When you spoke on do not elevate your voice, do not say hurtful things, do not let it escalade where you can't hear one another and you do not have to say anything but marinate on what was said then speak about it later when you both are able to sit down like grown people. My husband & I have been together since we were 17(almost 12 years) & arguments over petty things, things you just cannot change & differences will ruin your relationship. While I believe communication is a big key, listening to understand instead of react is one of the biggest! You & your spouse may not agree on everything(nobody does), but you can still express your opinion & understand why the other feels that way then go on about the conversation.

Very good advice on that. Arguments should never be the last type of communication for the day. Don't go to sleep mad at each other. Always figure out what the problem is, talk it out and apologize at the end of it. Especially if something is said that shouldn't have been said.
