Here in Barbados when a person wants to cross via a zebra crossing, it is advised that the person extend their hand while at the zebra crossing to let the driver know that the person wants to cross to the other side of the road/street.

This might have been a good opportunity to educate our public on the proper use of zebra crossings and traffic lights, a short clip of the right way of doing it from other cities in advanced countries should have been included in this report, so everyone can learn how it's done.
