I have easy to follow and thorough step by step tutorials "do it yourself" (DIY) videos to help you with your broken lawn and garden equipment including snowblowers and zero turn mowers.
I do my best to teach you how to easily diagnose problems the fastest, quickest and most efficient way with real repairs beyond just replacing a spark plug. These tips are for both the homeowner and shop owner.
Whether it be a handheld, two stroke, two cycle engine like a chainsaw, weed eater, weed whacker, string trimmer, grass trimmer, line trimmer, hedge trimmer, strimmer, brush cutter, leaf blower, or four stroke, four cycle units like a lawnmower, wood splitter, lawn tractor, zero turn mower, snowblower, pressure washer, generator or a ride on mower that needs parts installed or replaced, I’m your go-to guy.
My favorite brands of spark plugs are NGK and Champion and are the ones I recommend.
I’ve been a small engine mechanic for many decades and also run my own repair shop so my videos are loaded with tips and tricks that I have learned and want to share with you. You will also find many tool and product reviews from top brands on my channel as well.
I have the largest Small Engine Repair Video Library on KZfaq and the entire internet with over 1200 videos, just GOOGLE "DONYBOY73"!
I want "DON THE SMALL ENGINE DOCTOR" on KZfaq to save you time, frustration and most importantly, MONEY with my HOW-TO videos!

Another tip is to touch up the paint on your machine at the end of each season. It keeps the rust from ruining it.

I always make a pass down the driveway, clean up all the plowed salty snow at the end, then do the rest of the driveway. I don't have data to prove it, but it seems like processing a bunch of clean snow after the salty snow would leave that much less salt sitting on and in the machine, and therefore perhaps less rust?

Super important to lubricate the auger shaft! Lots of these do not have grease fittings. The best way I have found is to pull up on the auger slightly so a small gap can be had in between the auger and shaft, you can then blast in some white lithium grease in by the hole where the shear bolt goes and in the ends using the straw that comes with the can. Cutting the straw on an angle also helps it shoot in the gap. I always keep an aerosol nozzle with straw superglued in to it to keep it from poping out when trying to lubricate hard to get at things!

My Yard Machines snowblower is 24 years old and I have never had to change the shear pins. You have me worried that there's no hope of getting them out if they do break.
@johnw1178
@johnw1178 Жыл бұрын
@@badtothebone346 I am a fan of PB blaster. If you are worried I recommend giving the shear bolts a hit now and then. Although they will likely break it’s still good to get a penetration oil in just if you ever have more of an issue. I had to have the gasket on the coil changed on my tankless burner years back and sprayed the rusted bolts for about 4 weeks before the service took place. I had to laugh when they came to do it and they said usually all the bolts break. All of them came out without an issue on a 20+ year old burner. I told them I should get a discount for saving them having to drill out and tap the holes 😉. The other great thing to do is spray the entire housing, augers and impeller with WD40 or similar before and after using the machine. It prevent the snow from sticking and offers a rust prevention as well.

Thank you for your easy to understand videos. I have this same Yard-Man 13hp/33" snow thrower. It has planetary gears. How do I grease them? Do you have a video showing how to do this? Blessings on your day to you and yours.

Hey Donny! When’s the best time to replace the grease in the impeller transmission? I currently change it once every never. 😂 Also, you said there’s a shortage in the grease for this? What should I look for?

i just top it up only but it won't hurt to replace it. Shell Alvania is a good grease for that

anti-seize tip: wear gloves when you use it...get a little one you finger or somewhere on your hand and by the time you've covered the rag you're trying to get it off with...it's all the way up your arm...lol. Happy New Year Don

Makes you wonder why the factory doesn't use antiseize on the shear pins and axle shafts! I mean the cost to them maybe a buck! Shows no pride in manufacturing. I just fought a customer's shearling. Used pb blaster and air chisel!
