Once I was able to control the ball a little bit, I could run laps around them. I would actually have to restrain myself when playing against other women to avoid causing injury. I'm not sure that's true. When we refer to someone with pronouns, 99% of the time we are basing that on their gender, not their sex. We don't know people's chromosomes, nor do we ask to pull down their pants so show us what sort of genitals they have (which would still not necessarily be 100% accurate). In a medical or sports context it's different, of course, as their sex needs to be known for that. But unless you're a doctor it doesn't really apply to you. In our day-to-day lives we have always made assumptions from outward characteristics: face, voice, build, hair, etc. Usually this gives us an obvious answer. Sometimes it's difficult to say. Sometimes our obvious answer for their gender is actually not what their sex is at all. And in the future as transitioning methods improve, there may come a point where pretty much everyone 'passes' as their desired gender. You say you don't give a shit about gender, but I think in the vision of the future that I've just described, many conservatives would still have a problem with people being transgender.

A lie I'm willing to perform to not get into an argument with someone. And also interestingly recently the Dunning-Kruger effect has been apparently proven to be bad science based on its own data - apparently their statistical analysis was wrong, and that in fact with more correct analysis, most people whether performing well or badly have a similar idea of the ratio they fall in.

You can stick to your belief because there are currently no known good opposing arguments, and you can STILL be willing to admit you're wrong if such evidence presents itself. But in many cases, such evidence just doesn't exist. Some beliefs really SHOULD be strongly believed: like the biological difference between men and women, especially in average strength.

I dunno, women typically reason (more than men) on emotion and feeling; so it may just be natural to her to say feel; even if she means think.

I think some people understand what they think about something via their feelings, hence the use of “I feel” statements. It’s not necessarily that they don’t have solid reasoning to back up their claims, but they use their feelings about something as a portal to understand their thoughts about something. If they are met with new information that changes their mind, then their overall feeling about it will change. Later, if they are questioned about the same topic, they will still use their feeling to access their thoughts, but now it’s a different feeling (hence a different set of thoughts). This took me a long time to wrap my head around as someone who would always think first and feel second, but I dated a man with this process. Drove me mad at first, but eventually it helped me become more balanced between my thoughts and feelings. Some people also use one or the other depending on the situation. My tendency as a 30 year old female is to use “I think” statements (my environment growing up was emotions = bad), but as I’ve learned to make friends with my emotions over the last several years, I’ve begun to recognize the utility of using one or the other depending on the context, and I find myself switching between both now. I feel that in some situations it can help get your message across in a more effective way. Communication is complex, and what matters at the end of the day is not what you said, but what the other person understood about what you said. So I’m all for reading your audience to choose what words to say to communicate your message to the intended recipient. :)

People saying, "I feel..." when I'm in a conversation with them is so fucking annoying. I don't care about what you feel (if it isn't a gut instinctual feeling as those are loosely linked to thought), I care about what you think.

Police/investigation show with quirky main characters. Specifically, The Mentalist, Castle, and Lie to Me, we're right in it : main character is a consultant, no professional police background, but so insightful they're the ones solving the case, in a way more efficient manner that's also unconventional. I don't know for sure if in Bones she's a consultant or part of the police, but I'm decently confident she's the main one to solve all the cases. You'd probably have a decent time with it if you like that kind of stuff.

My sport is basketball. And when girls join in a run, it's laughable how soft the guys play against her. She will basically get free looks at the basket, but even then, guys will stick up a 'token' hand during her shot and often still block her. I dont go 100% on girls either.

It’s hands down the best way I found at having conversations about sensitive topics with loved ones. It’s not me against them, it’s both of us looking at the methods used and figuring out if they’re reliable and then adjusting our confidence in the belief accordingly. I wish Magnabosco was still putting out content regularly, his videos are full of some really clever and compassionate questions, his angle is so sincere.

For contrast: When I was in high school I was in club soccer(highest skilled league - invite only) and the best 3 players from every team were invited to a soccer camp coached by the coach of the US Men's national soccer team. On the last day, 4 players from the team came and we played against them and the coach. 5 pros vs a full team of the absolute best boys high school soccer players and they completely destroyed us. We scored one lucky goal from across the field that only went in because they didn't have a goalie.

Pelvis. I think you only need to look at the pelvis. Oh, and the skull cavity. Men have much larger brains. Also the legs are longer in males. Then there's bone density of course. Average size of the skeleton. I think women have a bifurcated pelvis also, it splits apart during child birth. I should look that up, in case i ever need to argue with a sophist. That's just common sense stuff that everyone knows. I imagine there are myriad differences to the educated eye.

When examining a human skeleton, what does it mean to measure its "speed"? How does that work? Since its just a skeleton, obviously it isn't moving? How do you measure its "strength"? All the muscle mass is gone. How do you measure its "endurance"? What that even mean? Bone density I get; that's an obvious physical property that can be measured. Lung capacity, based on the size of the ribcage, that makes sense as well. The other properties I'm not sure about, especially "speed."

There a lots of different methods to examine bones for sex because skeletons aren't always complete. But the easiest way seems to be the pelvis.

@@commandershepard9920 I don't think Johnny Appleseed's comments about speed, strength, endurance etc were specifically about skeletons. They were more general observations about the significant physiological differences between men and women. Although, you could infer strength from a skeleton based on the area where muscles attach to the bones. On males, and on people who undertake frequent physical activity, such as manual labor, the attachment points on the bones are larger.
