@@m.h.7630 Nope, not quite, rather to alert the group to possible danger - same as monkeys do when they spot predators, snakes etc. Mute groups of monkeys would die out quickly, no matter what gender. Screaming is an evolutionary trait increasing chance of survival of a whole group. Single scream could be hard to locate, with repetition (and chorus) it's much easier to discern direction of noise. Thanks to screaming females (and males) we are here today and that's why they shouldn't feel ashamed, when it happens to them, but try to understand and accept it.
