I finally got to use my Yankum rope which I've had for about a year! It was fun because I knew exactly how use it after watching Matt do it a few thousand times. A little Ford 2-wheel truck drive got stuck in deep sand in a wash at the Ding and Dang trailhead by Goblin Valley. They had been digging and putting rocks under the wheels and were going nowhere. Popped them right out, and they were very impressed with the rope which I got because of Matt. Thanks Matt!

That's close to where I once saw a F150 with a lot of damage from a failed "snatch-um" strap failure. If you follow the road by little wild horse canyon south you have a river crossing prior to factory Butte. A guy decided to play in the river, buried it to the top of the rocker panels in the mud upstream of the crossing area. They hooked two 30 straps together to make a 60ft and to the back of another truck somewhere underneath since there wasn't a hitch on the truck. The strap broke/cut on the back of the pulling truck and blew back through the F150 front grill hollowing out the radiator and destroying the fan. There is a ton of stored energy in those straps/ropes when they are stretched. I have no idea how the finally got the truck out of the river.

@CurmudgeonExtraordinaire
@CurmudgeonExtraordinaire 2 жыл бұрын
Considering the fact that he's using an electric winch which has a 5% duty cycle, I'm surprised that it works for his needs. Being able to winch for 45 seconds and then having to wait 14.25 minutes before being able to use it again just seems a bit useless to me. Especially since that winch only has a line pull speed of 4.7 fpm at full load on the first layer of rope. That means only 3.525 ft in that 45 seconds. With a hydraulic winch, you can operate it all day long since it has a 100% duty cycle. That's why I went with a MileMarker hydraulic winch on my XJ. Unfortunately though, the idiot kiddie engineers at Jeep decided to use an electric hydraulic pump for the steering on the JL and I can't put my old winch on my new JL.

@CurmudgeonExtraordinaire 2 жыл бұрын
@@Baddecisionsjkur -- I'm going by the published specs on the HF Apex winch... I haven't looked up the Smittybilt specs... Around here, if you're stuck, it's probably mud and it might look like perfectly solid ground until you drive on it and quickly find that you are stuck up to the top of your tires... That can take quite a bit of winching to get out of, especially if you are solo... The longest that I ever used the winch was after a hurricane when it knocked down a very old live oak on my property across the road... I first tried just pulling it when my wheels blocked, but I just pulled the Jeep over the blocks... I ended up having to chain my Jeep to another tree and pull the down tree that way... I was pulling nearly all day and after I got through, I had enough firewood easily for the next 20 years (it doesn't get cold enough to need a fire around there, so it was probably enough for the next *100* years)... :)

Cholla cactus - it hardly gets any worse. I have often suggested we don't need a border fence with Mexico; we only have to plant cholla in a swath along the border and intersperse enough boulders to keep people from dragging chains across it. If somebody does drag chains, each piece of the cactus will take root and grow into a new cactus in a few weeks. It is the Devil's lawn.

Great to see that you help returning customers and that this dude seems pretty chill when calling you. Thanks for the info on his health. Last time he looked in really rough shape. Maybe he could use some group / teams to just have someone with him. Great videos as always and I am always amazed on how people drive their truck in the river and think "this is fine". I would just not go there - but then I'm a wuss and don't own any offroad-capable vehicle.

I am currently living with my third Malinois. None of them has exhibited the slightest aggression toward strangers. All of my animals were spayed or neutered as soon as they were old enough, which is the correct thing to do. Perhaps the animal in this video was unaltered. It is irresponsible to allow an unrestrained animal to roam among people who do not know your dog.

You need to do a montage of: "So we got a call for a Razor". Based on how often you get a call for one of them, I will definitely not be buying one of them. I know, the driver can make the difference and drive but they seem awfully fragile.

Trevor, I feel your pain, we have a ton of those cactus where I live and I have gotten attacked by them more times than I care to remember, I once brushed one while landing my paraglider and ended up with a 1" spine buried so deep in my leg only 1/8" was poking out, the thing was so deep it was actually in my thigh muscle, so it wiggled everything I moved my leg, had to pull it out with pliers...

Addicted to the channel. Here's why I watch: 25% - to see the Banana or Morvair absolutely kill it where others could not tread 25% - to see the rescue itself, learning from the mistakes of others (your rental Mazda 3 will not do sand...) 15% - the scenery. Lived in Southern Utah for a year and it's amazing (add: the camera work) 15% - the personalities - pure laid back Utah, "We'll get 'em out" 10% - to see what kind of junk they will eat on their way to the desert 10% - to hear the story of how the "customer" got stuck in the first place
