Having the clearest salt that mixes 24 to 48 hours without heat seems good ! Hopefully you can work around the levels . Your cost per gallon video is Great also ! Excellent Work ! Thank you !

wow. thank you for doing these episodes of investigates. so far, my local lfs uses instant ocean reef crystals & so far... they’re parameters actually are stable.

For the price, it's not a bad salt mix. You just have to go into it knowing the pro's and con's to make the right decisions 🙂

Lots of possibilities now for extended storage or AWC systems with equipment fail safes (float switch) while avoiding major precip issues. Thank you and for the comment that unheated was ~10 degrees less than heated.

That’s great for long-term storage, would say that you want to keep the water warm for a water change so you don’t shock the tank with a temp swing.

If it was cheaper, I'd like to see icp testing regarding trace elements. I know that's a bit unreasonable but essentially the alk, cal and amount of leftovers are a great reference point. Thank you for doing this study

for the heating required part: duuuuuh... Physics calls Earth :D Water can solve more as its temperature rises, and precipitates solids out of a saturated mixture as the temperature is falling. Think of a jar of honey as it goes opaque-sugary in your pantry and you put the jar in warm water and it becomes transparent again.

Literally just started saltwater but Can you mix instant ocean salt in aquarium with pump and wave makers or do I need to mix in 5 gallon bucket please help

Why does my stored water get a sour smell to it after about a week? I keep the brute can loosely covered, and run a power head. I have cleaned the brute can using vinegar, but that didn’t help. Would you consider this water unsafe to use after it starts to smell?

I know this is old comment but for the future people wanting an answer. Its the DI resen going "bad" It starts to release what smells like fishy smell. Its actually not terrible or toxic to the tank per se.. just note, its time to change out the DI resin.

So after conducting these test what would you suggest for storing Red Sea Coral Pro? It seems like it’s either best to keep flow permanently or to mix for a few hours and stop. There didn’t seem to be stability or precipitation issues when it stayed mixed, only when the mixing stopped. I’m new to reefing and currently setting up a 75g aquarium.

I use a big pump to mix water and I usually leave it in there because it is great for water change to pump water in but when I cover it heats up so i will take the cover off the day i am doing the change. Its never more than a few days because I mix it the day I plan to do a water change but may end up putting it off for a couple days...lol I am sure it is heating it to over 90, so I never thought about what that can do to the water. Do you think that water is okay to use or should I switch to the 1200 marineland I just bought? Also, do i run the pump 24 7? I saw some people say they use a timer. I thought keeping it aeriated was best but now not sure what to do.

Here is a question for everyone. If i am making my ro water with well water and the temp of the water is say 55-60 should i let the temp rase to 78 then add salt or just add the salt as sone as i get the last gallon made. Ps i make a 50 gallon bag at a time so it might take a day to get to 78 and it is in the basement.

I still reckon it's better just to store RODI water than it is to keep salt water mixed I just mix what I need and use that day without any issues

WILDWELSH PETE I’d be curious about one thing: RODI water is incredibly aggressive about absorbing material, including anything that can leach out of the container, as well as gas in the air. How someone stores their RODI can make a huge difference (type, brand, age of container, hoe much air access, etc) and not as easy to test.

@@donquixote2206 that's true I've never had any issues and I rotate my RODI drums so it's not kept for very long periods of time It's kept in food grade 25 litre drums that's only been used for RODI water

SIR, A LOT OF WHAT YOU SAY HERE isn't right; Red Sea OCEAN REEF - the choice of at least 75% of marine aquarists in the UK, EU and India gives a complete 100% seawater as long as TDI reads correctly and YOU MUST FOLLOW all instructions. This kind of exercise was done 10+ years ago
