Hi Haru, just found you today. When you mentioned "give up", it piqued my interest. Just to share with you, in Islam, which is the religion with the most followers in Malaysia, we have this concept called "redha" (one way of pronouncing is how you say the english word "radar"). Instead of meaning "to give up" it means "I accept". So instead of losing the will to fight, you accept something instead, and go with the flow. There's a lot of meaning and usage there, but the concept is, rather than fight everything, just accept that most things as a test from God, and do the best that you could. Rather than being defeatist, it is more about "well, can't change things, so how do I make the best of the situation?" Phew. That was a lot to type on the phone 😅 enjoy yourself in Malaysia

Because of very hot weather and sometimes can get very wet in rainy season, we prefer a comfortable life with simple clothes, simple fashion and just go along. Here we dont have seasonal clothes or fashion. Just wear what u like. I find foreigner are confused why malaysian love to wear jersey tshirt even in shopping mall and also love slipper. Because jersey is comfortable and the material can reduce body heat as well. And for slipper is easy to wear, the feet can get dry fast.

Normally local coffee or tea from Hainam coffee shop taste better. Maybe I think is because they use very hot boiling water If you wish to try a real local coffee with nice aroma at home you can buy the prepack coffee powder in sachet in most supermarket The brand name is "Aik Cheong"
