Imagine getting stung at the beach and some random dude comes up to you and goes, "Hey, I can pee on that for you" like it's some awkward way of flirting.

I got stung by a jellyfish when i was 4. I was extremly hysterical until my mom sprayed some pain reliever on it and bought me 5 candies from the gas station. And no the pain reliever was not her urine.

I briefly worked at a cafe across from the beach. A lady came in with her daughter that had been stung by a jellyfish and a bunch of the ppl were saying to pee on it and some said cold tap water. Had to bring up this very article to help convince them that both those options may not be the best.

Basically, don't pee, just use the sea I have seen a few poor souls get stung by jellyfish, and I can tell you that peeing in the wound does exactly fuck all except make the person howl with pain because you just pissed into a wound. I can also confirm from the video that dumping a water bottle in the wound can also make it worse (if you were wondering what nematocysts are, they're the stinging organs of the jellyfish, they kinda act like tiny grappling hooks that shoot a coiled barb)

I learned it back in the late 70's when I lived in Cali and I thought back then I was being messed with, I was a farm kid from Nebraska and first time seeing the ocean, I actually lived on Catalina Island so everywhere I seen the ocean lol Best year ever.

It definitely works as a placebo to me at least, ive peed on several stings (on myself) and i definitely remember it helping. More than 5 times lol
