+FullyRawKristina I watched a really sad and disgusting video of someone slaughtering a pig with a sledgehammer. I am really upset and disgusted. they tied the pig up, smashed his head with a sledgehammer, and then started cutting him up. he hadn't died when they hit him with the hammer, but they still kept cutting him. another video was someone skinning a living baby sheep. it was the most horrific thing ever. I need to get this off my chest. I am furious

I tried sugaring on one armpit and I shaved the other one to test if it really worked. It's been a week and the armpit that I sugared is completely bare and the armpit that I shaved grew hair literally the day after I shaved, I have honestly found my solution to my hairiness praise the lord

What temperature do you need to boil the sugar? Also how long did you press it on your skin for and what was the consistency when it was ready? I really want to try sugaring.
@paolaruizz
@paolaruizz 8 жыл бұрын
+Dibidibidis I just put it over the stove until all the sugar dissolved and I waited until the paste cooled then I put it on my skin and it doesn't really matter how long you leave it in your skin because it's all natural and your just going to pull it off afterwards

I noticed many people commenting that sugaring is painful. It is not painless, for sure. BUT if you have been doing it for years (20 yrs in Kristina's case), the hair and the roots become really fine and thus it is less painful. It is the same as using a depilator on your legs - first time the pain is harsh, then it gets easier, and after a few times you are just slightly uncomfortable. Waxing/sugaring/depilating armpits is more painful because the armpit hair roots are bigger than, e.g. the hair on your legs. But with time even the armpit hair gets fine. Just think of the fact that rabbit fur is torn off to get angora wool. That pain is incomparable to what we have to tolerate.

@aurelia5818
@aurelia5818 8 жыл бұрын
quinna I'm speaking only for the hard wax/ paste (the method used without the cloth). You remove in the direction of growth to prevent ingrown hairs. I sugar my own armpits and legs, and go to professionals if I don't feel like doing it myself. They all do and say the same thing: apply in the opposite direction of growth, pull in the same direction. Now, if you are using soft wax with a strip of cloth, you do the opposite (apply in same direction, remove in opposite). I don't use this method, and neither does the sugaring place I go to, but some people that don't have the flicking motion down tend to use the strip method

For those who wanna try sugaring: It's a bit tricky at first, you will mess up the first few times, but it just takes practice. I did try both sugaring and waxing and actually sugaring tends to last a bit more (as in the hair takes a bit longer to start growing back) but it is also a bit more painful. Wax can also be natural (where I go to wax, the lady makes her own wax out of natural bee wax, as her uncle has beehives in the countryside) so there's no harm in it either. I personally prefer wax, but that's just me. I strongly encourage you to try both and pick the one that works best for you.

BTW, if you use a candy thermometer, you can get this process perfect every time. The temperature during boiling is indicative of the precise amount of water left in the solution, so taking it to the same exact temperature each time, will give extremely consistent results. That's just in case someone isn't a "pro at this", like Aunt Mary Katherine.

Great vid, love that you promote waxing/sugaring over shaving. I am Indian, and it is also more popular in my heritage to wax rather than shave, which in fact can be viewed as a bit taboo. In Middle Eastern/South Asian cultures, waxing has always been the preferred norm. I am highly enthusiastic about the procedure. Like you, I began very young, at age 10, at the behest of my mother. Something which in these cultures young girls begin before they even hit teenage. You have to bear the pain, but the results are phenomenol, a must for any beauty-conscious woman - indulge in the beautiful world of sugar waxes!

I know you are an amazing person so i understand that you probably didn't want to offend anybody, but it kinda contradicts the whole positive to your body life style a bit, doenst it?. Have pits if you want, don't have them if you don't want ... whatever makes you feel good...right? you can be sexy either way. If I misunderstood you i apologize in advance! I am a huge fan after all

For all the newbies: It hurts the first few times, but after a while, you get used to it. I used to use aloe vera gel and a cold cloth or ice pack for a few days after the treatment. You may want to try a less sensitive area of the body as a starting point. Of course, the less hair there is with each successive application, the less it hurts as well. Over time, the follicles become damaged and that is why the hair doesn't grow back as much. When you do it the first few times, it is possible for there to be little blood dots in all the follicles and then little tiny scabs as the follicles heal. But don't fear, it just means you have damaged the follicles a little more with each application and that means you will have less regrowth. Just clean the area very well and it will heal up quickly. If you are worried, you can get it done by a professional the first few times. Actual waxing, as opposed to sugaring, produces a similar effect if you can't find a sugaring salon. I haven't done this in years, but many years ago, I was a licensed aesthetician and the procedure is very safe, although it does take practice to get good at it. I find the front of the lower legs to be the least sensitive area of the body as a starting point. You can also try it on the tops of your fingers, toes and feet as these are also not too sensitive. If it is really sore after you do it, you can get some spray Lanacane (first aid spray) from the drug store and spray it on the area to numb it a bit until it starts to heal. Talk to your pharmacist about the best product to buy for numbing and sterilizing the area. Lastly, you should know that hair grows in three or more cycles. Kristina has been doing this for years and so hers grows back very slowly, but for newbies, the regrowth happens faster than 1 month although it will be a little more sparse with each application. But each time it grows in, it's not from the same follicles that you removed the hair from the last time. Initially, you may have to do it every 2-3 weeks, but after about six to twelve months of regular sugaring or waxing, you should start seeing the hair regrowth slow down quite a lot. Soon enough, you will be doing this as problem-free as Kristina. Cheers.

