People can spend their money however they like. That said, the homes are as Kenny mentioned, a trophy. Some guys have trophy houses, some have trophy wives some have both. I can't imagine why anyone needs to live in and maintain such a large house. Many of the larger house are very hard to sell. Its not that no one has the money to buy them its more about if they have that kind of cash to spend on a house they will build one to their specifications rather than buy someone else's dream home. Ask Michael Jordan. His dream home has been on the market for at least 10 years. It started out at 29M and is currently still for sale at $14M. Imagine what it has cost him to maintain this place for 10 years....Expensive white elephant.

Funny Kenny would say plus the basement. Im not sure but I think house square footage is termed in “ living space “ . My hours is about 1200 sq ft. That’s main floor which is kitchen , dining and living rooms. Then 3 bedrooms and master bath upstairs. I have a back split so there is a den or family room level and basement below that. My den is nearly 600 square ft. Basement size matches main floor. As for what people use the money they earn , your right on , it’s up to them. Larger homes and property not necessarily being a show off of wealth but as you say , a” trophy” of what they worked so hard at.

A very hard working truck driving career has had me in an 1800 sq ft home built in 1960 in southern CA since 1992. It's been added onto a couple times and numerous remodels, yet it still needs more. I would imagine a mansion, planned correctly, makes for some nice tax write offs. Maybe that's part of why some of them buy "them big homes".

Like you Kenny i watch the F1 and you guys travel a lot in a RV race to race. Also go to the factory and do PR Stuff. So unless you have a wife and children you don't need a big home. Rock stars and actors are the same big mansion and rarely use them. I would go for a gated community with good security to protect my stuff when i am on the road.

It's 2 story, 600 sqft bottom 600 sqft top. 2 big rooms with a bathroom in each. No walls for bathroom in the bedroom. It's just us.

I saved for 20 years. Got married, had three kids, adopted two more. Continued to save, but we were all piled up in a 4 bedroom 1600 sqft home. We built our house in 2020. 7100 sqft for $900K. It just appraised for $1.4M (in rural Alabama, thats quite a lot). Sure, I have a good salary - but I look at it as an investment. Once the kids are gone this place is my retirement plan LOL. Will sell it and move to a modest home on the river. It is a challenge to keep it clean because everything is so big, but we love it. It is just a relief to have everyone in their own room and plenty of space for all the wife's junk LOL. I was shocked that KFB listed his place, but it seems like he is being financially responsible.

If I had that kind of money I don't know what I would do. A mansion just seems overwhelming. Like owning a commercial building. I'm an HVAC service tech and go into some million dollar homes that have 4 to 7 systems for HVAC for the house. Something is always breaking. Shit would drive me nuts. I couldn't do it lol. The light bulb thing alone would drive me nuts😂😂😂. There are 3 we do ma on that are probably 12,000 to 15,000 sq feet. One guy is a doctor that also owns a bunch of pharmacies. He has a basement that is set up all mid evil with big TV and pool table. It's like a dungeon. It's wild. I don't know how they handle dealing with all the people that come to there house to fix this or that and do all the yard stuff.

When I was out there they pump that sand way out there in the ocean and they have a grader it get pump to and they Groom the beach it kinda way they have I grooming truck that picks all the trash up and then they have that machine put a new beach on it

There is a "nascar" mansion on the lake we ride. We met the pit crew guy that owns it. Says he uses about a regular sized housed worth of space in his mansion. Sounds like a big huge waste to me. But to each their own
