Yeah that’s true but the way our bodies are picked apart so often does lead to lots of insecurities, I think that they do have a point in that many people are ashamed or don’t like their bodies. Also clothes are an amazing way to showcase individuality and show off what you like on your body. We just need more body positivity overall clothed or not lol.

Because unfortunately sexual assault will always be a thing that happens. It happened in Victorian times when women were wearing corsets and several layers and big dresses, it happened in the 50's when men were wearing full suits and women were wearing big dresses, and it happens now. Sexual assault happens regardless of whether someone is clothed or not.

@@chopia1533 Do you know that people aren't born to be nudists? It seems likely that being a nudist requires a certain type of personality that leads one to that lifestyle. That's a matter of disposition which probably is not a choice. Where the societal persecution comes in when nudists choose to act on their dispositions and go against the grain by joining nudist communities and going nude in public spaces. This is similar to being gay in that merely being attracted to people of the same sex is a matter of disposition, but choosing to date/have sex with the same sex and take part in gay community (bars, clubs, online spaces, etc) is a choice. And like with being nude, the persecution comes in the choice made, not merely the disposition (at least in the most modern, rich countries like the US).

This reminds me of smoking laws. There's places to smoke and not to smoke. Smoking is a choice. Nudity is a choice. Allow others to have the opportunity to choose if they are comfortable in an environment where nudity is accepted. I'm sure lots of people can't be around smokers as some people don't feel comfortable being around the naked body. There's a place and time for everything. We also have to think collectively and stop ignoring how others feel. When we are apart of communities, we obviously have to stand up for our people, but you should also have a responsibility to protect others. I personally think that's the most humane way to live. It's all about compromise and being genuine. I was r*ped. I don't want to see other people's bodies. But I respect your beliefs. So I'd want to know that places I go are safe for me you know? Since it's my responsibility for my trauma. And if that's your place to be nude, I'm happy for you and I personally won't go there... If that makes sense.

I mean it's not hard to look up to info. The europeans didn't show their legs, but their clevage were enormous. Them and the romans could almost walk their breast out, why do you think so many work of art showed naked women? not all of them were prostitutes. What's happening today is just not new

My heart sunk during the “it is okay to be nude in front of kids and minors” part. they claim it isn’t sexual even though the organs they are showing serve a sexual purpose. that’s like going into a place that says “no guns allowed” with a gun, and when you get caught by the cops with a gun in your hand you just say “what’s wrong? I wasn’t gonna use it?” People will be afraid because of the fact that you have a gun (are nude) when guns (nudity) aren’t permitted, and they will think you have bad intentions. This stuff shouldn’t be normalized in public especially for children to see.

to the point of the legality of being naked in public: if everyone’s intent was like these ppls it would be fine but there are inevitably weirdos who will use it for sexual gratification and exposure. Would you mind elaborating on what you mean by "using nudity as sexual gratification or exposure"? Unless it is harassment or public sex, they should not be prosecutable. Otherwise just use the laws we already have in place. Nudity itself should not be restricted simply on the basis of helping certain people commit crimes. Its the same as with the gun laws. There are a lot of things that would be wrong to subject unconsenting people to, that are either legal or if they are illegal - are confining to certain minorities. My answer to such matters is that the laws simply shouldnt be decided by the majority - instead people could be allowed to segragate themselves by groups where everyone agrees with one another as much as possible.

