The necklace was first seen around November 2020 and it’s from the Eyefunny brand as a special gift from gg that he wears close to his heart! The bone necklace is associated with GG, and talked about as a symbol of GG and DD’s relationship! It has practically not left DD’s neck! GG and DD are well aware that fans associate it with GG, and with their relationship so if either of them was offended by the idea, DD would have stopped wearing it a long time ago! DD still wears his precious bone necklace constantly! 😊

I hope you understand what I mean, I am not against eastern culture, I’m just saying translation must take into consideration the MEANING of words. And that’s not what brother means in western.

The Chinese words gege and didi literally mean older brother and younger brother in English respectively, with the same meaning. It’s just that in China and Korea seniority counts alot even if it’s just months or days that they are older coz that means the younger one has to give respect and listen to the older one and later on it seems to have developed into something for some people who have “quirk” in being the older one in the relationship.

@@Unyok10 I know about all this, I love c-dramas, I am not talking about the eastern culture, I respect it. I am just saying I think translation should consider culture too (like professional translation does), otherwise people misunderstand things. You can’t just translate things literally if the meaning is metaphorical, it’s weird. Gege and didi should be translated for something else with similar meaning in English, which is not brother because brother in English is either a relative or a good friend, not a crush, that would be disgusting. This is what I wish for people to realize, that things are different in Western.
