A few weeks ago, I had a Scorpion GPF delete fitted by Performance M to my F22 M240i and today in this video, I'll be explaining whether I actually regret having this done.
We'll also give the car some revs in various different modes so you can hear the differences as well as going for a little drive and explaining what it's like to live with on a day to day basis

I have the scorpion GPF delete pipe and 4.5" vrsf sport cat downpipe to the stock back box on my stage 2 m140. sounds amazing in sport/sport+ and no drone at 70 in eco/comfort. You can hear the turbo whistle when letting of at low revs its so cool, its worth every penny in my opinion. I recently had the car MOT and yes it did pass the emissions test was very close to the limit but did make it. However the cat needed to be heated up for around 20 mins on the ramp with the engine at 1500rpm and the cat is fairly new maybe 3000 miles on it. My car is a 19 plate so came with the GPF fitted ( I know the insurance and legal issues blah blah. Live a little lol ) i was so disappointed with the stock sound it had to go. If you have a pre GPF car what the hell are you waiting for. I was worried about turning it into a chav machine and being to noisy, but honesty its just perfect like that. To anyone stuck on the fence like i was about doing it, trust me just do it you will love it.

Did you have a CEL after the GPF delete? If you did, what did you use to remove it. Thanks.

@@SK-0161 I would say you will definitely get a CEL. I remapped it before I took it to the garage to have the work done. I just ticked the cat delete ( even tho I have sport cat I’m sure it still will show a cel ) and ticked the gpf delete on the remap software ( I use mg flasher ). It’s been absolutely perfect almost a year since fitted.

@@SK-0161 I should add that even tho I had completely stock exhaust at the time I only had to drive maybe half a mile to the garage. I’m not sure how the car would respond to the decat and gpf delete remap driving a long distance with the stock exhaust.

It did have a repair before my ownership I believe so they most likely put it back in wrong place 🤣

Was mapped with OPF off software so no warnings come on the dash. Standard as far as power is concerned.

Are there any other modifications that you’re considering Proving? Maybe springs or some new rims? Maybe tunes which you mentioned, intakes etc?

Few bits planned. Think I’ll be doing a few cosmetic changes over winter (splitter, diffuser etc) and hopefully reveal a bit of a “new look” some point in the Spring. Will be looking to tune it eventually as I’ve mentioned. Think I’ll be putting it on some 19” wheels at some point 👍

All declared on insurance. I’ve not had to do an MOT on the car yet as it was done just before I bought it so won’t know until then whether it will be an issue. Personally can’t see it being a problem though.

@@ProvingAutos You can't legally remove emissions kit (PPF, Cat, DPF, etc) makes the car unroadworthy, technically speaking. MOT fail, etc.

I had a double resonator delete for my 2017 M240i, really pleased with it. i declared it to my insurance and it had no affect on my my MOT, my car passed with no issues. Also had a stage 1 remap and fitted some spacers, cost me less than 1k in total to totally transform the car. Mine is a manual, best car I have ever had, that B58 engine is insane.

i want to get this done on my car and have been looking online and 2 brands keeping coming up, its either scorpion or cobra. Cobra cost abit more, I just wanted to know what made you go for the scorpion exhaust.

Scorpion has a bigger bore than the Cobra so would probs sound that little bit better. Plus cheaper 👍

I know this is off topic but I noticed your car doesn’t have the Harmon kardin sound system, how do your stock speakers sound to u and would you get them retrofitted

You’d be surprised how good the standard system sounds. But yeah, it would have been a nice thing to have. I do plan on retrofitting some point down the line if it’s possible along with a couple of other bits. Will do some kind of sound upgrade that’s for sure.

I’ve just replaced all of the HK speakers in my BMW Z4 M40i G29 with mid spec Musway. The difference in build quality and weight is incredible. I really wouldn’t bother retrofitting HK, I’d do for almost any aftermarket brand. Incidentally the company who sold them recommended i leave the stock speakers alone and swap the dsp/amp only for the greatest gains for my money. I didn’t listen and swapped the lot and now it’s awesome 🤩

Just OPF off software that Performance M used. Not a performance map (not yet anyway) No drone right now but looking to get one at some point in the near future.

Obviously forgot to mention that removing a GPF is illegal and invalidates insurance - if discovered of course 🤐

Hey, this maybe a silly question but does this affect emissions on passing MOT?? I have my m140 booked in for Cobra Sport mid pipe. 🙌

It does effect it. You’l fail your MOT and it’s illegal to remove the OPF if it comes as stock. It’s a shame these KZfaqrs dont tell you that on their videos. He’s since put a comment on saying exactly what I have replied to you but, very misleading to not mention it in the actual video as a disclaimer. Only an OPF back exhaust is legal and will pass MOTs.

@@awalton1701you don’t know what you’re talking about mate. I passed with my OPF delete on my x4m. You’ll pass any MOT as long as cats are in. Stop being so scared

@@awalton1701GPF OPF ppf what ever you like to call it has nothing to do with emissions on the mot test. It will pass all day. Only way it can fail is for a visual inspection and I bet you 9 time out of 10 it passes regardless.
