My wife stays at home. Been married 15 years and have 4 kids. I don't feel like an ATM because it isn't my money... It's OUR money. She does the work at home, raising our kids, cleaning our home, planning and making our meals. I go out into the world to work and get the money to support all her efforts at home. Long story short, we're in a partnership. We love and respect each other's contributions. That's all.

Yeah, we’ve been together forever, have three grown children, a small business, and I have a really important role. My husband doesn’t feel like an ATM 😂. We built this life together, and we are still happily married and although the empty nest is quiet, we still are best friends. I have been a stay at home Wife and mother, and I have never been unhappy with that. My husband loves coming home, I have his coffee ready, and he can wind down until dinner. I have an awesome life. ❤

So, I work full-time, and yet the man I was with expected me to still do ALL of the domestic chores without his help. Sounds like someone I once knew as well. Then he had the audacity to complain about a meal I had cooked for dinner one night, after having come home from work while he was working from home. I told him next time, cook it yourself. After four years he moved back in with his parents, then two years later, ghosted me because he couldn't be the responsible adult I needed him to be. I don't totally disagree but most families that have a stay at home parent typically implies that the other is working an excessive amount in order to compensate for lost wages. The average person in the US doesn't make enough money in order to support themselves and a spouse and a child. So the "bread earner" spends 6 to 7 days of their week working and which not only wears them down mentally but also emotionally and takes away free time for things like "dates". The first discussion you should be having is how you will empower working class people to make more money while still having enough time to spend with their spouse. Our current economy just doesn't support the "stay at home" model anymore. So yeah, its important but just not economically feasibly for 99% of Americans.

I live in the Philippines where a stay at home mom is an honored profession and divorce is illegal. In this social and cultural milieu, things are more likely to work out. Women here are often educated but most choose to stay at home when the first child arrives. When I married, that's the way I wanted it for the sake of our children and she's happy with her life and social standing. Yes, I'm the "ATM" but I'm happy to be the provider. The cost of living here is so low that I save almost as much as I spend and I feel much more like a man than I did when I was married to a career woman. My wife is very pleasant and grateful to me. Typically, she isn't submissive; she listens politely to what I say and then she decides for herself. but I think she has a right to be her own person.

I think this is common for stay at home moms who married out of the need to settle down. If you don’t marry for genuine desire then it was for security. So it makes sense that to avoid closeness with the husband they would focus on the kids as an escape. Right now I am a housewife( wife and mother primarily) but if a woman realizes that the priority is husband and then children that fixes the issue. It’s not stay at home moms it’s stay at home moms who aren’t attracted to their husbands.

When a man is ready to get married, he marries the woman in front of him. Guys, be aware of this. Look at her character, her values (how well do they match your values?), your compatibility before making a decision to marry. Pay attention to any red flags. Someone should ask the question "Who hurt her?" 😂 Men don't grow apart. Women grow apart almost always. Why? No sense of duty, obligation, loyalty or commitments. Women want basically two things out of life and it's a constant. NEW AND MORE and feminism plays to this. ALL HUSBANDS ARE ATM'S! That's a given. Comes with the job. Yeah, there's MUCH more to this 15-second lawyer clip than what was shown. The problem, as I recall, is that the Stay-at-home-moms accounted for the largest percentage of the "careers" that were surveyed, therefore the percentage of Trad-wifes that got divorced was the same percentage as others that were surveyed. When you marry, it should be for having children, and you need to come to grips with who will be raising your children.

@Chad lmao. There are far too many MASSIVE ASSUMPTIONS in the first lines of the OC (the “strikes”). Now you didn’t write it. I asked because maybe that person saw a much longer video. However I am doubtful and I think it’s more like what you said and it’s just an assumption. The only one that sounded bitter and angry was the person who made the original comment here. Clearly a woman hurt him. I do however agree with him that it’s almost always the women who “grow apart” from their relationship. I watched it in my own house and with many men I work with.

Why is every man attacking the lawyer? She is actually giving a good example that is really important. Women are focusing on children, men on their job and growing apart. Instead of emotional meltdown and attacks in her character, let's think about it. Is growing apart good for relationship? No. What to do to build strong relationship? Intentionally grow together. What do you need to grow together? Spend quality time, being attentive to each other's needs and problems, supporting each other, comunicate atc. Its actually great advice. You just see a female and a lawyer and assume the worst.

I’m a stay at home mom, and I can see why this would happen, and why women in my chosen position would choose to leave, especially in our current culture. Being a stay at home mom makes you vulnerable, especially in a culture that tells women they’re sitting ducks or useless unless they pursue a career. If you are choosing to be a stay at home mother you have to accept the vulnerability that comes with it, AND TRUST the man who is providing for, and protecting you. I cannot tell you how many times as a young girl I was told over and over again how stupid it is to be a SAHM “what if he leaves you for his secretary!?” 🙄 I think what you should do is be VERY selective on who you marry, both men and women…these days I would advise men to be VERY careful who they marry. Don’t just give it to some random chick with a cute face. Make sure she WANTS the marriage, and the family. Because if she’s in it for the marriage, and not in it for herself you’re less likely to get divorced.

