. Mechanical engineering also benefits worldwide from portal machines from Pfronten, which repeatedly demonstrate their performance in demanding machining operations such as gear production. With over 1,400 Portal machines installed worldwide, our customers are working around the clock to ensure that tomorrow's world is a better one than the one we live in today.

I was in in charge of our company’s first 5 axis machine purchase and did the programming . 15 year 5 axis veteran. The thing most people overlook is “How robust is the Post” Then the question becomes do you have a post and simulation for your level of tool path software? The last thing I wanted to get into was Post development that then belonged to someone else. If you have a proven post and simulation that reads from code (Not from Toolpath) this machine will be a winner. Great video
@DMGMORI

Hello, thank you very much. We have both. A post processor that generates G-code based on tool path and a machine simulation that reads code and simulates the movements.

The VFX team must have sweat 💦 till production, details are amazing Good modelling & Animation really appreciate it. & Ofcourse literally machine is a Godfather. Just one thing I didn't see, Coolant never saw anywhere cutters using coolant system would have been great if added during post production. It is what it is right If possible release the machine file for testing purpose.
@DMGMORI
@DMGMORI Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your feedback. It's difficult to add coolant as VFX, besides we don't see any advantage in it than it becomes more realistic but less visible. That's why we always process dry in our videos, although it is not recommended. The 3D model of the machine can be purchased with the machine for testing purposes. If you have workpieces that you would like us to test on the machine as a feasibility study, please contact your local DMG MORI representative or contact us here: en.dmgmori.com/company/contact

I’ve also worked on a Deckel-Maho-Gildemeister CNC milling station. Though not as advanced as this one. The first question that came to my mind was; how many tools can you put on idle in the toolstacker? Couldn’t give it that much thought because then they showed me that they had a 1m long speeddril with 2 tungsten tips ready for action 🤩 That just blew my mind. I do love short videos like this. Magnificent!

I saw the title and it claims “pinnacle of engineering” and thought that was quite the stretch of a claim. Then I proceed to actually watch the demo and was fairly impressed. It’s not necessarily the pinnacle of engineering, but it’s definitely a nice tool that can make one. It’s mostly for machinists, but me as a mechanical engineer really makes me want one.

What an awesome piece of kit! I don't need one, I know I can't afford one (likely a 8 or 9 figure price tag for a complete setup), but if I was ever in the position to purchase a system like this for my needs then I know where to come! Nice work by the video effects team with the CGI-to-Realtime Scene integration, very smooth and seamless! As a point of note, you might benefit from highlighting the tools or parts being mentioned with a red transparent shade that flashes at each stage things change or happen, with semi-transparent red arrows indicating the direction of motion or action.