Ok but the whole point is, if we work on "de-sexualizing" bodies, the only process to get there is allowing people to be free and naked if they feel like it. The more you let people know that it's legal, the less it will be stigmatized to actually show your body in the most natural way. U feel me? I also don’t like seeing people make out in public (to be fair quick kiss is fine, I mean going to town make out) They made a large argument about sex and sexualizing the human body and that it’s wrong and It’s true to an extent. The world would feel like a public toilet LOL. Also, there are certain clothes which are really necesary if you dont want to damage your body, I mean i think walking without shoes on on the street can be painful and also dirty, shoes aid in support and stability of our foot so they are important. Apart from that the risk of catching a skin contagious "illness" increases , I caught one at the pool on the sole of my feet... The amount of skin you decide to show does not necessarily measure your level of confidence, self esteem or freedom. If this is something that’s liberating to you, by all means, stand by it. But “my freedom stops where yours begin” is especially true regarding extreme positions like this one. Not everything that’s marginalized should be globally normalized. There’s a reason we were born naked just like there’s a reason we now wear clothes. I also found the comparison to gay ppl and women who wear the niqab slightly offensive and ignorant. Pretty much saying that these women are forced to cover up their faces, when they’re, in majority of cases, not at all. Same with women who wear the hijab. It’s a choice. They choose to be modest and that’s their view of body liberation and their way of expressing their religious freedom. So EVEN if being naked outside was legal and normalized, these women (and even men) would NOT adhere to that because of their religion. You don’t hold the power nor the monopoly of freedom and body positivity because you chose to go about your life naked and you’ve been taught that freedom looks a certain way. Freedom comes and is expressed in all shapes. As for the gay bar comparison…what?! Sexual orientation isn’t a choice, them being ostracized, targeted, victimized and KILLED for who they fundamentally are and can’t change, is far more outrageous than you receiving awkward looks for a CHOICE you made and that’s reversible. The LGBTQ+ community is constantly being persecuted for who they are, that’s why they need spaces where they can feel safe and protected. It makes sense that grocery stores wouldn’t allow ppl to come naked, but it wouldn’t make sense for them to ban ppl in the LGBTQ+ community. It would make sense for movie theatres, public transportations, schools etc to ban naked people, but it wouldn’t make sense if they ban the LGBTQ+ community. I think there’s a lack of perspective in their discourse. Regardless of my opinions, this was a very interesting video with very interesting views. I just wish questions about health and hygiene (homeboy said he has a brown couch just in case, I mean…), predators that could use a potential legality of nudity, to fulfill their dangerous agendas, SA survivors who could easily be triggered because they might have a difficult relationship with nudity etc were brought up. I also wish we were able to have people from the trans and non-binary community as well as people with body dysmorphia. These participants seemed to heavily agree on everything, so there were no nuances nor any different perceptions really. It was hardly a debate. This is a discussion that goes far beyond “well I wanna be naked and everyone in society needs to approve of my choice”. However, I definitely support the idea of having many places that allow nudity!

They were forced to cover up - they're just brainwashed. No other religion or culture in the history of mankind has ever had such extreme forms of body hiding as the niqab. Don't delude yourself, no one would choose that if they were remotely free not to and not living in an extremely repressive culture. Attempting to look liberal and progressive has you defending one of the most absurdly opressive forms of dress of all time, which even most people in ancient times would have thought was opressive to women.

no honey, nobody's forced to wear hijab or niqab they chose to do that by their free will just like how these ppl chose to go nude Muslims chose to cover up, yes it's advised/recommended by their religion but they r the ones who chose to do it hence why u see alot of muslim women not wearing hijab or niqab, it's really hypocritical how u support people going nude but not people covering up completely as it's a personal choice that we shouldn't comment on. if u think Muslim women are brainwashed into covering up then ur delusional who's brainwashed about what their religion, u know u shouldn't judge that at all if they didn't wanna wear it they can just not care about religion and do whatever they want. religion/ur appearance/what u wear/what u hide and what u show r all personal choices that people shouldn't be judge by, wearing niqab doesn't limit ur life choices cause it's such a trivial part about themselves, it's exactly like if someone wants to grow their hair or cut it short they have freedom to do so and nobody judges them for it, just like it should be with people wearing niqab and hijab.

