😂 Low hanging fruit (but funny & true). The easy fix for that and immediate act upon opening *ANY* Vostok is stunningly cheap & simple three-step process: 1) remove the crumby pressed hair-puller it comes on from the factory, 2) throw away factory brac; good riddance, and 3) slap that Vostok on a NATO (or an RAF, or a Marine Nationale, or a FKN rubber tropic or waffle, or a $10 AliX brac with solid links - I have Amphibias riding on all of those, I esp like it on a retro Willard style silicone waffle) and you have yourself a great, tough, quirky daily wear/beater.

@@MTFDOOM Don't own any Citizens, but I'd put any 9f my Vostoks up against any of my Seikos for 1/4-1/10 the cost. The dials on my Vostoks are properly alligned, whaddya know?

No Jody, you got it wrong. It's not "Automtic" its "Atom-Tick" which is the highest precision time keeping since 8550. Even more precise than a Ceronometer 🙏😁

Morning Jody, from a first glance I thought that’s not a bad looking watch! And thought what is Jody on about. I then put my glasses on and wish I hadn’t. It’s definitely different to say the least but I’m sure someone out there in the watch community will love it and buy one. Good video it did make me chuckle on this damp Sunday morning over in the U.K.

He was one of the hundreds of thousands who left the country to avoid being drafted. I think the hands are actually meant to be Grand Seiko, SBGA463 and similar. Not a great facsimile, but that seems to be what they were going for. Great video!

I recognise this one. They also contacted me about reviewing one as well. I told them that I couldn't due to the name on the dial and that they should consider changing it. Their response was... "we sell other sterile dial watches, if you'd prefer that". After watching this, I'm glad I decided not to now 😆 What were they thinking?

The bezel finish made me think of a Sinn U1... overall shape and design make it look like that was one of the design elements they pulled from as well.

Lol… found another model, same brand, with direct clone bezel marks and hour indices on the dial. Still a mess of a watch, but more directly a Sinn clone than the one featured.

904L is not significantly more costly to produce, and there's a good chance Chinese brands are able to get analogous steel at low cost. It's also not harder to machine. That said, in the pocket knife world, Aliexpress brands routinely misrepresent steel, so it stands to reason that they might in this case as well.

@@Fake_account_001 I have a question, is it moral to buy or own a Vostok now? If you support Ukraine that is. I think not but would be interested in other watch enthusiasts opinions. Vostok didn't start the war, but they do make watches and clocks for the Russian military.....I mean I wouldn't have bought a German watch in WW2.

I like the way Russian and Soviet watches fit … but I'm not interested in contributing to their war. So I've been buying my Russian and Soviet watches from Polish and Ukrainian sellers.

@@karlr750 You can always go for Vostok Europe, these are made in Lithuania, which was part of USSR, but now is a member of EU and NATO. And our Lithuanian brothers also contribute a lot to help Ukraine, so this would be a nice slap in the face of Russian invaders 😁

At first watching the dial I thought: Well, this wasn't really that bad was it? Then instantly I noticed Vostok Amphibia. And after a huuge outburst of laughter, I knew this would be hilarious. And the gift kept on giving. "Automtic", LMAO! I mean, taking close inspirations (or even close to be called ripping off) from various design sources actually could work if you do it with at least some thought, and amount of taste and some own ideas and kinda somehow make it like a cool concept yadda, yadda. But this is obviously not like that lol. Great work as usual, Jody. Keep up the good work (and roast videos lol).

I purchased a Vostok watch a few years ago. I absolutely love the look of the watch but it was faulty from new. The automatic mechanism works but it does not hold any power reserve - so if you stop moving the watch stops. I would love to get it repaired or a new mechanism fitted but I don’t know anywhere in Melbourne where I can get it fixed.

Had my first experiences of Aliexpress this year and have learned to be very wary. First was a "Pt5000 " which wasnt one, unable to get any redress. Then looking for a bauhaus style watch eventually got a Carnival for £52 which is excellent but I bypassed a $99 "Nomos" version, more convincing than this Vostok.

I have a different model Vostok Amphibia and I love it. Accurate and Rugged. You cannot hear it tick unless in a very quiet room and put your ear very near it and it ticks super fast. I looked up each and put in (parenthesis) On the face is printed Амфибия (Amphibia) Автоподзабод (Automatic) 31 камень (31 stones) Сделано в России (Made in Russia) On the back is engraved very deeply Амфибия (Amphibia) Противоударный (shockproof) Автоподзабод (automatic) водонепроницаемые 200М (water proof) I think I must have a real one 🙂

So it's a Seiko Vostag SubMaster with Chinese-level English on the dial. Actually, it's not that bad looking, and the price isn't that bad either. Now if it was $500, then I would cry foul.

Sadly it's cheaper than genuine Amphibia are - at least in this part of the world. Getting genuine Vostok watches for a reasonable price is no longer easy.
