Hi Sachiaki I have always loved Asian food, especially Japanese, Chinese and Korean. I'm caucasian but my girlfriend is Chinese. I first came across natto in the documentary Miso Hungry- and when I watched it I said I would never try natto as it looked disgusting. A year later I started dating my Chinese girlfriend and she bought one of those natto packs at the Asian grocery store and I tried some and I LOVE IT! It is so convenient that it comes in those packets with the mustard and sauce, too. I have natto with different types of rice or millet, with ginger, soya sauce, and wasabi paste. I don't think it smells bad at all!! I hope people keep an open mind and try this amazing superfood. I will also be buying your books as soon as possible. Thanks for all the great work! Love your videos. Keep them coming! Konrad from Canada (Toronto). :)

you have to also factor in Americans that eat plain unprocessed meat vs processed meat, most Americans eat the processed meat which is unhealthy. A good resource for nutritional information on traditional diets is the Weston A Price Foundation. The book Nutrition and physical degeneration by (Weston A price) is essential reading, also Nourishing Traditions by {Sally Fallon Morell.) Also currently Hong Kong followed by Macao have the highest life expectancy today, 3rd country is Japan, ironically Hong Kong, they eat the most meat per person in the world. balance diet end of the day, good variety in foods and enjoyment is a must. Great channel btw, I made Natto using native silver fern leaf that grow in New Zeraland, I used the wild bacteria on the leaf, very special and delicious.

Hi Sachiaki, You answered my question perfectly when you retold your own experience that, as a child, it wasn’t normal to eat meat every day. Thank you for going into depth to make sure you answered my vague question. I really appreciate it.

It would be interesting to go back further in time to the late 1700s before a lot of European traders entered the Pacific basin to find out what the diets were really like for cultures in Japan. I eat the carnivore diet, and I am Japanese Okinawan and Hawaiian. So I eat lots of items from the Pacific Ocean for my meats. Consumption of pork in the Pacific basin cultures was much higher than beef. Also fermented vegetables were not sweetened with sugar. The use of wheat and refine flour were hardly used back in that time. Fermentation of soy products were far more prevalent back then. It is my opinion that the introduction of refine wheat products, sugar and highly processed food items to enable them to be transported by ships over great of time, started to decrease the health of all cultures in the Pacific basin. Most people don't even consider Seaweed as a vegetable. And western people don't even understand that they are more variations to seaweed, and they are edible vegetations on the land. From my point of view, the key to living a long and healthy life is to go back 400 years and take a look at Japanese food technology back then as I believe it was far more advanced for the outcome of longevity.

Interesting, I always consider fish as meat when I eat. Curious to see a distinction elsewhere

The whole vegan vs carnivore is annoying. Thanks sensei. Thats also my experience. We didnt eat much meat just a small amount sometimes. Mostly vegetables, whole grains, fish. Living in harmony with nature.
