I've noticed that afe also makes a sway bar kit for c5/6 that comes in blue and is a little over $200 cheaper than the O'Connell bars. The 2 sets are the same size and dimensions, not really sure why the drastic price difference. Although the blue ones don't come with the end links and may not be made out of chrome molly steel. Anyway, my wife has a base c6 and we're looking into sway bars. Thanks for the review, was very informative and can't wait to see what else you've done as c5s and c6s are very similar. Also glad to see you test your parts on the track.

Are are they adjustable? That would make a difference on track depending on your driving style, these end links re adjustable as well. If you’re street driving it that won’t matter, but also if you’re not tracking it these sway bars will make the car very stiff on the street. It’s not nearly as comfortable of a ride to be honest. the improvement in body roll is amazing though.
@sbc_jake_96776 ай бұрын
@@LowBoostFilmsyes, they look exactly the same minus the color. As mentioned before they dont come with the afe adjustable end link. And summit sells those for $263 alone. So I guess the O'Connell bars would be cheaper than buying the blue ones with the afe end links lol. Her car is her daily but we do use it for autocross. Would link to take to the track eventually but not with out and oil cooler first
@LowBoostFilms6 ай бұрын
@@sbc_jake_9677 nice, they would definitely help out for autocross. I’m not sure you would need an oil cooler for auto Ross but definitely if you’re going to track it the upgraded radiator with the built-in oil cooler was a great upgrade for me. I also did a video on that.
@sbc_jake_96776 ай бұрын
@@LowBoostFilms i have seen the oil temp get up to 254 afew times while autoxing on hot days. Not in the danger zone but definitely not comfortable seeing that. We are going to tune the computer to kick on the fans sooner at some point to see if that helps with temps first

Looks like your "OEM" endlinks in the front were replaced by C6 metal endlinks by a previous owner. The "OEM" endlinks on the back look like moog parts that could be found at the local auto part store. All that i just mentioned is not uncommon to see since the real OEM endlinks are made of plastic and are total garbage. Great video and awesome upgrade. Enjoy it! PS. Looks like you installed your rear endlinks upside down based on what you mentioned about what the instructions say.
@LowBoostFilms4 жыл бұрын
Wow I didn’t know that about the OEM ones. Yea I noticed I did it upside down off camera I was hoping nobody would notice lol. That didn’t take long. They’ve since been switched but I had already filmed this.

I'm in the market for a C5 and i've heard (and read) great things about these sway bars and the Johnny O' Connell shocks. When i get the car i'm going to order both along with a PFADT bushing kit.

Made a huge difference on track. Stiffer on the street but I’m ok with that.

The adjustability is great because everybody wants their car to behave differently. I don’t know if I will have the car ready to go to Watkins Glenn in April. But I gotta get working on it.

Appreciate the input and feedback from a fellow C5 owner. I have an 03 convertible with an A&A supercharger pushing 597 rwh and looking for better handling. Going with C6 Z06 wheels for grip, and considering the sway bars.
@LowBoostFilms Жыл бұрын
I’ve done both wheels and sway bars. The tires matter more than the wheels. These sway bars were the single biggest handling improvement I made to the car. But be warned, it’s stiff AF on the street lol. No more comfy corvette haha.
@ericswild Жыл бұрын
@@LowBoostFilms Im not sure I want to give up the ride that much....My wife and I love taking long trips in this. I am so happy with the supercharger. It can drive like a regular corvette no problem yet me a monster when needed. The cam I added did have a bit of a difference with the low idle..

loved the video. would it be worth the upgrade for a street/strip? I kinda do freeway turns a little fast and don't really wanna start drifting since it's rwd, if any of this makes sense.

It’ll be a harsher ride on the street, but noticeably stiffer.

Great video. What were your torque specs for the bolts on bushings and end links? Also, I track my 2004 Base C5 with stock setup wheels / tire size and heard you have 275's for a square setup in your video. 1) Are you using the stock 18" back wheels for front also? If so, did you have to use a spacer and what size if yes along with bolt extensions? 2) How does it handle with square setup and what is the difference with hard braking into corners & oversteer as probably more solid now into corners? 3) What did the square setup do to the traction control on the car as imagine the wheel change from 17" probably confused the stock program setup? 4) Are you finding any difference in balance of car or tire wear? 5) How do you have your alignment setup as I am at -2 on from and -1.4 on back which is all they could get me with no toe since I have to drive to track? 6) Did you go with bigger brake kit if you put 18" wheels on front? If so, how much of a difference did that make? Thanks as I am in Minnesota and run Brainerd and look forward to Road America next year so want to get the setup correct.
@LowBoostFilms2 жыл бұрын
Ok let’s run this down. I used the stock tq specs for the sway bars and what was suggested in the instructions 1) yes, they’re the rears 18x9.5 all around no spacers 2) it’s very balanced, doesn’t oversteer or understeer too much, it feels great, the sway bars help keep the balance too 3) no traction control problems with the square set up 4) it helps with tire wear because I can rotate the front to the back 5) my alignment is not super aggressive because I do drive it on the street but it is a little bit more aggressive than stock. I don’t have the exact specs but I found on Corvette forum an article that had a pretty good camber setup 6) I put c6 z51 brakes on. Same caliper but bigger rotor and bracket. I have a full video on this as well.
@pauldavis73602 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the updates. Just a few more track questions. 1) What tires do you use or found to be the best as I am currently using the Goodyear Super Eagle 3 at 220 softness Vs. R and how many track days / 2 hour a day do you get out of them? 2) Have you lowered your car. Some of forums say with Base Stock you can only go about 1/2" and need an alignment again. What did you experience if you lowered and thoughts as looks to be easy but don't want to hurt balance or handling of springs. 3) Have you had any issue with brake fade as I haven't yet and have Hawk DTC 60 with GM Rotors. Any insights on things like advancedautofab.com/p/c5-c6-brake-cooling-duct/ 4) What size tires did you put on front and back? Did you go with 275/35/18 or stay with 275/40/18 I am trying to get all updates prior to Road America and Chicago tracks next year.

@@pauldavis7360 check out my other videos I go in depth with a lot of those. I run RE71R 275/35/18 all around I’ve gotten 5 track days out of them with lots to go. Is your car a Z51 car or standard suspension? My C5 coupe is a z51 car and I think it handles pretty nice. I've never tracked my car though, on track might be a different story. A lot of people say the standard c5 has a lot of body roll, I've never driven one so I don't know.
@LowBoostFilms4 жыл бұрын
Standard, and yea it was very soft, now with this it’s MUCH stiffer than a Z51/z06 would be. As far as tracking it goes, you need to. The C5 is at home on a track!

Did you put those on yourself? I've thought about doing some aswell, but I'm not sure I'll have the cahones to start cutting on the rocker panels...

Yea the yellow is a nice touch! Actually those are fake ducts put on by the previous owner, and I’m afraid the paint is faded underneath so I’m scared to remove them lol

Car looks pretty low. Is it slammed on stock bolts or is there a kit? Been back and fourth on going to coil overs on my C5, or just lower it on stock bolts and add new sway bars.

It had lowering bolts when I got it, but I wish I could raise it more. The fronts are seized. I need to fix that. I raised the rear a little bit.
