This woman is very knowledgeable and experienced, when it comes to raising and caring for bearded dragons. Everyone should watch this video before buying a bearded dragon. This was a very informative video. I love your content, and keep up the great work!!!

My sons beardie must be special. He loves to come out when the kids are full tilt crazy. Anytime my kids are playing loud and crazy he scratches at the door to come out and when hes out he sits on my hand and head bobs to the kids. No black beard or anything just sits and bobs. Lol.

As an Australian, I mostly approve of these keeping methods. I love how most Americans over complicate things, and lecture us Aussies how to keep them. But let me tell you what Beardies live on in the wild, as someone who has them running around in their backyard. This may surprise you, but Beardies don't naturally live on newspaper and tiles. They live on sand, soil, mulch, leaf litter, ect. Natural loose substrates. In regards to humidity, Florida is fine. In many parts of Australia the humidity in the wet season can be damn oppressive, and the Beardies love it. It's the wet and cold, and poor drainage that does them in. They actually often disappear during the dry season. Hope this helps. Don't listen to the keyboard warriors who don't see the sunlight for weeks at a time.

This isn't just an american thing, i've had people from northern eu give their own two cents. Reddit and Facebook groups seem to just fester this mob mentality a lot. A lot of the time, it's just people who live on drama, not actually about the "right way" to care for beardies.

Heather has a 5 star rating on Morph market for a good reason. Her attention to detail from care to shipping her bearded dragons out to her clients is second to none. Yes, we're a client. My wife and I bought Rebel (red bearded dragon) from her a year and half ago. We actually have two but we got Toothless before we knew Heather from watching Dave's channel. Both have their separate 4x2x2 terrariums. They're part of our family now. Thank you Heather for what you do for the hobby.

This is a so educational video. I hope lots of beardie’s owners watch this even though they knew how to care. It’ll be a great opportunity to reconfirm the setup of the enclosure is really good for the bearedie or not.
@davidvento5481

Those enclosures are brilliant for someplace like Florida. Up north here, not so much except perhaps during the summer months. I’m guessing there’s some way for water to drain out from the bottom (fine, coated hardware cloth or holes?) Otherwise those tubs would quickly become inundated during Florida’s rainy season. The pale (albino? leucitic?) baby dragon was amazing. Was hoping some of the many different color morphs they’ve developed were shown but more importantly she thoroughly explained their captive husbandry. There is so much conflicting-and-mis information online about, well... basically everything it’s good to hear it straight from an expert! My only concern would be the possibility of sand causing an impaction in the digestive system if too much was ingested during mealtime.

How important is it that the veggies are organic or not? I do not have a beardy yet (planning to get my first one soon) but I’ve got feeders for my leos and I always buy organic for them; would this be best practice for my future beardy as well?

What is your opinion on using hemp bedding for substrate?
@Dragonfujin
@Dragonfujin 9 ай бұрын
Great knowledge for sure. But nobody mentions what they eat in the wild. Beardies and reptiles similar to them need crunchy roaches or certain beetles as it helps them from teeth rot as they harder foods keeps them chewing more than the large morio mealworms. Longer chewing helps. I've uses Madagascan hissing roaches, and ones appropriate for ones size.

I have a question, she mentioned a slate tile for a basking surface.. i just went into my reptile store & the guy adviced me stay away from slate because "it cooks the insides of the dragon" obviously i can test the temperature/heat it receiving on the surface with a thermometer gun. So my question would be can i have a slate basking spot? p.s her bearded dragons are so pure

Question. I keep my bearded dragons outdoors, 6 months out of the year here in TN. I buy uvb bulbs around october when its time for them to come in. Do I need to supplement them with uv over the winter, or will heat alone work?
@davidvento5481
@davidvento5481 8 ай бұрын
I’ve always heard UV exposure for 6 - 8 hours per day is important even during the 6 month (or so) indoor period. Reptiles can get MBD - metabolic bone disease without it. I also dust all my guy’s food with an all purpose vitamin powder like Reptivite. She was accurate about “gut-loading” and hydrating feeders. Pet shops usually just give feeder insects potato slices and such starchy food as a constant diet isn’t great for the animals who eat them.

can someone explain to me... for the blue cage, does have a drainage system when it rains? Don't bearded dragons have problems with wet sand? And don't baby bearded dragons swallow sand when they eat?
@davidvento5481
@davidvento5481 8 ай бұрын
That was my question also, mostly about possible impaction issues of sand. I’m pretty sure those enclosures drain from the bottom somehow (screen bottoms, holes, etc.) If not they’d get flooded during Florida’s torrential rainy season.

They can tolerate the temps down in Florida, but when you go north it's just too cold. Some people can manage beardies pretty well outside, and for some it's just not possible, be it weather, area, or personal preference.
@dylanwicklund5129
@dylanwicklund5129 9 ай бұрын
I have a controversial opinion on bearded dragons because I don't think just everyone can have one just because I've seen the amount that have been badly taken care of have died been abandoned on the street and more because people couldn't take care of them properly or just didn't want them when they were bigger and I want that to change
@davidvento5481
@davidvento5481 8 ай бұрын
No animal should be an impulse buy or given as a gift to someone unprepared to care for it. Sadly many ppl treat reptiles as “disposable” pets, no animal is “disposable.”
@thatoneannoyingtornadosire8755
@thatoneannoyingtornadosire8755 8 ай бұрын
This is a common problem for every popular animal. Dogs, cats, birds, lizards... you name it. People will just buy them and have them as "display items", and get all of their info from the petsmart employee who probably couldn't even tell you where they come from without looking online first lol. We would be seeing mass amounts of other animals at shelters if they weren't already overcrowded with dogs and cats.
