Honestly with the way the world is going I can’t even blame them. In the heat of the moment, a random clip showing a cat getting a “boba shot” and then just plain old ignorance- not knowing a cats eyes can look like this naturally- it’s understandable ppl would freak out and comment. What’s annoying is they way they do it, usually through a hate comment, and then the way ppl respond. Instead of just simply explaining, arguments happen and the comments just explode.

idk why people think boba eyes can only mean that cat is scared. sometimes boba eyes appear when cats are playful and focused on their prey. cats have boba eyes in the dark to see better.

Yeah like when I see that my cat's eyes no longer can't be seen (he's a black cat) I know that he's going to jump on me or a toy lol. He's so playful and I actually have never seen his boba eyes in real distress only when he's playing or heard something but this one like for a second

Papaya is so adorable. My orange tabby is the same. Eyes basically black when hanging out or playing. He has beautiful green eyes when the pupils are more relaxed, but they go black when he gets real playful and loving. Vet says he’s perfectly healthy and there’s no worries with him. He doesn’t ever meow, but we think he just chooses to not speak (as his vocal box is fine) as he knows I will wait on him hands and feet with his adorable black-eyed stares.

They aren’t really supposed to have their pupils cover all of their eye so it probably seemed too unnatural. It's probably from selective breeding because people love big pupils.

I feel like all cats have boba eyes. Their pupils adjust based on the surrounding environment, dilating in darkness and constricting in light. Those individuals that the girl mentioned probably haven't had firsthand experience with cats, as anyone who has would recognize this behavior.

There are drugs that dilate your eyes at an eye doctors. You could probably give them to a cat, but it would probably harm them. A lot of drugs that we can take can kill our pets and our pets. Drugs can also cause us trouble, if we try to take it!

The only time when ‘boba eyes’ are bad is when they won’t react with light. My cat was hit by a car and his pupils were so wide and didn’t get smaller when a light was shined into them, it’s a sign of concussion. Another time they could be dangerous is if only one eye is wide.

Sometimes it's just the way they are, sometimes it's hypertension. (Often secondary to hyperthyroidism, my cats only indication of it when he was younger before it progressed was boba eyes and semi excessive grooming) Most vets don't check blood pressure unless you ask/make them in my experience, if yours hasn't given you blood pressure results, it might be worth telling them to next time to be sure :)

That's cute haha, we call ours vampyr eyes. She has Iris melanosis, so they always look fully black. You can only see a tiny bit of yellow during the day. Unfortunately it's a huge precursor to cancer and other issues but she hasn't had any issues for 10 years.

Boba is just tapioca balls that are often black. So she is saying the cat looks like it has "black tapioca balls eyes". "Black hole eyes" works too as a description. Anything black and round really fits... As does "very dilated pupil eyes"...

they will be slits during midday. cats' eyes typically match the time of day with how much or how little light they need to take in. midday during summer, your cat will have slit eyes.

My cat has slit eyes, mostly during the day and as it darker his pupils get bigger. So it’s normal, they’re pupils expand and dilate with light much like our own

y’all need to stop saying wrong things so confidently. cat pupils react to light just like human pupils do. they shrink in bright light and expand when it’s dark. slit pupils happen when light is directly shining on their face. pupils are there for depth perception, which is just light and shadow. to keep the balance to be able to accurately perceive depth, our eyes will take in less light if it’s brighter and more when it’s darker, hence why our pupils dilate. they’re also in charge of focusing, so whenever you’re looking at something specific your pupils will dilate to see that object better regardless of light/shadow. if their pupils don’t form slits when bright light is shown on their face you should be worried. all of this should be common sense, it’s not hard to comprehend so i don’t know how people can get it so wrong every time.

Actually their eyes adjust in lighting. When it’s really bright their eyes are sharp and while dark boba like. 🤩

I noticed that in the shot with the all-black eyes it seems that it's just the lighting. You can still see a very small edge of iris so it's not completely black. But, those pupils are really big!