Considering how photos of women's chests are still censored to this day, I think we would have a long way to go before having more nude spaces that don't evoke unwanted sexual attention. Women's breasts aren't inherently sexual but were sexualised by men despite their function being to feed babies, so even to dismantle that and make it normalised for women to be topless would be extremely difficult because there will undoubtedly be unwanted sexualisation and non consensual attention or behaviour. That said, I think a beautiful part of this was showing that most nudists do it for liberation, and society shouldn't view it as being a sexual thing. Making it more normalised does have potential to make nude bodies less sexualised and appreciated differently over time

@@camd2871 while I don't think it should be legal I also don't agree with your point because your traumas and triggers ARE your responsibility. That's like people with self harm scars having to cover their bodies because their visible scars trigger someone else.
@camd2871
@camd2871 3 жыл бұрын
@@hdmm9136 sure I see what you mean. I would say your self harm analogy is different. You cant take scars off, they are there forever. As for clothes, well they can be put on and taken off by anyone. If I see someone with scars, a thoughtful thing would be to not bring attention to it or not talk about possible triggering things. Although it’s their problem they struggle with harming themselves, as a thoughtful human being I would want to do my best in not reminding them of that. So for nudists who are unapologetically going to be nude, even if it may trigger others who have sexual trauma, maybe even triggers that involve literally just seeing strangers nude, I think it’s selfish of them to totally disregard that for their own sake. Not everyone is thoughtful or caring, but this is just one of those things where it would be an overall positive thing to be thoughtful about. Btw I’m not calling all of them selfish lol I’m just saying with this topic we do need to be thoughtful of others, as for anything else.

@@camd2871 Ok but being nude is the basic default state of any human being, it's our society and culture that brainwashes us into thinking it's weird, uncomfortable and sexual. Although nudity can be a trigger or makes people uncomfortable it does not create trauma in itself, it's the same as many other possible triggers for traumas that we don't ban from society (like cars, lights, fireworks, clapping). In fact exposure therapy is the most effective treatment for traumatic disorders, sheltering oneself from basic things and never doing the effort of getting out of one's comfort bubble actually accentuates sensitivity to such trauma. And the truth is, nudity IS a basic thing that everyone should be comfortable around, even if our culture wants us to believe it is sexual and weird.

The human body IS overly sexualized. It's a body. Everyone has a body. Size, shape, skin tone, body art... those are the differences. Breasts aren't inherently sexual - they are used to feed infants and people try to sexualize THAT. It's ridiculous. A penis, while flaccid, is just hanging around. So what? it's just a penis, not a weapon and not something dirty and wrong.

Some of their views on public nudity seem extremely selfish to me. A parent should be able to protect their child from something they believe is in appropriate for their child to see, end of story. Not to mention all the sick people that would use this as a way to get of and cause harm to others. I don’t care what you do at the right place and time, but if you are making everyone around you extremely uncomfortable, that is just wrong on your part because there is often a lot more to peoples modesty’s than just “because society told them so”

I’m sorry but I don’t want public nudity to be legal. I don’t want to be on a packed tube with someone’s naked body rubbing up against me. Or imagine when it’s hot and stinky and I have to smell someone’s rank junk. No thank you.

@@carlie6466 i get that, and that's a valid point, i've seen nudists respond saying they put down towels. i believe if nudity is made legal in public (I supporth this, though not a nudist myself) it should be mandatory to place down a barrier of some sort, just when surfaces are being touched by body parts that are at risk of doing that. however, i do want to say, currently people wipe their snotty hands over everything, so we are already in a similar situation

@@Criner05 I see you’ve been commenting on quite a lot of comments, but her point was that, the truth is not what these people portray in the video. They say children will laugh and giggle innocently which is not true. She is recalling her experience which traumatized her, not make her giggle. I don’t think these people have bad intentions but fact is fact, feelings have no ground when it comes to fact. If a creep whips out his junks and strips in front of you, it’ll make you feel uncomfortable. If one of these nudist walk infront of me even though the intentions are different doesn’t mean I won’t still feel uncomfortable. One thing these situations have in common, is that both are non consensual, and once that boundary is crossed it becomes assault because it messes a person up for a long time or even forever. Adult actors have even expressed they feel uncomfortable when getting unsolicited pics from people and they see and deal with these body parts everyday and they still feel weird so just trying to expose people from they’re young will not condition anybody to accept anything, and truthfully if someone has to conditioned from a young age (sounds like grooming), it’s not natural.

@@gabriellegibson34 You don't need someone's consent to be seen. If someone triggers my PTSD, that doesn't mean it should be illegal or they need my consent to trigger it. There's a difference between simply being naked and flaunting your genitalia/attracting attention to it.
