great Video! thanks. there's always a fine line in Jazz piano between enchanting everyone in the room with romantic lush piano and annoying everyone. haha.

Wow! Awesome video, love the concept of creating "clouds" of notes to pull from. I'm working hard on inversions and being able to create more fluid motions, but this video reminded me to be mindful of the openness vs. clustering of chord qualities. Less is sometimes more, especially as you approach the lower end of the keyboard. Great stuff!

Very inspiring! You also touched on a topic much talked about in classical music but seldom addressed in jazz. Producing good tone, Bravo!

Inspires me to go practice. Opening up the voicing as you move up and minimizing the number of notes as you move down, great lesson and beautifully done!

A very good video. This should help me a lot with my Jazz playing. I always thought I was the only one who gets annoyed at pianists who play hyper fast, and think they're great musicians. Playing loud and fast and playing slow and well are two completely different things! Nice video!

Why "Fail Better"? Next to my home keyboard, I used to have this post card of a mad scientist with the caption " No Matter... Try again. Fail Again... Fail Better!". It suited my quest to find a unique style of playing - while remaining true to the great composers. In my mind, I'm a beginner with 50 years experience - who played thousands of gigs that took me places (Country Clubs, Yacht Clubs, Trump's Mar Largo Estate...) I would never even dream of going. Met amazing people I would never have crossed paths if I wasn't a Piano Player. I Haven't gigged in ten years; yet I'm playing better than ever, due to KZfaq.

Having watched several "jazz and R&B chord" videos in which the instructor plays left hand stretches of Root plus the Major 3rd an octave above, it's reassuring to see in this video that that's not necessary for pleasing chord voicings.

People love free material. Most musicians don't have the character or have practiced efficiently enough for someone to just give them years of self practice to someone who wouldn't teach the same material our of settle arrogance and a need to have an advantage over peers. Pay Patreon teachers to show your true respect for music.

You will always use some sort of muscle memory when playing piano. It’s inevitable and a requirement on how to establish the memory in one thing while the other hand does another thing with full attention
