I bow to you, Dazai is a very complex character and we just cant know what he is thinking, as Akutagawa said anyone who tried to understand what dazai was thinking ended in a "cognitive prision", that been said, I wonder...after reading Beast were that Dazai lived in a possible world inside the Book and said that thanks to his ability he could pry onto the other worlds (that is how he knew about Dazai and Odasaku friendship, and how he knew his worlds was the only one with a happy alive Odasaku), and I remembered what Dazai said in Dark Era about wanting to wake from "this oxidiating DREAM", and how "every time he got something worthwhile he lost it", or how he laughed in Fyodors face when Dazai dared him to try and take the book, also in the novel Odasaku, the one person to actually SEE inside Dazai said that Dazai gaze was far away, observing something ONLY HE COULD SEE, so I got the crazy theory that Dazai IS THE BOOK himself, with worlds of possibilities in his mind, remember how Chuuya is not actually human, so what if Dazai is the same?

For some reason i still dont trust dazai, even after dead apple, him being a double agent would be crazy though, but i just feel like he's the one everyone needs to fear

I feel like dazai is still kinda good and wants to help the agency, however he won’t restrict his was of doing it. He’s still gonna save people, but the ways he can do it will probably hurt a lot of people. Kinda like how he was in the mafia days.

It seems like this is telling a story. Mori dies, and Dazai has to take his place. Atsushi and the others have to cope with the fact that the Dazai they knew is dead, and the Port Mafia Boss Dazai will do his best to get them killed. Atsushi is dealing with the trauma from his mentor's betrayal and the terrible things he's seen Dazai, with a smile on his face, do. Eventually, they realize that Dazai is too smart for his own good, and he has to die. But of course, this would mean that they have to kill the rest of the Port Mafia. Atsushi makes a promise to save Yokohama, even if he has to kill his mentor. And in the end, he does. Yokohama lives in peace thanks to their sacrifices, although the Armed Detective Agency and Port Mafia no longer exist, as they wiped each other out. Now they're both just a memory of ash and dust.

Chuuya knows how cruel and annoying he can be. And Akutagawa has been faced with Dazai’s cruel, oppressive, and sadistic side the best. But, I don’t think Dazai is a bad person, at least not anymore. He may still be far from a good person, but he’s not the worst anymore.
