Hi Erin, love your videos and I love how you present object data to show how a speaker perform. I am researching from past month went through your videos on understanding the measurements and lot of videos on budget speakers. I was a little confused about Polk XT 20 and Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 but thinking to go with Polk XT 20. I live in a city in India where I do not have an option to listen to speakers before I buy so getting objective data should help a bit in making an informed decision. Keep up the good work you do it has really helped me.

I like the idea of introducing EQ live. Do it in small steps: 1st, REW and umik-1 to do some measurements. 2nd analysis of what you measured. 3rd basic EQ of a 2.0 system. 4th would be sub measurements and placement and the. Integrating sub with REW. I'd love to see some data on Focal.

Honestly, the options you gave for newer ppl to the industry were fantastic. Sooo much better than where I started in the late 90's. Like you said, there is just so much to learn and it can be overly daunting to many who are just trying to get into hifi and get something that truly sounds good. I am still learning so much after my 20+ year journey, more like realizing how much I actually don't know lol. Keep it up man, I like your approach. You're also teaching ppl how to approach the used market with the knowledge you're sharing. I'm not going to be able to afford much of the hifi stuff brand new, but used market suddenly makes some of these products tangible. My journey has brought me to this point, which I'm running a b&k reference series preamp, with a b&k 125.2 amp, and pushing infinity rs-3b's for under 1k, which is something I really pride myself on because I had the knowledge to shop on the used market for my tastes at a significantly reduced price. Everyone that comes to hear my setup is just shocked at how good it sounds, not to mention what I paid. They ask how I did it, and I said research online, being patient, and watching KZfaq videos lol! That's what you're helping ppl do, both in the used and new markets.

I predict the JBL L52 will not even begin to measure linear but '70s and '80s music will sound nice on them.

The wiim hate coming both for subjective and objective audio camps just shows audio snobbery can come from both directions. Complaining about slight deviations in response from a $300 product as versatile as the wiim is crazy.

On the load dependence of Class D amplifiers ... this is a tempest in a teapot. In most cases we're talking about 1 db or less. First: Nobody is going to hear a tiny difference of 1db across frequencies ... *nobody.* Then consider that the actual peak in output usually is well beyond 20khz again, nobody is going to hear that. This is a mistake many people, even trained technicians, make all the time. It's about not taking the scaling on the response charts into account. These charts showing the wild curves are zoomed in to show 1 or 2 db as full scale... zoom them out to show the full 80 or 90 db of the output and that 1db difference is going to be so tiny you won't even see it... and 1db variation in 80 db is going to be totally inaudible. (Edited to clarify) When I run into this I'm reminded of the guy who spent thousands of dollars on cables and room treatments because his system showed a dip of 1db at 400hz ... But when I asked him if he'd ever actually heard that his answer was "No". The moral of the story is to not fuss over stuff that doesn't matter.

Erin, about my anechoic SPL question. If you are measuring 95 db anechoic, would there be room gain through out the frequency band in a room? Room reflections add to the sound power? Or am i getting the wrong idea of what an anechoic spl measurement is versus what you would measure in a room.

Regarding the SEAS Coax drivers, Take a look at their two latest versions, the MR18REX/XF and the C18EN002/A. They also make an OEM version for ex machina with what I would believe is 1st generation TPCD. All those look far better than their older designs, both at the tweeter "horn throat" and by their inverted and smaller surrounds (pure midrange). One Speaker I'd really like for you to test, by the way, is the SEAS KingRO4Y Mk III. I'd expect that one to have some very attractive properties.

And one of the Ex Machina Pulsar, Quasar or Ganymede models, by the way. Quite curious about the TPCD drivers from SEAS.

Late to the party,, 🤬. If you read this Erin and I hope you do,, 🌟. Do you think people in common, or in the know, realize how many musical instruments lowest ground-note bottoms out lower than 30Hz, instruments like 88key piano, 5string bass with A-drop, synthesizers, bass-drum, floor-toms,, etc, etc, all very common instruments used in modern music, and thereby how necessary a low-reaching sub is, to be able to hear what is recorded. As always, thank you ever so much for your work and time Erin,, ❣🙏❣
@Douglas_Blake_579
@Douglas_Blake_579 5 ай бұрын
The lowest note on a grand piano is at 27.5hz ... but it's unlikely you will hear the actual fundamental tone. Pianos are percussion instruments and they spit out huge piles of harmonics and side tones... which is what you actually hear. Most people don't hear much below about 40hz or above 15khz.

Not live I know, but I have a question: Can loudspeakers make amplifiers sound different? It seems that we use amplifiers to test speakers, but we never test amplifiers using speakers. I think something has gone under the radar. But I suspect that to most I am just confusing them?

My HT is really narrow. I'm thinking I have to use in-wall speakers for the surrounds, or the speakers are literally going to be right next to somebody's ear. Have you found a decent in-wall speaker? What else can I do?
@pulDag
@pulDag 5 ай бұрын
Try angled on-walls and mount them much higher than ear height. Also the so-called timber match is a thing, especially if you don't have the ability to tune frequency response for every channel separately.. some in-walls were tested by Erin. Depending on your budget there were some really good..

I suspect that most manufacturers that won't send their speakers to you for review, but send them to other reviewers who do not provide objective measurements, are worried their speakers won't measure well. To me, that is a red flag - a warning not to buy those speakers. In that regard, I think it would be a service to the community to provide a list of companies that won't send you their speakers for review. This is something that may help steer people in the right direction when making a buying decision.

Erin, I hear you complaining in this video about comments in your last video, but I read a lot of those comments and I didn't see anything negative or WiiM hating.. I know I made a couple of comments that maybe seemed like they complicated the waters but they were no way trying to contradict anything that you said; I mentioned another subwoofer that you recommended in a shootout video you did a while back that I said was a good sub, if you could get it on sale, as the price has gone way higher. I focused one comment on a "cheap HT" alternative for a small listening space.. I hope you weren't reacting to anything that I've said, bc I've always thought of this channel as favorable, and don't have any negative comments, unless they were incorrectly misread as such.
@ErinsAudioCorner

Nah, most of my “complaining” was in comments I receive from certain individuals who seem to have something to say about every video I create.
