Love your videos Dr Sam! So I actually have a sunscreen suggestion, I barely hear anyone mention this one. It’s from Eucerin. They came out with a few sunscreens this year and I am in LOVE with the Age Defense plus hyaluronic acid SPF 50. It’s a chemical sunscreen but it doesn’t sting or burn or run into my eyes ever! I wear contact lenses and use tretinoin so I usually feel the burn on my skin or in my eyes with chemical sunscreens but this one is so nice and hydrating and easy to spread. Aaaaaand it’s only $15 for 2.5 oz! Can’t beat that! Hope this helps someone out.

Great video! For sunscreen, I’ve used the Missha Soft Finish Sun Milk. I’ve dabbled with other brands, but always come back to this specific product. It’s soft, smoothing, beautiful under makeup. It has a light fragrance and is my favorite product to use in the morning routine.

Over the years I learned that less is more. Thanks for the video confirming that. Anyway, I have a very important question which most KZfaq dermatologist don't cover. I noticed that you did not use Vit. C or the sunscreen over the top of your eyes and eyelids. Are you not suppose to use there? The sun penetrates your eyelids same as your face also, the retinols that you get specifically made for eye area, are you supppose to put it on top of your eyes and eyelids? Please be the doctor that at least covers the basics of application where others don't. TIA.

I use sunscreen on my eyelids, but a rather small amount since eyelids are very thin and sensitive and I don't want the sunscreen to get runny and end up in my eyes... I also wear sunglasses with 100% protection against UV every time I go outside, I'd say if you wear sunglasses with 400 UV (100% UV protection) you can probably skip sunscreen on your lids altogether! I'm not a doctor tho but this might help.

My absolute favorite sunscreen is the Cetaphil ProDerma SPF 30 mattifying sunscreen. It's a moisturizer, but doesn't leave you feeling greasy. It has the SPF needed. It's in a pump and unscented. My favorite part though is the mattifying properties. So, for those of us who may get a little oily, or those who don't love glowing like a disco ball, this does a fantastic job at keeping the "shiny" at bay. It's worked under every foundation I've tried without pilling up. I got it at Ulta for about $14, but I'm sure you can get it just about anywhere that sunscreen is sold. So, so good!

I prefer the Timeless 10% vitamin C serum for an ascorbic acid formulation. My skin seems to tolerate it well, but I haven’t been able to work up to daily use. Three times a week seems to be my max. I’m currently testing the Vanicream SPF 30 (mineral/physical) and Beauty of Joeson SPF 50 (“chemical”) sunscreens and liking them. I recently got the BoJ sunscreen for just over $10 a tube.

Thank you for recommending the Beauty of Joseon sunscreen, I've been struggling with sunscreens that either irritate my skin or roll/flake off if I try to apply anything on top of them, but this sunscreen works like a miracle. It makes my skin very soft and glowy without irritation or any other issues. Perhaps I've finally found The One Sunscreen. 😍 Also, I was wondering, do your know or have you tried skincare products from the brand Paula's Choice? They have several retinol products, exfoliants and serums and I'd love to hear your thoughts on those.

Some of my fav sunscreens are: - Beauty of Joseon (obviously!) - Isntree Water Suncream (Korean - pretty dewy, better for oilier folks in winter and dry folks in summer) - Eucerin Oil Control Sunscreen (matte finish for oily ppl) - SVR suncreen (same as Eucerin) I can't rmb the name but it's got an orange packaging. These are all chemical sunscreens I believe. No white cast really.

My go-to sunscreen is the Axis-y No Stress Sunscreen. Similar in price to the Beauty of Joseon one. Dries matte and feels so good, but the main reason I love it is because IT DOESN'T STING MY EYES. Eye stinging is my only deterrent to wearing sunscreen, so it's super important to me that the ones I choose don't.

I really like using vitamin c. I found it could be irritating and burned sometimes, especially on my neck area, but I found I was using too much of it at a time. With this one…less is more and still is great. I noticed a difference in my discoloration on my face and hands pretty quickly and I loved that! I will continue to use it. I have tried a few different ones and I really like the lowest price one the best. I let it dry about 1 minute before next step.

