Here is a super simple method I use to break world records for Pull Ups and to do more reps!
Create very simple circuits that focus on the 3 primary muscle groups involved in doing Pull Ups.

April 2021 was the very first time I started doing pull-ups. I took a metal bar, a few straps and wrapped them around the RSJ beam in my garage. On Day 1, I couldn't even do one pull-up. I was 48 years old when first started doing pull-ups and was reasonably fit. I started doing reverse pull-ups for the first fews weeks. Only then, I was able to do 1 pull-up. By the end of Summer, I was able to 5-6. Then Autumn came, and I didn't do any. I restarted back in January 2022 and I struggled doing 1-2 pull-ups. I decided to build back up gradually and did 1 pull-up for the whole of January. Then for the whole of February I did 2 pull-ups. The goal was by the end of 2022, I would be able to do 12 pull-ups. By August, I reached 8 pull-ups and was struggling to do anymore by September. I decided to put extra weight in a backpack and use that for a few weeks to see if the extra weight helped. It did help and was managed to do 9 pull-ups. Then I suffered back and neck pain (old injury), so didn't do any pull-ups for a while. Now Mid October, I have managed to get back to 7 pull-ups

Thanks brother. Gotta use the first video to get me to this point so I can finally do one again. Never thought VA meds would take that much away from me. So just trying to row myself right now on a lower bar like you said before.

Hi Michael, love this type of videos, i have a question. If i do this workout for example twice a week, would you suggest to alternate between fatiguing lats in one workout and biceps in the other? And does it make sense to fix the amount of sets and try to progressive overload the weight/number of reps, from week to week? Thanks for the content and cheers from south Italy, hope you read this

Great Video Devil Dog! I appreciate you. It would have been great to share this info with my Marines back in the day. We just got them on the bar and worked 80% of their max several times a week. Marines waiting until the last minute? Never! 🤭

Great videos - very straight forward! I never thought of pre-exhausting one of the working muscle groups! Makes sense. I'm 50 and can't do as many as I used to. On a good day I can do 5. However, I add negatives and also after I complete pull-ups on my own, I use a band to squeeze out a few more. So I extend the set to probably 10-12 reps with negatives and bands. With regard to negatives, I hold the mid-range of the rep, is this ok? My primary purpose for pull-ups is back development and conditioning. I really don't care how many reps I do, however, I do care to feel the back work. My arms are strong, but back is weaker. So I strive to connect to the Back. I try to squeeze and hold at the top and feel the back stretch throughout the movement. Any suggestions here would be appreciated! Thanks.

Not sure if I missed you saying it or not. 1, How many sets of these? 2. How much rest between sets. 3. Do you complete several sets working the bicep and then start over again working the back?
@MichaelEckert
@MichaelEckert 2 жыл бұрын
I left it open IOT let people come up with their own combinations but I usually do 4 sets at 20 reps and 75% pull up max with about 2-3 min of rest in between sets. I personally just do 1 muscle group fatigue and then do another 1-3 days later depending on how I feel.

So should we pick a weight that we fail at around 20 reps?
@MichaelEckert
@MichaelEckert 2 жыл бұрын
You don’t necessarily need to fail. 20 reps at a medium weight will stimulate the muscles enough during 4 sets.
