Do it yourself Borax Ant Killer - how to make Ant Poison and Ant Bait Stations

In this video I will show you how to make do it yourself Ant Killer using Borax. How to make ant poison using sugar, water and Borax. I also show you how to make ant bait stations so that the poison is contained only allowing the ants to enter. This video will show you how to get rid of ants!
With the warmer weather can bring ants which can be a problem especially if they get into the house. Borax is a product commonly used for household cleaning, but is toxic to ants, once ingested it can disrupt the ants digestive system causing death. This is a slow death therefore allows the worker ants to carry the ant poison back to the nest/colony where the other ants ingest the poison and die.
How to make ant killer,
Ingredients per bait station
9 heaped teaspoon Sugar
1 heaped teaspoon Borax
50 ml warm water
Mix ingredients together until borax and sugar are mixed together

If you cut that 9 to 1 mix down to 4 or 5 to 1 you will get rid of them in half the time or less.

Sounds good, let me know how you go with your ant poisons. In NZ you can buy the same brand Borax product seen in the video at Mitre10. 👍🙂

I did a test with 50-50 & 2 to 1 up to 10 to 1 mix, they ate it all, even the 50-50 mix they ate & carried it back, if I had to say what mi worked best & only by a little, a mixture of 4 or 5 to 1 of sugar to borax with half that amount in water, example 4 tsp sugar 1 tsp borax then 2 1/2 tsp water mix well & they go crazy over it, I added a few drops of honey to another mix & they went after it very well also. I did find anything over 5 to 1 mix was too much sugar that was not needed & a waste of sugar, with 24 to 48 hours, a 4 or 5 to mix allows them time to carry it back to the colony & Kills them all in that time.

Thanks for that nice test results there. I have used the 9 to 1 for many years now and seems to work fine, but I seem to have ants hanging around the bee hives as its warming up here (spring time) so will give the 4 or 5 of sugar to 1 teaspoon of borax a go in that area as they are quite pesky. @@MannixGarage Yes, everything is in order with us, but the mirage runs, figured out a little with the carburetor, otherwise it was a big expense, now he feels very good))
