In today's video, we're bringing back the "Do All Rifle" series with the second episode. This will feature a 14.5 SPR / GPR / RECCE Rifle similar to the Block II in our last video, but with some differences that make it unique to the shooter who built it. Let us know what your ideal "do all rifle" would be in the comments below!
As always, make sure to stay subbed to the channel for more content like this. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them in the comment section, or dm us on our Instagram.

The beauty of the AR-15/10 is we can build them how we need and what works best for us. Great video. I will be honest I switched a while ago to the AR10. That said I reload so my cost is low.

I love concepts like this. The army and USMC have already done a lot of reasarch trying to build "GPR" or what I would call infantry rifles. Both groups have now landed on a LPVO 1x6 or 1x8 with a 14.5(m4) or a 16(M27) keep testing keep pushing new ideas, remember weight is the enemy. Good video guys. I really appreciate how much work you guys put into this. Also think about placing your red dot on a different mount, especially if you are treating it as a back up sight. If it is a supplementary sight top is the way to go.

I just finished my 14.5 gpr. Absolutely loving it. Razor 1-10, dbal, RC2, Harris bipod, and Surefire light. Even loaded down with all that it still beats carrying around my sixteen inch AR10 that’s set up the same way. If I have to grab one rifle for a do it all, it’s going to be my 14.5

I've really become a fan of the Spartan bipods. I have a Valhalla, and I love it. The mount is ridiculously low-profile, and the bipod legs slip on and off easily, quickly, and quietly. It's really nice having it in a pocket on my pack exterior, where the legs aren't getting hung up on EVERYTHING when I'm out in the brush. The utility of a bipod is fantastic, but I find that they spend a lot of time just getting in the way.

I get that its a GPR, but with a secondary sighting system for close range and with a laser designation device, it looks a lot more like a D.I.A.R.R.H.E.A. I know it's a long acronym, but it's a simple one: Do It All Recce Rifle (and) Hostile Engagement Armament

I live it man. Did similar with my block 2, law folder, and nx8 2.5-20, even put an LMT Enhanced BCG and bolt in it for longevity sakes. To me I don’t have a lot of money to invest in gear, but I want GREAT gear as this is my only hobby. When you have a GPR you can invest in the best glass and not feel guilty about it. Only thing ida done differently, if I had all the money at once and didn’t have to build over the course of 7 years is ida got an LMT mars with 13” quad rail. Having the ability to change barrel lengths, calibers, gas systems, with only a barrel or a carrier is the ultimate GPR. But the 2500 entry is hard for a dude that supports his wife and baby on only his income. One day she will be mine

I think that emphasis on “my” gpr is actually really important. I think we get too caught up in is it an spr or a gpr or a. Modern urgis are 14.5s with 1-8 atacr with lpvos. See the problem is that’s GP for infantry and sof. But for civilians an 11.5 with a red dot and magnifier is going to handle pretty much all self defense scenarios within rule of law. Longer shots at animals but we’ll never be shooting at 200+ unless things are really really bad. Then the big guns come out. And then the spr is kind of general. The problem is “gp” is so subjective. It’s general based on the environment and situation you’re in. And I hate “if you can only grab one” because it’s basically asking “what do you think the best set up is to do everything ok but nothing amazingly well.” Which looks different depending on who and where you are. The context is usually put as only one rifle for the end of the world things aren’t going back to normal any time soon post apocalyptic kinda ya know the drill. But what you would choose now may be very different if you’re actually in that situation because what you thought makes sense now wouldn’t then. It’s so subjective and grey
@projectblackhills

Great comment. I definitely agree that every persons rifle needs to be tailor built to their needs and environment. The best rifle for me and the best rifle for you could be entirely differant.
@MotoCampAdventure

Sweet build. I like the pragmatic approach of building a rifle for what you deem to make sense, rather and building what some door kickers may be using or what PRS shooters are using. Question: does that little Suunto compass actually work while on the stock? I'd assume there would be too much ferrous metal around to get an accurate azimuth with that little thing.
@projectblackhills
@projectblackhills 9 ай бұрын
Appreciate it! The compass does work on this particular stock as the plastic is pretty thick where it sits. But I’ve tried it on others where it doesn’t work. The main idea behind it is if I loose my chest rig and pack and everything else somehow that has my main navigation tools I have that final backup on my rifle. In which case I’d be removing it from the stock to ensure accurate readings.

I think people that say how heavy am SPR or any 13.7 14.5 16 18” 556 precision fighting rifle is, forget the autistic scratching that occurs at the mention of the name mk12 because everyone loves it that’s ever used it. Why? It’s a bit heavier and longer but what you get for the trade off is so much better than lugging around extra weight in gear you don’t need. Excessive gear will out weigh excessive gun, fast. IMO.

I think I have the same optic set up on my 18 inch. I have the 1.7 adm mount and for me, the dot on top was just slightly too tall. I canted it between the turrets and that seems to be working well. I may end up switching to a shorter mount all together though. Great video.

@@projectblackhills update: I have since changed the barrel out for a 13.7 ballistic advantage. I switched back to the piggyback red dot and added a cheek riser. The 45 degree mount was great but after messing around the piggyback with the cheek riser had an easier and more consistent presentation for me. Also, I traded the holosun red dot for a vortex crossfire 2 for easier passive aiming with night vision. It felt weird switching to a cheaper dot but somehow the glass is better on the crossfire. I can see through it with a pvs14 while the holosun was unusable at distance for me.

Is it 14.5 before or after the flash suppressor? I have a 14.5 1/7 right handed. With a sure fire war comp and a EOTech. I call it a CQB. A 16 with an ACOG with a bipod in the forgrip its my gen purpose. And a 16 I am tricking out as a recce build, 1×6 Aim point. I need a few things to finish it. Paint or not to paint?
