I’ve been saying this. Genuinely feel like there is a significant majority of this country (as many as 8million people) who will vote reform on 4/7. I am one of those people. Just look at the comments on this, a Good Morning Britain video. If Nigel has support here he’ll find it everywhere…… perhaps except LBC 😂

I think it's because those of us who are disturbed by how far right the conservative government has slid away from traditional conservatism are surprised that there are people who want to go farther right. But that's one of the issues, isn't it? Social media puts us all in our own bubbles, so that if you lean right, you see more right-leaning content affirming your views, and if you are more centrist or left-leaning, you see more content affirming those same views. The one place I find interestingly different to that is the BBC, whose news reporting everyone seems to find biased against them.

@@hadorstapa On the point of everyone finding the BBC biased against them - that's how you know their reporting is done right! They give equal discussion time to the positives and negatives associated with every party, and leave you to decide for yourself. The fact you subconsciously picked up on that proves they are the gold standard, and more so, *why* we really need public service broadcasting in the age of social media bubbles.

Many aren’t ashamed but neither do they understand anything they talk about. I’ve asked many reform voters who they want their country back from and they go “oh we don’t need to go there”. First time I could vote was aged 18 in 2003 for the European Parliament elections. I voted Conservative then. With exception to the 2005 General Election, when I only voted for Paul Murphy (despite him being Labour, I voted for the man not the party), I have always voted Conservative. However for the first time in almost 20 years, I’ll not be voting Conservative & for me that’s a big step. It shows just how bad things have gone in U.K. politics.

I've worked in political polling, this is 100% the case. Political opinions/voting intentions with a social stigma behind them are definitely underreported. Much of polling is still done via telephone, and many people will give an answer that any in the background will want to hear rather than the interviewer. What that stigma is has changed over the years, but at least in my lifetime (early gen Z), "right wing" parties and policies seem to be the most stigmatised, particularly those to do with restricting immigration.
