@@happierabroad I have only joined OBOD so I can not speak of the other ones. The value I have found with OBOD so far is that it's a course designed to teach you lessons per week every week for 3 years if you do all three courses. That is way way more material then you will get out of books. It all works together and compliment each other and you get a tutor as well. I think it's no different then college, you can buy a book on programming (or any subject) or you can attend a curriculum at a college to learn it, kinda up to the individual.

Very cool, I have debated trying to sign up for that one. Wasn't sure yet though, there is so much out there to study.

Very cool, do you have any of the names of the schools? I've heard of ones in person as well and honestly in person might be the best route. However the benefit of online is reaching a larger group of potential students.

There’s Academie Gnostique. There about the best for just all around occult. But here it’s kind of like an apprenticeship program you get into to learn from a master. Most interchange and intermix with conjure. And you’ll have a practice that ranges from hoodoo/voodoo, Norse, Druid, gardenarian, etc. just a gumbo of different beliefs and elements. Also you learn real quick down here to watch your back, Jack.

A couple other people I know online that actually teach have the mindset of if their meant to find it, they will.

I actually do have a few videos on this topic, look for my video about harry potter and real magic and the video don't miss represent magic. They only things I've personally seen moved with the mind alone are candle flames and telekinetic enhancer tools. I've never seen anyone move a physical object like a matchstick. So as far as I can tell it's not possible.

though they may exist, I am not aware of them. I did attend four winds trade academy but its not a boarding school. It was an in person school though. A few book shops down the street from me use to do classes, I taught a few as well. before they closed.

Grey school of wizardry is an actual witchcraft school that you can go to in person.

As always the books are better :) so I heard. I really liked Quentin Coldwater. I might consider doing that though it's been a while since I've watched and never finished cause I got mad when Quentin...hmmm did different stuff then the books? I think that is good for not spoiling :D

If you want a taste of OBOD's teachings, without spending too much, get a copy of "Druid Mysteries for the 21st Century," which is a re-release of one of Carr-Gomm's earlier introductory books.

The book, imho, is the least-costly option for a basic look at the teachings, though books by Emma Restall Orr and Philip Shallcrass are a good look at the British Druid Order's teachings (a "rival" to OBOD).

no, none of these schools reach out to you. You just go to their website and join. There is no acceptance application you simply sign up.

This is actually based upon real life too though. Those who do not practice magic in any form are referred to as cowen, at least among modern day witches. If you have a wand and drop it, they will just think you dropped a stick. No one is going to care. however if you publicly announce you practice magic, you'll get all sorts of responses from laughs, to trolling responses, or accusations of practicing evil stuff.

one of the advantages to some of the schools. For example OBOD, they send you material. it's a solitary study program. You have a tutor you can reach out too, you have access to a forum if you like and you can look for local seed groups or groves. However none of that is required until you want to go up to the next grade. then you contact your tutor for a test of sorts, more an evaluation of if you learned the basics of your grade. I don't know about the other three, I have not attended them.

Essentially when working with magic you are working with manifestation of your will through subtle vibrations. There is a saying "yesterday's magic is today's science". many of the things you learn is about how to work with the world and natural flow of life. In some cases its straight science and philosophy. In others its about belief.

Also being a fan of the novels, Muggles is only the word they use in Europe. The back story she wrote about America called them no-maj.

some of them yes. For example the OBOD one you have option of audio or paper. so you get a packet in the mail once per month. I've not attend the others though so I'm not sure how they work.

honestly we don't know much about the ancient druids. However I am under the impression they did. Did it work? who knows, but I dont know of any magic that is all powerful and full proof. who is to say counter magics where not done? who is to say it didn't work? As I understand it the druids merged with the christians much of what the christians do today is based on druid lore. Everything from sundays to wearing robes and having staffs. Even the christians holy days are based upon the druid seaonsal festivals.

@@BlazeLeeDragon I agree. Magic is not all powerful and has its limits. In the Star Wars prequels, the Jedi were powerful too but could not stop the Empire from taking over. Especially since the Empire had dark sith lords working for it too. Probably the Druid magick did work but if the invading force is overwhelming then there's not much that can be done. The gods are probably limited in how much they can intervene.