She took care of everything, so when I came home after work I could focus on doing things as a family. She made my house a home. Now, she has her Masters Degree. Way too many ignorant men set this exact scenario up. All the while, they act smug thinking how much better they are than other men because he can keep his wife at home while other "lesser" men have wives or girlfriends that also work. Yes, when they split she is going to completely ass-rape him in court with no complimentary reach around. Afterwards, I know many of those same men that are doing far less off than me, and are NOT having fun. If you do decide to put a ring on it, make sure that at a minimum she has her own job and career going, and enjoys her work Also, if you have kids, this is all the more reason to have a companion that has solid career. For the guys that I have talked to that are one income households, with wife at home, and especially with other kids at home, it really makes me feel stressed. I tell them that they are great fools and are being irressponsible. They often have responses like what are you talking about. I explain to them that if they get hit by a bus, get sick, or get laid off, then it is not just him that is in trouble, but his entire family is fucked. Not only does his wife have no job, no career, no money coming in, but because she has been out of work for so long, it will take her a very long time to build her career and make a decent living. In the broader scheme (since we are talking about broads), if you fly it, float it, or fuck it, you are way better off leasing it!

It's pretty easy to fix this by working at your marriage. Always make time for a date night 2 or 3 times a month so you can spend time alone together. A stay at home mom should always put her husband before the children, but she does have to focus on their children too. It's not the most difficult job in the world, but it is the most important job in the world. Remember, those kids grow up and leave home. Then the wife can get a job if she wants to. This lawyer is probably regretting not being able to be home with her own children and is trying to soothe her own conscience by criticizing moms who actually raise their own children.

Dude…. Your last statement hit me on another level. It’s so true we put so much time and logical thinking into taking onboard a new purchase, job, house, car or whatever. Yet all that goes out the window instantly when are junk gets activated over a woman.

This is somewhat unclear..our previous generations in family have been stay at home mom's and they kept home so well and raised awesome kids, encouraged husband's through tough times but i guess now times changed and social media and TV can spoil stay at home mom's ..may be that's the case

This made me laugh as I’m on month 2 researching the exact jeep I want to invest in so that all the modifications I want will work as a daily driven weekend warrior vehicle. 😂 ofc not every girl that touches my “peepee” gets a marriage proposal, I’ve proposed zero times but would have married at least 2 of the women I’ve dated and both those relationships ended with them cheating, even the most unreliable automobile has proven far more reliable than most women and costs me way less money too.

I'm a 40 year old woman and I feel the same. I've always been really happy being single. People need to do what makes them happy and not what society wants them to do. I've been called names left, right and centre all because I won't put myself into a convenient box to ease other peoples opinions of my choices.

@@Riosgirl98 outstanding. You're so correct. Even as a man I get looked at strangely as in how can a man be so content in his own skin and not NEED companionship. There are others out there like you and me but not many. That's okay of course but I've met others that are single that get into relationships because they feel genuine loneliness. That's not a good thing because so many end up separate and divorced because they make the wrong choice based on the fear of solitude. Anyway I wish you all happiness always in your journey of a solo life. We are a rare breed.

In this scenario, it's not got anything to do with their professions!! It's about APPRECIATION : The Man feels under-valued and like an ATM machine, so he distracts himself with Work/Golf/ Mistress. The Wife also feels under valued and so she DISTRACTS herself with her kids, which is equally unhealthy as it's "too much" doting. Once the kids are grown up and left the nest, now her distraction is Gone so she files for divorce! Fostering communication and intimacy from BOTH sides is important! My husband and I are Best friends and we make each other laugh. We also are both on the same page when it comes to values, traditions, politics and BELIEFS. This is KEY! Married 16 years so far X

Literally just don’t marry a woman in America. Doesn’t matter how good she is, the system will reward her handsomely for being bad to and for you. Just find a way to consistently make at least $2000/month post tax, then leave and don’t come back. Depending on the country, you can very easily find a woman to make your wife that is beautiful inside and out within a year. I literally met mine in less than an hour of landing. I still had my luggage in my hands.

Stay at home moms are the best ones to marry if you can keep them. Best way to do that is to keep your separate property separate, or have her sign postnups limiting how much she would get in a divorce if you don't have significant separate property. Also, check your state laws to see how likely alimony is. Sometimes it takes a long time for eligibility. If she doesn't like the arrangement, ON TO THE NEXT!

@@kennethwood6439 Don’t expect more from someone then what they can be. Don’t make many rules, it’s hard to keep them. Your partner is a extension of you, if you stole something you wouldn’t cut your hand off. So if she spends to much money, wrecks car, gets drunk, that is an extension of you. So learn to except it. Biggest thing when your dating if you don’t click separate now, don’t wish it to get better. If she likes you marry her, if she is cold or doesn’t like you do not marry or move in, it will only get worse. My wives were partners. They all lie, cheat and steal from time to time so you have to get use to it.
