Farrells Ice Cream parlour was a chain of restaurants that opened in 1963 and closed in 2019. This is a Thursday Throwback Thursday with added footage.

Omg, I remember when I was 5 years old and my grandmother from Canada flew to our state and while my parents were both working she called a taxi to take me to lunch for my birthday. I’ve never forgot that. She bought me an ice cream sundae for my desert for my birthday. I miss you grandma. ❤

In, 1975 and I remember going to Farrell's Ice Cream Parlour, which was located in the Oakland Mall, was located on John R and 14 Mile Road in Troy, Michigan. The food was Delicious and the Banana Splits, and Sundaes. And, I also celebrated my 18 th.,Birthday Day at Farrell's Oakland Mall location. I,also wish that Farrell's Ice Cream Parlours would return. 12:48

Yes!!! Got my license and spent many a Friday and/or Saturday night there. Cerritos Mall, Torrance (near Del Amo Shopping Center), and Stonewood in Downey. Practically a weekly trip for us.

Went to Farrell’s at the Buena Park location right before they closed. We had no idea they were on the verge of closing, so I’m glad we went.

Only went to a Ferrel's once. It was on Van Nuy's Blvd. Sir George's Smorgasbord?

I remember going ro Farrell's on special occasions as a child. There were several around Atlanta and they are sorely missed by mqny. Marriott ruined a lot of good companies into the ground after buying them.

It would also be interesting to see a history of those wonderful A-frame restaurants popular in Southern California - Foxy's Lodge and Restaurant/The Copper Penny, Eric! I came across one of the old structures a bit by chance riding around San Mateo and at first thought it was an old der Wienerchnitzel, but it didn't have a cutout drive through! That one is now a Pantry Restaurant, but a historic site can't confirm whether it used to be one of the first two!

Stay tuned...next month on August 26th I will be releasing The Old Towne Mall Version 2.0. I revised it and added more information about it. It will be three times longer than the original.

It's really been a shame that it seems the Marriott Corporations seem to historically bought out properties only to turn around and unload them - weakening the brands into obscurity or permanent closures!
