Shorts are engaging. But have a massive down side. They don’t seem to cause viewers to go watch the channels long form content. I’ve added CTAs in shorts to see if viewers cross over to the long form, 0.7%!

Yeah, I used to have another channel and would only upload yt shorts but when I wanted to upload long form videos, they would get no views.

Please do not trust youtube I was denied monetization for violating the KZfaq Channel Monetization Policy. Do you know why? No it's impossible to know because this is the only message they send. You don't need to read them. I did it. They are good at telling you that you must not steal videos (never done) But on edge cases they remain vague. 1000 subscribers? Done. Views? Done. 1 million in 3 months. Original content? No claims. They are my gameplay. Edited with tons of filters. Without commentary it is true. But extremely modified. 4000 hours of viewing? I ate them. All in an absolutely lawful manner, without click bait and without particular tricks. Pure gameplay. Result? Wasted time. As long as they could, however, they monetized my videos. Suddenly it becomes a violation of the rules of monetization. What a show. 1 million views in 3 months. Calculate how much money you have pocketed. But the funniest thing is that, for example, videos that encourage scratch cards are more than monetized, in my country at least. 100% honest

Okay i appreciate what you do here. That being said. This is aggravating. This is catered to a very specific niche, the how to niche. You can use google trends all day but you have to understand that all channels are different. Not every niche is different, all channels are different. If youve made it this far, just focus on making each video better than the one before. You cant "algorithm hack" your way to the top. Just enjoy the process, make sure you enjoy making video because otherwise you're wasting your time.

My content doesn't turn into full video views for the most part. So I rarely post shorts anymore. Maybe that will change. I don't chase the numbers so much anymore. It's bad for mental health, and there are far too many other things to be concerned with nowadays. I've had a second video go somewhat viral. No explanation. Just happened after a 4 month of doing nothing. Why? It doesn't matter. I'll just keep making the content I like.

Yes mid-form may actually cross pollinate between the two forms or at least provide enough content for an ongoing viewer relationship without having to "invest" so much time in watching a longer form - so much longer form videos have waaaaaaay too much fluff especially those written by AI...

I've been making quite a few shorts that solve a very specific problem or offer a tip. I make a lot of how to videos, I'll take the best 1 or 2 tips from the long form and make them into a short. Those searchable shorts are doing quite well.

Yes, I've had a short like this, a couple in fact! My most viewed kinda evergreen short has been gaining views every single day, and has done since November last year! It's good, but the one thing with Shorts, people hardly EVER watch your long form content! You can add as many CTA's as you like, make the content engaging as possible, and they won't watch anything else. Shorts subs subscribe and then do nothing. It feels like having fake subscribers but without paying. Don't get me wrong Shorts are a great way to test the waters, reach new audiences, but don't rely on them! Learn how to make good thumbnails, titles, description, experiment with them for long form, learn how the platform works, because believe me when you see 200 views on a video (I had one a few days ago) you'll feel proud!

The REAL hack to add REAL thumbnails on your short is to upload them in your phone as a "normal" video. There will be an option to add thumbnail because youtube doesn't realize it's a short yet. Once you upload you have BOTH the REAL thumbnail and a short. The catch is that the thumbnail has to be ready at time of upload and CANNOT be changed. I don't want to make a second channel just to show this, but I would like a little credit Edit: KZfaq may have patched this recently. Was working last week on android, but not today Edit 2: Confirmed this still works on 5/31/23!

I just wonder if anyone experiences the same thing as me. So recently, I uploaded 2 long form videos on my channel with a week gap between. The funny thing is, these two videos had the exact same pattern. Originally it started out slow, gradually increasing in views then sort of flatlining for about half a day before picking up a surge of viewers. Then after 3 days of the videos being uploaded, it just flatlined. So basically youtube promoted my videos and it was doing well (11.6% ctr in one and 7.3% ctr in the other) and suddenly they just shut my videos down after 3 days.....

Any suggestion on what to do if youtube is giving 0-10 impressions after a week? Thumbnail is high quality, similar to competitors, keywords and quality of the video are good, again comparable to competitors. Changing the thumbnail and title does nothing. Through Vidiq I can see that competitors videos without any keywords at all are trending...

Agreed! Even when all metrics are high, views stop after a while..I am sure that this platform has more than enough people with enough content and that's one of the reasons views stop after a day. And platform accommodate everyone in shorts feed

KZfaq seems to be pushing us away, especially small channels like ours. Maybe we should switch to TikTok, where we can reach more people and have more fun. KZfaq needs to make up its mind before it loses us for good. I think TikTok is way better than KZfaq. I feel like KZfaq doesn’t care about us anymore, especially the small channels. We might have a better chance on TikTok, where the audience is more engaged and the content is more diverse. KZfaq should decide what it wants before it’s too late. TikTok beats KZfaq in my opinion. KZfaq is driving us away, especially the small channels that need more support. We should consider moving to TikTok, where we can find more opportunities and enjoy ourselves more. KZfaq has to figure out what it’s doing before we leave for good. I prefer TikTok over KZfaq.

Here is reality, this is coming from KZfaq themselves. Don’t let vid iq tell you it is your fault you aren’t getting views on shorts. It most likely isn’t. They are struggling with shorts and giving reach to them. Vid iq should be up front about this but isn’t