And if you read and between the lines she is trying to defend herself by saying that, because she thinks it's wrong as a girl to have body hair. That is just one example. And now I have a question for you! Do you think the boys start shaving their whole body when they are nine just like she did?
@susiiib2286
@susiiib2286 8 жыл бұрын
+My Pettersson she said that because the title of the video is very clickbait. If you only read the title, you WOULD assume that she doesn't shave at all, which, though there is nothing wrong with it, is not the norm in society. If you want to be offended, that's your business, but she specifically stated in the comments that she wasn't trying to push shaving on anyway or say her way of life is right. She's sharing a part of her Lebanese culture, are you saying she should apologize for that? I imagine her aunts were afraid of her being teased on the playground for being hairy, because children can be cruel.

+erotic bandaid I'm guessing you are an adult? I'm not worried about other adults. I'm worried about teens who see this lifestyle and think that they must emulate it to be happy, healthy and successful. Which they don't have to do. And in point of fact, being a fully raw vegan is not the healthiest kind of veganism either. Also, she was not legally able to make her own choices when her matriarchs started to do this to her. I hope you and the others are this passionate about things that actually matter, like, I don't know, Syria or the enormous garbage patch in the ocean XOXO

Thank you Kristina for sharing this info! I've never heard of it before and my daughter has EXTREMELY sensitive skin...we'll be trying this! I wonder if you could store in the refrigerator and use it as needed? Or perhaps if it would solidify a little too much maybe you can put it in an ice cube tray in the fridge and just pop one out and microwave it slightly when you need it!

I love sugaring! You can use it anywhere where you want to get rid of unwanted hair (upper lip as well). However, if your complexion is darker, you DO NOT want a dark sugar, you want it to be lighter because the darker the sugar the hotter it will be and by the time it cools, it will not work. Darker skin needs a lighter sugar, so don't cook it as long and take it off the stove when it's light brown (like a new, shiny, penny) and pour it into a Mason jar. If you like using the wax/muslin strips instead of using a sugar/wax ball, then use less sugar: Use this recipe when using wax/muslin strips: 1 Cup of Sugar 1/4 Cup of Lemon 1/4 Cup of Water Bring to a boil and stir until it begins to turn light brown. Once it's a walnut brown color, take off the stove and place into a Mason jar so it can cool. If the sugar runs off the knife or wax stick too fast, it's too hot. Make sure your skin is clean and free of oil or residue and place the sugar on nice and smooth. Place the muslin strip over it and rub it on top of the sugar and then pull off really quick. This works great for me and I've been doing it for years. :)

Why are you embarassed about body hair? If you're so into healthy lifestyle, I would expect you to know better. Hair grows on the body for a reason.

+Alyssa l Agreed. I didn't say she should not shave, I pointed out she says she's embarassed to show her hairy armpit. I don't think there is anything embarassing about it. Everyone grows hair on their body, it's natural.

I think removing the hair from certain parts of the body is a very good way to feel comfortable, not just because of the focus of "beauty" but living in a place with high temperatures such as where I live, removing the hair from the armpits makes your feel fresh and not uncomfortable, feeling them hairs sticky on your skin. I remove the hair on my legs less than my armpits, but that's about it. But frankly last month I wanted to try removing the hair on the V area, and it felt better there! Less sticky and sweaty. I felt very comfortable with my cotton panties, like it aired better, if ya' know what am sayin' LOL ...Anyway +FullyRawKristina don't listen to those haters that don't understand your reasons for choosing as a grown up to keep removing your hair, who cares if it's for beauty or just feeling comfortable, it's been your choice for a very long time. I bet you must feel the comfort of removing them on that hot climate of Texas. Stay strong beautiful!

here in India some moms and grand moms make it a bit differently. they knead a tight dough of chickpea flour with very little water and coconut oil and roll it over the entire body of "babies" with light pressure who are just over 6 months old. not only does it remove all the hair but also ends up being a good massage for the baby. its believed that body hair at that age is very thin and can come of pretty much painlessly. special care is taken for female babies who by birth have more facial hair. this is done almost till the baby is 2-3 years old and after that its just ever necessary to remove any body hair as there is hardly any growth.

I've tried shaving, sugaring, soft wax, and hard wax on my arm pits and in my experience, hard wax works the best. When I had my arm pits sugared my skin was sore, red and bruised for days afterwards and it didn't even get all of the hair, a lot had to be tweezed afterwards. It was also quite painful. I didn't have any of these problems with hard wax.

Who every put that wax on you, you should go back and beat her ass cos your not suppose to look like/feel like that afterwards. She probably double dips and gave you a little infection.

For all your talk about self-love and acceptance and confidence, the way you talk about hair and your hairy armpit is weird. It just threw me off I was not expecting that

Ik same, I was expecting her to talk about how you shouldn't feel pressured to shave and how it's completely natural to have body hair, it's a little weird

+Emma Ferguson Yeah! Same here. I was taken quite off guard. I shave, but I would never say having hair was less sexy or stigmatize it by saying hairless is sexier. :(

thanks for not calling it a "treatment". I hate how the beauty industry tells people they need treatments to get rid of the hair. you're not sick!!! it's just hair.
