After purchasing this bivvy I am disappointed in the performance and quality from a well known company.
Point I forgot to include:
Stitching fading and coming away around the door area and around the seams.
Pictures and emails have been sent to Ridgemonkey and has been brushed aside as nothing more than a normal occurrence for their products.
Another friend in the bivvy next to me was bone dry throughout the trip with no issues, however bivvy was from another company.

Hi mate just saw this, I have used mine out in France once, it did have a lot of condensation in mine as I recall, I thought because it rained cats and dogs in the night it was leaking, but no it was condensation. But I didn’t get dripping like yours, but run down the sides, quite a lot if I remember right. Didn’t think nothing of it, until I see this, I’ve not been out since, will let you know what happens next time, probably April before I get time. Sorry to hear it ruined your trip mate.

Sorry Dave pressed send by mistake on the 1st occasion on the sat night it was 2 or 3 degrees above freezing but what I call persistent rain started about 10 but we was outside under the canopy having a bit of a social with the other lads on the lake as they only arrived on the sat and then we turned it in about 11.30 and then I noticed the seams were wet in place and water was beading down Considering I was outside but early hours it was teaming in from all directions It got light about 6.30 so I ventured outside thinking fly sheet gas come undone but no all in place and you could see it dripping tho that on to the bivvy itself then dripping though 2nd occasion it was minus 1 very damp in the air and still came teaming tho. If I had 1 I would deffo put it up in the garden and put the hose over it for a hour and see what you find, we are on the assumption that my 1 missed the waterproofing stage but yet to have that confirmed Regards steve

Offing to AD Ridgemonkey were still refusing to accept it as a warranty claim, then in the next breath they want to use it as a promo shoot, just didn’t ring right with me nor, when I told my solicitors who’s acting for me the same, they thought, it was very strange as well. Ridgemonkey have been appalling with there lack of response, they have not yet once apologised, or even admitted there is a problem, they say it was due to atmospheric pressure, what a load of ball that is, my mate was 6 yards away from me and was as dry as a bone, I’m just hoping the more people that view it, the more people will keep away from them, it seems a lot of people are having issues across the board with there stuff h as fled ddd as long off stitching coming apart, Glad yours is waterproof and tight lines joey all the best

Is it leaking or condensation? If it's condensation it can be caused just by breathing without proper ventilation, or by boiling a kettle, the same. Most of not all bivvies will suffer from some degree of condensation without proper ventilation. Sitting in a zipped up bivvy it won't take long for the drips to start. If it's leaking, well that's manufacturers error.

Hi Mick, you thought the same as me fella, I searched up and down the internet looking for a good size bivvy and to be fair all the reviews, that I looked at were brilliant, hence why I spent that sort of money m, on what I thought was a quality brand like Ridgemonkey, I’ve got lights from them power packs bivvy table cooking stuff etc etc and never had a issue with 1 item, you think your buying right with a brand name like them. The bivvy itself went up a dream couldn’t fault it, it was up in under 3 mins, bearing in mind I had watched every video available, so I had a good head start. The 1st night was fine we were, all knackered so the 3B’s bivvy beer bed, got up in the morning no issues whatsoever, but that day we was due rain & a bit of wind so I put the guy ropes on made sure it was all pegged down 100% and around 9pm as expected the rain started, so I retreated to the bivvy, to my surprise after 10/15 mins the water was coming down the walls both ends, then after another 20 or so mins it was coming thro the roof, only small amounts but enough, anyway rain stopped around midnight so I shut up the front and jumped in the sack, unfortunately it went very down hill from there, I was woken in the early hours,by water dripping on my face when I looked up my bed was soaked along the line of the roof bar, and as you can hear in the video, the noise of the water hitting the floor, the whole inner was as you can see in the video saturated , and water coming in everywhere, Ridgemonkey have been shameful how they have responded saying condensation, I’ve been fishing for over 40 plus years never in my life had condensation like this, and funny how it only happened in the rain . I wouldn’t touch 1 with a barge poll Mick, I’ve not sent all the correspondence over to trading standards with the video and all the other pictures I took, peed off with Ridgemonkey ain’t the word, won’t be buying anything with there name on it again Angling direct have sort of taken there side at the moment, but at the end of the day I purchased it from them, but I tried to work with both parties, but they don’t seem interested in resolving the problem, so let’s see what trading stands think of it along with the cash paying public All the best Mick for June

