+ Hi Not the "most dangerous place in the world" tbh, I've seen this in person, but it is not chucky cheese either. It's not secure, secure and a heavy military presence are not mutually inclusive. The NK special forces have to infiltrate to SK through that huge minefield and back to graduate, so it isn't secure even with all of the military presence for example. Cyber attacks will cripple a brand new computer if you even plug it in in SK(edit: to the internet). Tensions are always elevated. These soldiers posture for each other every single day of the year. People that don't know any better these days will say "We are going to war with NK!", when we have been at war with them for 60+ years. The entire site you are looking at would be a crater during the first 10 minutes @ the end of the cease fire.

In nK, the soldiers have 10 years of mandatory military service, while SK have 2 years of mandatory service. In SK, when a day comes for a senior enlisted to be discharged, the members who have worked with him throw a party for him. I think on the same context, they are taking a picture for the soldiers who are goingto be discharged soon.

The blue buildings are half in North Korea and half in South Korea. In the main building there's even a table on the border that's used for negotiations. Both countries share the building and with special permission, the North will let you cross onto their side for about 30 seconds (just enough time to take a picture and say you've been to North Korea). I'm not sure if they still let you do that,it depends on North Korea's mood.

Yep scared for both their families lives and their own. Once you try to defect, succeed or not your family gets into trouble either way, sent to CAMPS or EXECUTED. One thing you should know is defecting is only in the CHINESE BORDER where if you get caught they send you back and through the DMZ where it's full of LAND MINES and ELECTRICAL WIRES etc.. Some defectors that have defected and talked about how they're worried about their families back in N.Korea.

I was blown away by the stupidity of the woman in the video that said " Wow there is no Facebook in North Korea, that sucks is there no Google either?" Yeah having no Google sucks but what about being sent to a political prison camp? I think I know which option I would prefer. How can you go to the DMZ without any knowledge of North Korea? If it was a person that had never been to North or South Korea and thought North Korea had Facebook I could kind of understand, but this woman was in South Korea visiting the Korean Demilitarized Zone!

My first tour in Korea (2000-2001), there was a dress code you had to follow to be allowed into the JSA. If you were military, you had to be in your service uniform (Class A or B). If you were a civilian, no shorts, no jeans, no sandals. Essentially, you had to be in at least business casual. They have relaxed that since then, however. It was mostly to prevent giving NK propaganda opportunities.

I'm happy about the bad or good comments, i have to make clear I'm not american, yes i was a tourist recording this video was an amazing experience I'm glad i was able to be there in a unique moment. I honestly don't see the big deal, some people just like to bash about Americans, but again that tour wasn't only for Americans. anyhow just want to thank everyone for their comments and im glad you enjoy the video.

They probably got promoted and for a ceremony they got to take pictures in front of the DMZ or they did something good in the regime and were rewarded something along those lines

A very unusual, and somewhat awkward experience for those tourists to experience. Granted, it was still peaceful enough, and the North Korean soldiers seemed just as curious about the visitors as they were about them taking photos. I, for one, hope that one day, both Koreas will be unified in peace. It may take years, even decades, but hopefully both sides can reach reunification and usher in harmony and prosperity for all Koreans.

North Koreans DO have internet, but it's tighter than the great firewall of China. Hell, they even have their very own operating system. It's called "Red Star OS". It was distributed here by a Russian exchange student studying abroad. You can look up the OS and videos about it.