Not in the least. Magic is closer to science then how it is written in fantasy. Of course there is spiritual side of magic but that is not much different then most other religion or spiritualities. The closest you will find to Hogwarts is Grey's School of Wizardry. I'm sure there are others similar to this but you have to understand what magic is. I made a follow up video to this entitled "Harry Potter and REAL MAGIC?" go check that out. I did that as a follow to this video because of some of the comments.

Some have buildings, I use to go in person to a place called "the Four Winds Trade Academy". I'm sure there are some local shops that might do workshops too and some of these places might have physical locations or groups. For example OBOD will have local groves and seed groups around the world. Its kinda of hit and miss, but seeing as how many are local and don't board people you have to search your area to find ones.

One might argue there is real magic and then there is fantasy/fiction magic. What is done in movies, books, games and tv shows is fiction. Much like when folks display anything in these platforms they over dramatize them and make them seem to be a on larger scale then reality.

@@GodLegendYTsGaming not really a best book, one I recommend you can find on my videos history "A Grimoire of Shadows" by Ed Fitch is good. But there are plenty and this is all opinion based. All of these are online ones, only school I know of that is in person is four winds trade academy. I haven't been there in years though. I'm sure there are others but you'd have to look around. Also I'm sure the Cabot one you can attend in person but would have to reach out about that.

yes wands are real, they don't cast spells. The wielder casts the spell. Wands work like a focusing tool, a pointer so to speak to direct your intent. The material of the wand can aid with the intent. No different then when you see folks of other religions wave their hand over stuff while they recite passages from their books or burn incense. It's just a focusing mechanism for spirituality.

If you watched the video before commenting you'd realize the schools I mention are all online schools...

the side of your brain telling you magic is not real maybe due to not understanding what magic is. Magic is very real, unfortunately its not like magic of fantasy though. the magic you will learn at these schools is not like the magic presented in movies and games.

All modern sciences are magic, art and creative self expression are all magic. There is also the spiritual and psychology side to magic as well. i've heard in most christian mythology they try to claim everything "non-christian" as coming from "the devil" . I heard a priest once say "unless you are doing "so and so" in the name of god it's the devil's work". so from that aspect it may be considered to be bad. However most who practice will call that rubbish, as "the devil" and what not is not even recognized as being real. Most magical practices (though not all) have nothing to do with any sort of demon, devil, satan etc or even acknowledging that one exists. some paths are even open to being christian in their workings. Take OBOD for example, it's a spirituality and not a religion and there are christian Druids as well as polytheistic and even atheist Druids.

As far as I know no. Like many things in movies and books real world things inspire but are blown out of proportion. You can use wands to direct and focus energy. However there is a natural order to this world. The effects done in those moves are not possible. However I believe some reflect some types of real magic.

since these are online schools there is no place to go, though Cabot's might be in person. I get the feeling you didn't watch the video before commenting...

I'm sure you could learn a lot of it from books but in the case of OBOD you get forums, a tutor and it's all organized together from their 300 years of research. I have not applied to the other 3 that are still around so I can't speak of them. OBOD is not bad its no different then paying a monthly fee for martial arts class and it's much cheaper then collage. ADF is very cheap, not sure on the other two.

Knowledge costs money, if you go to college and stop paying your tuition you'll get kicked out. You are not gonna keep access to the college. I've never not paid access to OBOD but after getting through the Bardic grade I maintained access to their forums and tutor.

depends who you talk to. Crowley introduced the K to differentiate between performance magic and Arcane/Occult magic. He also had mathematical reasons to use a word spelled with 6 characters rather then 5. I've personally never been a huge fan so I just end up spelling it as "magic".

Though I can understand that line of thinking, nothing is truly free. Even if you look to spirituality and modern church groups they receive donations from their followers. It might be a pay what you what but it still costs. The problem with schools like these is it costs time and effort as well as materials. Then there are fees for the site which are not free as well. So if they made it free for everyone, then the would be paying money to give things out for free. Personally I don't see that as right or fair. I also think folks value stuff more they have to pay for because psychologically folks want to "get their money's worth".
