You know he was clean and sober from the day his grandmother died until around early 00s when he relapsed again. The only reason why he achieved what he did in the mid 90s and early 00s was only due to being clean. X wrote that in his autobiography 'Earl'. Basically, his grandmother was the one who made him believe in his music career.

yea too bad he didnt take care of them. u must be unaware about his huge case which sent him to jail ... police in Arizona went to his house and found 20 dogs malnourished with bones literally popping out from not eating in months and another 10 dogs dead from dog fighting. he had dogs to do dog fights with where dogs would fight until 1 dies.

He’s not Jesus honey, he was human just like us. I’m a fan too but to say he did it so we can heal is a stretch but he did use his pain through music which obviously helped a lot of people.

I saw him in concert too with jay z in South Carolina in 1999.and it was a very good concert. And he did a prayer and the audience went silent and he was a amazing. Cause my grandmother bought me tickets to see X because she knew that I had a huge crush on him when I was a teenager.😊

I really miss DMX. Not sure what happened to pop but rap is still great and dmx did a lot for hip hop. He doesn't seem like he'd be a super nice guy in his videos but he's a really nice guy. I miss him now that he's gone but he's legendary. For as long as humans are around, dmx will be forever remembered as one awesome guy. God bless you dmx and your family. From one of millions of fans, you're always loved in this life and beyond.

This is a very well said comment Philip, alot of people hurt over this loss. One thing for sure judging from the time stamp of these videos and comments some weeks ago. X was well loved and kept genuine interest of fans and whichever lives he touched. He wasn't perfect by far but his philosophy and loyalty was unshakeable . Blessings to you

So many just let it eat them up and make them monsters but i always heard the deep love in his heart for his craft and for people. If I could tell him one thing it would be this, Thank you DMX for all the great music you gave the world and for helping me through deep depression and suicidal thoughts. You are always loved by all of us, especially those that your lyrics touched. The song, "Slippin" is one of the most powerful songs to me because at that point in my life I was at the lowest. Had a bad job, no money, a decent car but no future and nothing to look forward to. If you had not existed, and if Rap never existed, I would have killed myself many years ago. Did not know what God had planned for me then. Thought it was nothing but suffering and I wanted to end it all. But your lyrics and those of many of my other hip hop heroes saved my life. You are an angel to many D and especially to me. Thank God for me now that you are there with him.Much love always and forever DMX."
