As someone who does family genealogy in my own family, it's important to note that first/second cousins share either a grandparent or great grandparent. Narrowing down that grandparent gives you the pool of potential for parents.

The amount of love these kids are immersed in is what life is all about. At their age, their hearts are so tender and open. About a year and a half ago a lady contacted me through Facebook saying she was my mom's half sister. Getting to know her has been so special so it possible to find long lost family.

I’m a member of a Facebook group called DNA detectives, they have people called search angels on the group who work completely free and would be able to narrow down who Alex’s birth parents are by looking at his top matches if you’re interested in finding them. No contact from the birth family is needed if you prefer it that way. They are really knowledgable and can help in most situations.

So my husband found out last summer he has a half brother and the way he found out was one of his cousins was matched as a 2nd cousin to him. So they called my husband to see if his mother had any kids before she married his dad. Not that he knew of. So my husband took a DNA test and it turned out she did. I really hope you see this comment and everyone please like this comment so they can see. I also took an ANCESTRYDNA test and it calls everyone your cousin to be safe. So my 1st cousin is my aunt on mine and also my second cousin is my aunt from my biological dad. I am not adopted but I have never met my biological father or anyone from his family. So that person who is his 1st cousin could be his dad or uncle or anything. Also don’t be afraid to reach out to people on there to learn more about your family and yourself. I have a dad who legally adopted me and so I know the conflicting feeling u may feel at times bc you obviously have great parents. Me and my biological aunt messaged and she got me in contact with my bio grandma who is now putting me in contact with my siblings.

First cousins might be helpful especially with a half brother. Any 1st cousin that they don`t share has to be on the bio dads side. Fingers crossed that you can find out more.

Alex looked shocked when he found out he was half brothers, but a brothers bond is a brothers bond no matter what, they could not be blood at all and the bond would still be there, love makes them brothers. 👨‍👦

My results were super similar with 23andMe and Ancestry but somewhat different with My Heritage. For them, I just uploaded my raw DNA file from 23andMe. They are based in the UK so they have different samplings from all over. Won't probably help with finding Alex's parents, but it was interesting to see those results. Curious to find out about what site allows you to upload and it works on all the sites. Not heard of that one!

90% of "jr" boys have the exact same name as the father. Just look up that entire name specifically and see what you can find. A lot of people use social media now a days, it's worth a shot.

crazy pieces...on ancestry, if its a high amount match, it can be closer than 1st/2nd cousin.. my dads sister is on it and it told me she was like 1st cousin.. they was close, she's my 1st cousins mom... she's still in that line tho. lol.. (i knew her before doing the site) but a 1st or 2nd cousin still might be able to tell you info tho..

My half-sister was born in 2000. She said "Christmas tree" one time at 18 months and she really didn't speak words until she was 4. I first learned of apraxia in 2016. I am now convinced she had the condition. It's crazy how much it didn't effect her or us. We just figured she would talk eventually and she did.
