I think people opt for these because...some of the big brand name bike lights cost almost as much as a bike itself, which is absolutely scandalous given that, at the end of the day, it's a torch. Where is the price point where you are paying more purely for the name, and not so much the function?

Maybe for some department store bikes, yeah. But most of us spending 100 or 150 bucks on a headlight are riding bikes with a bit steeper pricepoints.

I have the NiteRider OLED 1200-boost. I love that and it's very bright indeed, similar to the NR model you're using there. But I also have the NiteRider Dual 1800-boost. Perfect for off-road riding AND much brighter and efficient than even the Oled1200. The pattern is way better for off-road. It's set up w/two side by side leds. The battery life is excellent. We were doing a night ride few days ago, pitch black, in the woods off-road non aggressive trails. That ride lasted a few hours. I had both those NR lights on my bars, but really MOST of the trip was fine with just the Dual 1800 on medium! If you like off-road riding at night, and you liked that niterider light you were using, for under $200 that Dual 1800 will clearly outpower that, and it's more designed with a pattern for off-road, it's as bright as an average car headlights on boost mode. You will NOT be disappointed. Yeah some of those cheap lights are OK for riding, they're better on paved community paths and road riding, but the outlandish claims of these lumens, not even CLOSE. Most of the higher powered no-name import ones are MAYBE up to 500-600 lumens, which is ok for the price. Those NiteRider lights ARE giving off the lumens they rate, and one of those lights I had that "claimed" 10,000 lumens or something crazy, tested side-by-side it wasn't as bright as my NiteRider Dual 1800 on medium, no way! And that's about 700 on medium I think. I just looked it up, yes 700 on medium AND it's like $160 that's awesome Actually thought I paid more. And the pattern is wider than most bike lights. It has a very soft hot-spot with a more gradual fade from the center. I like A LOT of light and that thing sees the woods clearly on the night trails we ride. It's impressive. I was going to get another 1800 OR another Oled 1200, for back-up on rides, for my other bikes, but I may try the Fenix BC30 2200 next. I like the idea of being able to carry extra batteries too. Looks like a really bright one w/2200 on boost and only like $130. ~JSV

Few months ago i bought the Serfas 1600 e-lume. i been very happy i ride with it on the 2nd mode or brightness i think is around 1,000 lume. cars will pass in front and it lights up everything can see the color of the interior of the car. it's to bright on high for riding in city. it blinds people. i have rode up in the foot hills and run it on high it's amazing. whole road or path is well lit up. it did cost me $150 same price as if i was gonna buy 2 night rider 850s. hard to find a review of this light on you tube for some reason. only a couple.

Best Bright Bike Light for Night Riding, 14000 Lumen for 34 bucks. This puppy lights the entire road up. On low it's brighter then all the ones in this video combined. Then their is bright, then full light. Full light is like the sun! I'm gonna get two for long rides on full it lasts about 4.5 hours.

I bought the weihao 10,000 lumen light. At first I thought it was a steal. I was very happy with the purchase for a week or so. What I found is that the battery doesn’t hold a charge. I charge it up and just leaving it sit on the bike after a few weeks the battery is dead. I don’t ride at night all that often so it wasn’t planned. When I got caught in the dark, the light didn’t work. I have a niterider lumina 950 that always is ready. That is on my electric scooter. That thing can sit for 2 months and still holds a charge. I’m never buying the cheap Amazon version of a quality light again

I have a surprisingly high quality $10 dollar sam's club flashlight (Bought in a 3 pack) mounted to an rubber block/ velcro flashlight holder for bikes. It holds great and provides great illumination. The light pattern is adjustable for different needs. Strobe when needed. Throw in some rechargeble AAA's with extras on hand and I'm powered for up to 5 hours. It really is a great solution and decent quality. Then Have a rechargeable Ozark trail headlamp on the helmet that cost $30. I ride at night on the road and on pitch black mostly paved trails that do wind around. I suppose if I was riding off road trails that I wasn't familiar with, I'd spend top dollar for a premium light. But for on road, I'm plenty Lit at night. Now to find the best tail light solution.

Well I just got the touhuhot I'm not sure how many lumens it is supposed to be. It cost me $52 with shipping. And when they say it's hot they mean it is hot. I don't know if I would leave it on high beam for any extended time if you're not riding. We will see I haven't used it yet but it seems really freaking bright. And I got a backlight which is good. I couldn't figure out how to turn on the flash you have to double click it really fast and man it's bright enough for me for the money. People don't see bikers but they will with this. It seems really well made I tested it charging my phone it has the same batteries as the ebike batteries and it works in an emergency if you were stranded somewhere and you needed to charge your phone it would work but I use my bike most of the time to charge things like my phone. I'd say it is pretty bright maybe they have nowhere ones now if I hold my finger up to that light I can see the veins in my finger LOL

I have the Touhuhot 6000lm one myself and it's DEFINITELY NOT 6000LM! more like 600 IF THAT. Most of these sellers are GREATLY exaggerating lumen output and it's disgusting! Bottom line is that even a single XML-2 LED emitter will Max out at 1200 lumens. The Touhuhot has 3 SMALLER LEDs, probably R5s which put out about 250lm each. So it's not going to put out anymore then 750 lumens IN THEORY. Then you always have LOSS from the reflector and lens such often cuts it down by ten to fifteen percent. So you end up with around 600lumens. Only good thing about the Touhuhot is that it can be used to recharge a cell phone as I believe it has a 4800 milliamp battery and the beam is wider which I like but it needs to be combined with another more focused light which I have on my bike to be useful. I like to do more pavement trail riding and I prefer to see much further down the trail and what's coming and this let alone does not do that but it is better for lighting up closer within 30 or 40 ft of your bike. Any light that claims to be more than 3,000 lumens is going to be full of it as all light makes a Marauder that is $3,500 actual lumens as it has five LEDs and it cost $200. I have two very bright LED lights in my car and each one of them pumps out about 3,000 lumens each and I have lit up mountain roads in pitch blackness and literally see everything even without putting the high beams on. And none of these lights are even coming close to what my car is putting out. The one light I did test from ebay that was about $30 was the rock Brothers 1,000 lumens light as it had a fantastic beam with a little bit of a spot in the middle and a rectangular beam that spread out wide and even lit up close to the bike but you could still see a good hundred to 150 ft down the road as it was actually putting out 1,000 lumens. It's seriously buyer beware with these lights especially on eBay where these people are selling a single LED flashlight and claiming it's something like half a million lumens for $15. I mean it's just absolutely ludicrous and I wish there was a way to flag these videos and report them for falsified content but there is no exact flagging option for that on eBay. Many of those same sellers are selling stuff on Amazon with the same ludicrous claims but the good thing with Amazon is at least you can buy it and test it and if it doesn't live up to the expectations you can easily send it back.

The Nitecore BR35 is the best light at a reasonable price. You can spend $800 for the real 6000-8000 lumens. Chinese claimed lumens should never be believed

Even my Coast XHP34R rated at 2075 lumens is brighter than that thing. I do have a Wurkkos TS32 which is an actual 10,000+ lumens flashlight and none if these in the reviews are even close to it. It is a Chinese brand flashlight but the build quality is pretty good.

The company there from the beginning making dedicated MTB lights is supposedly a cheap Amazon light? Even though they went to all-in-one, these are still some of the very best lights available.