I personally don't think yours missed the waterproof stage I think its more of a problem with the material they've used. I have the XF1 and always have the door fully open and its the worst bivvy I've owned for condensation. My first one went back and was replaced by RM who to be fair were OK with me but still it had leaking problems and a couple of other issues. since I've had my replacement I've put it through some pretty crap conditions and yes it leaks slighly at the seems so I will treat these. So far its been down to 4C and the condensation builds up on the sides and top at the front (even with the door open) and then runs down the inside, its a livable problem but I wouldn't trust it with the door shut. Overall though I am happy with this bivvy but they definitely could have got away with a lighter material which would breathe a bit more. I also should mention that the flysheet is always on and if the inside poles arre not set properly then the material can rub together causing leaks through the flysheet onto the main roof of the bivvy. I now tension the top first before the uprights and it makes the roof skin tighter. I have about 6 inches air gap from the flysheet poles. You shouldn't have to faff around like this but it does help.

Hi thanks for your information, it all helps just seems weird to me some people say they have had no issues and some say they have, I’ve done a flood test on mine set it up in the garden in June this year clear day, set a stake up with a hose on medium spray, after 7 mins it was leaking at the seams, so don’t hold up much hope of it surviving a night of rain on the side of a lake, as far as the material gos, Ridgemonkey say it’s tge best on the market, but I suppose they like to think so when the price tag of a £1000,is attached to it, but I’ve been out to France probably 15 plus times and normally with in a month or so the same time of the year, and I’ve had no issues in the past with previous bivvy’s, my mate who I went with this year had no issues and we were 15 feet away from each other, and the weather was nothing more than I had experienced on previous visits to the same venue, the lake owner Dave does full setups for people that fly over, he said himself he had never seen anything like it, he did offer to lend me a bivvy for the rest of the week, but no rain was forecast until the Friday evening, hence why we packed up a day early, couldn’t face another night with everything getting soaked again. 1 question that springs to mind you say yours was replaced ?? Who actioned that, as Ridgemonkey just shut there doors and said adverse weather, and perfectly normal for it to happen , let’s hope when it does eventually get to court the judge sees it different Tight lines regards steve

@@stevekirkby9998 yes it was replaced by the reseller after RM authorised it (took 3 months). I dealt mainly with RM. I agree with RM about the material being the best but in my view thats also a problem for condensation as its too thick and does condensate far too easily. As for waterproofing mine is fine having had a sesssion where it continually rained (and in some parts very heavy) for about 6 hours and only the seams leaked slightly and again a livable problem. I think under the right conditions I could get mine to be as bad as your video but I'd rather not 😁 good luck with it.

Last October/November 3 weeks in the NL with a lot of rain and last week also in the NL with much rain. All very well accept the usual condensation. But this condensation I had in my old tempest with a winterskin also. It often depends on the temperature outside. Last week it was nearly 0 degrees in the night and 7 in the morning... the inside skin was a bit wet of condensation. And wind up to 75 km/h ... no problem with this bivvy!

@Steve Kirkby not really Steve, mine was fine in the rain no issue, just the cold weather. I fished France in February and it got down to minus 8° the one night I didn't use the heater it was like sleeping inside an igloo. Everything froze.

Wow glad we see this video myself and my son was looking at these to purchase two for our France trips and our friend was also interested seeing this video think we will be looking at Nash or tracker bivvys. Have also heard about the stitching on these bivvys but thought it was a one off but apparently not best to avoid at all costs

Hi thanks for watching the video, I thought the same as you buying a quality brand, but I would not give it the time of day I know of 3 people that have had issues with the stitching ,1 fella that contacted me said he’s had 2 both with the same problem, I would have been dryer and more comfortable m, with a £20 tent from Asda at least it would have been dry, I’m looking forward to seeing there stand st the carp show, this weekend, I will be there putting a few more people off wasting there money on them Tight lines good luck in France regards steve

Mate that is a piece of shite. Just like the Nash Viper I bought that was made from a slippery eel material. I used to have to carry a towel to dry the Inside. Thanks for helping others make the decision to steer clear of such rubbish.