As someone with very reactive, clog prone dry skin my favorite SPF is Isntree Watery Sun Gel SPF 50. It’s a godsend and the most pleasant SPF I’ve ever used. I buy it by bulk once a year. I love it so much. It’s a chemical sunscreen and leaves no white cast on my medium-dark complexion. Another great one is the DRMTLGY Universal Tint SPF. This is a hybrid SPF that’s got a marvelous tint great for darker folks. I use it more in winter since it’s stark and bright where I live. I end up reading how reflective the sun is in the winter snow and I’ve found the Universal Tint to be strong. I alternate between the two all year.

One question that I have seen surfaced of late is sunscreen application. Should we be putting sunscreen under the eye and on eyelid? For affordable sunscreen, I love the Cetaphil Sheer 100% Mineral Liquid Sunscreen. It isn't moisturizing but it has a high SPF and rubs in super quickly and easily. It leaves a slight white cast but even that fades after a couple of minutes. I also like to take the L'oreal age perfect foundation which has SPF 50 and mix that in with another sunscreen to make a tinted sunscreen. I mixed it with the Neutrogena sensitive skin mineral sunscreen which was super gloopy and I only got it because it was the cheapest mineral face sunscreen I could find. But, since the foundation is really thin, mixing it with a lower quality but cheap and thick sunscreen made a tinted sunscreen that was only around $20 for 4 ounces (1, 1 ounce bottle of L'oreal foundation to 1, 3 ounce bottle of Neutrogena sunscreen) and could be made in a huge variety of shades. I really like that combination for a super affordable tinted sunscreen that doesn't make my eyes burn like some other sunscreens have.

While it seems pricey as a standalone item, the Colorescience Sunforgettable FaceShield Flex has replaced makeup for me, so Im' able to justify the $45/1.8 oz price since it replaces multiple products (primers, base makeups, concealers). I thought the cost of the 3 in 1 Total Eye was bonkers but decided to give it a try and find it worth the price given you need very little product when used over the Faceshield Flex - just enough to add brightening (and the extra protection). I realize these wouldn't qualify as budget on their own, but can't say enough good for them - they're absolutely worth it.

Paulas choice has a great sunscreen for less than $20. No breakouts and spf 50. Extra care non greasy. 5 oz. Face or body. I use on face every day.

The la roche posay one is not available in the UK ☹️ My fave substitute is Avene Intense protect spf50+ for very sensitive skin! It retails around £20 for 150ml It's soooo hydrating and leaves the skin glowing

WONDERFUL video! I highly enjoyed it. Thank you so much for the resources you provided and the ideas you included in this video. I highly appreciate it. Love your videos. I can't tell you how many hours I've spent studying with your "study with me" videos. I absolutely love your style cinematic style. The cool tones remind me of David Fincher, one of my favorite directors. Thanks again! :)

what about Paula's Choice C15 Super Booster? It also has Vitamine E + Ferulic Acid. Not the cheapest, but a lot less expensive than Skin Ceuticals C E Ferulic

Great video! I love Vanicream Daily Moisturizer with SPF 30. It is nice and surprisingly sheer as a zinc-based mineral alternative to La Roche Double Repair Toleraine Moisturizer with SPF 30, especially for those with sensitive skin.

You have the best skin 😭😭😭. I’m so jealous 😭. I’m always trying to fight my acne dry skin but I always get bumps even under the skin by just using cerave to mitigate the acne products … I’m so scared of vit c for the possibile irritation

For my sunscreen recommendation, i really like the eucerin sun allergy sunscreen. Idk if you can get it in the US but if you can get, do it. It's my favourite sunscreen by far

I've tried a bazillion Vitamin C serums over the years, and I can't find one that does not cause everything else on top to ball up. So now I use DRMTLGY V5 moisturizer. It has 5 types of Vit-C plus ceramides and peptides. It essentially combines the serum and moisturizer steps. So I can put it directly onto cleansed skin, soak it in, then follow up with DRMTLY tinted sunscreen. :) Shortens morning routine DRASTICALLY. The v5 moisturizer is on the spendy side, but DRMTLGY constantly has 20% (and sometimes 30%) off sales. So you never have to pay full price for their products.

My favorite affordable sunscreens are the Australian Gold botanical tinted sunscreen spf 50, the bondi sands face spf 50, and a new one I’ve tried that works well is the solimo sheer facial sunscreen lotion spf 55. Dry skin friendly overall, although the Australian one is better for me mixed with the bondi to moisturize better.
