Great tips Johnny. Nothing says a you are a fool like not disrespecting local customs and culture or just being stupid. Always a good thing to study before travelling and know what you are getting into before hand. That will make for a much better experience.

Great video, Jonny and let's not forget about all of the obstacles at head hight. Sometimes, if you don't watch where you're going, you can easily hit your head against low hanging billboards, low hanging cables, and more.

Not only are this tips REAL, they can save your trip. Be especially careful when speaking about the king....you can have a VERY bad trip if you speak bad about the king in public. The sidewalks in much of Thailand are like minefields.... Good video Jonny, very useful.

Coming stumbling drunk out of soi cowboy one night-2 friendly ladies offered to take me back to my hotel room. Stupidly, I accepted already opened drink containers-I woke up 12 hours later, money & credit card gone and a do not disturb sign hanging on my door. Just thankful to be alive today to tell the tale.

Yes, the footpaths are treacherous! Good point as I am horrible at looking at the terrain and have come close to many twisted ankles and trips.

The head touch would have caught me out.

Prior to my first visit to Thailand some 20+ years ago, I read up on Thai culture to make sure that I didn't inadvertently do anything wrong. How many of these have any others heard of? Don't put books on the floor/ground. Books are sacred. Documents and books should be passed with both hands. Don't touch someone on the head. The head is sacred. Don't put your feet up on a chair or show the soles of your feet towards someone as its rude, and certainly don't step over someone if they are on the ground, walk around them. When eating a meal, to leave rice is considered bad manners as rice is held in high regard.

Always watch for cars going through red lights , my wife was not looking while crossing at lights in China Town BBK and a taxi went through two red lights and nearly cleaned her up, I just grabbed her in time. 😵‍💫best to always look out at traffic lights even in a car in any country for that matter

I have a Mafia story...😊 Was in bkk on my way back from Honeymoon in Bali with first wife. Thai wife now in California lol 1st wife and I went to a beer place that had great happy hour beer prices. So we both went in. They had sex shows going on in a different part of the bar that we couldn't see. We had about 4 beers each and the tab was way more than the 4 beers. It actually was more than double than what cash I had on me lol. No matter who I talked to, they said I owed 100 USD. I only had 50. Told them I'm not paying that, didn't have it. They said you want to fight 😂. I said I didn't but if they wanted to I'll be out in front. I put what I had on me on the table and said come outside and collect the rest. I was praying is have some farang help outside but luckily they didn't show up and my new wife and I walked away lol that was early 90's and it's never happened again

This is the first I've heard that pants must be worn at temples? I visited one and seemed like lots of folks wearing shorts. I did read that no tank tops allowed the shoulders must be covered.

Pavements, DON'T step on grates, or manhole covers assuming that they are safe. Plenty of them are in pretty poor shape and the last thing you want is to disappear down a hole.

I wish i knew these tips during my stay at Bangkok. Went for a couple of beers without confriming the price and later got 2000 baht bill. While aruging,i touched the head of a fella to back down and next thing you know i started a brawl in the bar. Had to go through 6 fellas, (I am 2.1 M tall and built like a tank) Those kicks are indeed powerful and painful, but i was able to toss a couple of fellas to the nearest wall, to get my way out. Not going back to Bangkok ever. It was 15 years ago.
