Communicating while on deployment is tough. We must learn how to communicate properly. Learn things we should and should not say. And learn how to talk if a confrontation arises. Here are some tips for deployment communication. I also added in OPSEC rules!
One thing I didn't mention is play some sort of game while writing letters or emailing to stay connected! those are fun and will having you EVEN MORE excited for when the next letter comes(:

Pro-tip: Don't say you're starting to feel distant. This will cause him to think you don't want to be with him anymore. That is my 2 cents. Take it for what it's worth.

i’m scared for my boyfriends deployment but I support him and what he does, i know it gets lonely a lot but remembering that your spouse loves you more than anything is really important and don’t let them being gone set you back

Regarding feelings: I totally needed confirmation about being able to talk about how I feel right now! I've been so fearful about opening up and thought telling him was showing him I couldn't be strong enough to endure this..so thanks for explaining that

There is a reason why OPSEC is so important. It may seem like harmless info, but little bits of info from numerous sources often will give enemy agents of foreign countries the name of the unit, the length of deployment, the strength of the unit, the destination of the unit, and the reason for deployment. Also, its considered a violation of the UCMJ to discuss anything regarding unit deployments.

These videos have been super helpful my boyfriend has just started his training for the military and it’s all really new to me and has caused a lot of emotional turmoil over the last two weeks trying to adjust, that you for sharing the part about feeling too because that’s always what I’m most worried about I’m really verbal about how I feel but I didn’t want to feel like I’m piling stuff on him. He will go on deployment next year and I want to make sure we’re ready.

you absolutely need to talk about death if your husband is going to somewhere that death is an actual concern. He should have a will and maybe a list of things you need from him I.E my wife does not want my clothes washed after I die that is in my will. Because if your significant other dies they wash all of his stuff. And my wife wants something that “smells” like me. I don’t know why but I respect that. I stumbled upon this and I get the vibe this is your first deployment?

I think maybe this was misinterpreted. And I should have been more clear. Wills, etc. definitely need to be discussed before deployment. I was mainly talking about the death of family members, other bad news. The point was to go through the red cross/the chain of command for anything relating to death that isn't about you or him. Thanks for making this clear in the comments though for others who may have this question!

I'm seeing my boyfriend next weekend to see him graduate from navy basic training. What should I expect and prepare for when he leaves for advanced training?

Sam Thomas My soldier just got done with basic this past weekend. He is in the ARMY so I am unsure if things are necessarily the same. What I do know, however, is that they'll have access to their technology. This means phonecalls, video calls, and emails. Don't expect to get one every single day. They are studying, working out, etc. in order to prepare themselves to both graduate and deploy. It'll be super tough not being able to touch them or go on date nights but the communication you get is so much better than you got at basic. Keep your chin up and make sure you ask plenty of questions to engage a conversation talking about him and your feelings.

Oh, and don't text them all the time. I usually send him a cute good morning but leaving him 20 messages a day is a little much. Believe me, I want to send him everything so I understand. And, unlike basic, you can send them small packages. Make sure they meet the guidelines (look up dos and don'ts). In general, I send him my favorite books with little notes inside. He tells me when he's done and I'll send him another. We also send each other cool songs we found so the other person can listen. You can make it fun just keep in mind how busy and dedicated they are. :)

if your man is overseas fighting in a combat zone the best thing you can do is bottle that shit up and keep it to yourself and not cause him to be stressed out about your shit cause a fucked up cluttered mind in a combat area will lead to him getting injured or killed due to you stressing him out and taking him off his focus. Ladies if you have a problem and are angry then get into a fight with you family or friends but due not put your loved one in harms way by making them mentally unstable and unfocused because they are worried about your problems

Yes, my husband told me. Usually, within a month he will know and also the FRG will have a meeting to tell everyone when they come home.

I’m getting couple red flags first he wants me to send him money I m trying so hard to avoid it and 2nd I ask him if I could send him a care package and he said oh I have everything I need like ok buddy I also meant him online... He also told me this will be his last deployment and he’s done... I already told him I will be waiting for him to come back to see if there’s anything there who knows with him... he also said his wife died and his mom is taking care of his kid I’m so confused 🤷🏼‍♀️

Charasmarie Plans do you know him in real life? It sounds like a scammer. They don't need money, at all. My husband is deploying soon and they get paid, their food there is free. Sometimes people from different countries will scam women for money claiming they're "deployed" and they're not, at all. Feel free to message me on Instagram if you have one. Mine is xo.AmySarah.xo