Thanks for the info I’m defo keeping away from ridge monkey if this happens. You should take them to small claims court, it not fit for purpose, it would only cost you £60 online to start

Hi David I have done mate I went to trading standards and they advised me to do just that, angling direct called last week to say there were going to take it back, and they will deal with Ridgemonkey because they are still saying it’s due to the atmospheric pressure, and that all materials react differently Funny how my mate was as dry as a bone , in those so called non standard atmospheric pressures, I’m going to per-sue them to claim the cost of my trip back as it was completely ruined down to them Cheers for watching Dave, and nearly a 1000 views now so let’s hope it stops a few people putting up with the same nightmare that I had Tight lines fella

Hi Daniel save your money mate I found out on sat at the carp show, they have issues with them according to Ridgemonkey staff there is none arriving in stock until Jan feb next year, when my mate asked why, he just said there were issues. But dan look elsewhere for something that’s a least waterproof. Good luck in France mate hope you have a more enjoyable trip than me, Couldn’t wait to get home

@@dant3mp Yeah it did put a downer on it, after waiting all that time for us to be able to get over to France, spend all that money on the lake and travelling costs, only to get soaking wet, and to return 2 days early as I couldn’t face 2 more nights there , as rain was on the cards so I cut my losses and jumped ship early, but on a positive note I had communication yesterday, after I think the trading standards got involved, and they are trying to resolve the problem now, bit late but hey ho, as they say better late than never, you wait till they get the letter from my solicitor, that should rattle them a bit laugh out loud Tight lines Dan good luck in France, and bit more advise fill up over here if your driving, I was paying €2.54 over there on the toll road fuel stations not sure if it’s settled down there now but I spent over £400 in fuel alone, but we was a long way down 8 hours from Calais so a fair old slap in the face when your getting wet laugh out loud

Single skin bivvy with no ventilation you’ll always get condensation.
@stevekirkby9998
@stevekirkby9998 Жыл бұрын
Hi thanks for your comment It’s not ifact single skin it’s 2 layers over the entire top of the bivvy, it has a sheets that zips on , just behind the peak section and there is a rail that holds the sheet of the main roof section to form a air gap, I can rember back 40 plus years ago old school brolly camp getting a bit of condensation, but this was a different level, it’s clearly missed it’s waterproofing stage

Hi Barry the handles on the carry bag are very suspect, the stitching is coming away after 1st time of carrying the bivvy from the van to the bank,seems like they are cutting corners on manufacturing standards, obviously the big boys, have them under wraps but the small independents can choose not to sell there stuff, funny you should mention, but quite a lot of people have commented about the quality of there stitching on all sorts of items clothing, luggage, etc etc I know of 2 people that have returned there bivvy’s due stitching failing Anyway thanks for looking at the video getting close to 1500 views now let’s hope it hits them hard , and saves a few more people from having the same issues as me, I’m a great believer in the fact that mistakes happen, but when they do, you own them and deal with them. Ridgemonkey themselves have been unbelievable with how they have just called it normal in the conditions we were in, words fail me, my mate next door didn’t have a £1000 bivvy he had a 3 year old fox the other 2 people on the bottom lake had run of the mill bivvy’s 2 with a winter wrap 1 without, they didn’t get soaked like me. We will see what a judge thinks of the video let’s see if he classes that as normal. Tight lines fella and all the best

But the thing that is very unbelievable is the nozzle mesh port... if rain is too much thewater can enter by the ground !!!!

The fisrt tray to send us another superior cloth saying that with a new one rain cant enter from holes, now they are trying to wait time saying that there arent other new bivy to sent new one to us and give back tha fault one. The said end of december 2023 to have a new one . Incredible. Now give messages and email to a lawyer , I want money back and for sure I Will Have.
